ONE!

Jane turned one about a month ago! (I'm a little behind.) I can't believe how much she's grown in the past year and how much she has learned in such a short time. She is officially a toddler now! We love having her as part of our family and seeing how silly she's turning out to be. I am blessed to be her mother.
  • She started walking at 9 months! She was very determined to get around as fast as she could. Even now, sometimes she tried to run! She needs to slow down!
  • She is officially done nursing! (This happened a little after her birthday) I had a pretty good experience and have definitely learned a lot, but I am glad that she has moved on. She won't drink whole milk, but she loves cheese and yogurt, so we try to give her plenty of that!
  • She has a big girl car seat now! It makes her look so much more grown up in a convertible car seat versus the infant car seat.
  • She laughs more and gives us big goofy grins. We love to see her happy goofy self!
  • She loves to carry around Adam's scripture case like a purse. She'll put toys in it and carry them around.
  • She had her first ponytail! I don't put them in very often because  she likes to pull them out, but they look very cute on her!
  • There's probably more that I don't remember too!

We had a little family party for her and her cousin Rigdin (he was born a week or so before Jane) at my sister's house the weekend of Thanksgiving. It wasn't anything big, but it was fun to spend time with family and celebrate Jane and Rigdin.

The day of her birthday we celebrated by taking her to the library for her to play with the toys and books there. Then we took her out to eat at Wendy's where she had chicken nuggets and french fries, which she loved! Then we brought her back home to open her presents and have some cake. She loved opening the presents and playing with her new toys. However, she didn't want to eat any of her cake. (We don't know how much she likes sweets... which I guess isn't a bad thing.) It wasn't anything big, but we were able to celebrate the first year of her life, with all of it's ups and downs!

We love our Jane!

8 and 9 Months!

*Super old post. She's now 10 months, which I will post about soon*

Jane is now 9 months! She is turning into a toddler before our eyes. The past couple of months have been busy with Jane and all of her growing and learning. She's been:

  • Napping better! (Which I am so thankful for)
  • Got 5 more teeth (I'm pretty they've all come in the last couple of months, and she'll have another one coming soon)
  • Started walking with her walker all over the place
  • Started wearing 9 months clothes

We love her so much!

New Car

Last month our car decided to roll off of the hill our apartment parking is on and land straddling a sidewalk and a detaining wall, with the trunk smashed into a tree. Looking back it was quite amusing seeing how it landed. We are baffled at how it happened because the emergency brake was on, even after it rolled, and I had sat in the car or around it and got Jane out of the car after it had been parked the last time I drove it.

Considering the car was deemed totaled by our insurance, we went in search of a new car! Luckily we were able to find one fairly fast in the valley. And now we are the proud owners of a 2006 Nissan Sentra! It has some cool features that our focus didn't have, like power windows and doors, a spoiler (Not that we were looking for it), and a 6 CD changer. I love being able to access so many CDs at one time, so that I don't have to change the CD while driving. It's been a fun change and we are loving our new car!

The towing guy was really excited for the challenge of getting this up from here.

This isn't our car. It's a picture I found online, but this is pretty much how it looks!

7 Months!

Jane has grown so much this past month and keeps on growing! She is such a fun, playful, and smiley baby. We love having her in our family! Here are some things that she has been doing this past month:
  • Crawling on hands and knees
  • Clapping
  • Pulling herself up on furniture
  • Eating bits of food
  • Eating a lot of baby food
  • Going into her room by herself to play

6 Months!

This has been an eventful month for Jane, mainly because she started army crawling around, sitting up by herself, and she got her first two teeth! She is growing up too fast! She loves being able to move around and explore the many things that she has seen for so long, but not been able to touch and chew on. Some of her favorite things are any kind of technology, feet and shoes, and legs of furniture. Here's a full list of things that Jane has been doing this month:

  • Scooting around
  • Sitting up
  • Getting up on her hands and knees and rocking (This one scares me! She'll be crawling any time now!)
  • Got her first two teeth
  • Has seasonal allergies (at least that's what I think it is)
  • Started exploring a sippy cup
  • Started eating fruits and vegetables (her favorite is applesauce)
  • She can now sleep without her arms in her swaddle! Although it still seems like she sleeps better with the swaddle around the rest of her body
  • Crawled out of her carseat
  • Stopped using the bath seat
Jane is getting so big! We love having her and her curiousness in our family!

I don't know why this one didn't turn. Sorry!

5 Months!

Jane is now 5 months old! It has been a rough month of trying to figure out how to get Jane to take good naps and to make sure she's eating enough. But over the past few days I have felt like things are going much better because she's eating more and sleeping better (who knew that moving her bedtime back an hour would make such a difference!?) We have had so much fun being with Jane and seeing her grow and develop so fast. She's going to be scooting around before we know it! Here are some things that she's been doing over the past month:
  • Eating her feet
  • Reaching for people
  • Trying to eat books
  • Turning in circles on stomach
  • Pushing up on hands during tummy time
  • Doesn't like to be on back
  • Starting to sit up
  • Playing in jumper
  • Ate solid food (rice cereal) for the first time! (kind of.... she still doesn't know how to swallow it)
We love Jane so much and are so thankful for the sweet spirit that she brings into our family.
