Back to School in Preston

*** Summers Over ***

The summer is finally over and School has begun once again for the Preston School District. Chett and Chalis now have to go to bed before midnight so that they can get up by 6:30am to get ready for school. This is a hard thing once you are used to a different schedule. Kalee is probably going to be hit the hardest since she likes to sleep until 10:30 every morning...oh well once she gets the boys off to the bus she can lay back down and have a nap..... hahaha.

Here are Chett and Chalis on the 1st Day of School 2009. They are out in front of their house just before going down to the Bus Stop.

Then there's Blue, he doesnt know what to think of the kids going off to school, who will he play with all day... I guess he will have to go to the farm and play with Tess until school gets out

This is Chalis's school, here is where he will spend alot of time since he has to go all day long now instead of just a half a day. Big 1st grader. The girls better watch out!!

Chalis is sitting in his desk, that look tells it all, if you could only know foresure what is going on in that kids head...Maybe we don't want to know, it may scare us to death...

Not sure if he is day dreaming here or checking out the girls. If I was a betting man which we all know I am not, I would put my money on the girls.

Here is the front of Chett's school. Like Chal being a big 1st grader, Chett is a big 6th grader, 1st year for both of them in a New School how exciting...

The hardest thing for both of them is to go to bed early so they can get up early, so far they are doing pretty good

Chetts Scout Court of Honor

Sunday 9/23/2009, Chett had a Court of Honor at 7:00 p.m. @ the Mink Creek Church.

Chett, Kalee, Myself, Dick and LaDawn Jensen, and Mike (Kalee's brother) was there to see Chett advance in his scouting. Dick and LaDawn are terrific, they would do anything for there grand kids. Mike is such a great uncle, I think it is awesome that he spends all day doing his church callings but he can still find the time to drive up to Mink Creek and support his nephew, and give moral support to Kalee. This is so hard for her but she keeps up her spirits and keeps on going...

Back to School in Cache County

I can not believe the Summer is over already, Shayne is going back to school as a Junior in High School, It seems like yesterday that this kid was getting up at 4:30 am, putting his overalls on and heading out the back door of the house to go to the barn to see where I was. This was 13 years ago.

Well its back to the grind, at 6:25 this morning I heard the water turn on and knew Shayne was up and getting ready to go to his first big day back to school. He was so excited (NOT!!). I finally broke down a bit and decided to let him drive the Black Beast to school. I told him he could drive 2 times a week and there was NO negotiating. Take it or leave it. No discussions about it!! Then I did tell him that he could drive everyday this week. ha ha ha, since there is only 2 days. Damn I'm mean.

Here is Shayne in our normal annual picture on the First day of school. We have always taken pictures of the kids on the first day of school from the beginning since they started to go to school. So why stop now.

Check out the new BLUE shoes, he told me that I just didn't know what was cool, when I told him that it looked like somebody threw up all over his feet. LOL :-)

I decided to take a couple pictures of him getting in the Black Beast and driving away.

Famous Preston Night Rodeo and Carny....

On Thursday Night we all got together and went to the 2009 Famous Preston Night Rodeo. Kalee bought a Family ticket at Stokes and Myself, Kalee, Shayne, Chett and Chalis went.

At first at 6:30 pm Kalee had to ride in the Parade with Franklin County Medical Center so Shayne and I walked up to the parade route and watched.

Here is Kalee, Chett and Chalis as they pass by us at the beginning of the parade. Chalis is at the front of the truck bouncing around as we all know that he does. Chett is on the other side throwing candy and Kal is on this side.

After the parade and before the Rodeo we went to the Carny, here Chal is on one of the rides all by his self. He kept going back to the Starship, then the Big slide, and all over. Chett and Shayne rode on one ride that spun around more than Shayne could handle and it made him nauseous the rest of the night. We spent about an hour here then headed to the Rodeo.

Kalee's brother Mike, sister in-law Aleta, and niece Tessa where saving us seats. We watched the Rodeo for about 1/2 hour or so and Chalis was hungry (what else is new). Chett and I went and stood in line for what seemed like hours to get some cheese burgers and drinks. Chalis ate it in no time flat, then Keaton, Tessa's boy friend gave Chalis his hamburger and he ate that also. That tied him over for a bit.

Kalee took Chal to the bathroom and they where gone along time, I was beginning to worry whether one of them had fell in or something. When they did come back they had carmel apples and a light sword. Obviously they took a detour.

We stopped at the Carney again on the way home and rode some more rides.

We had a great time, it was fun watching the Rodeo with Kalee's family. Thanks Mike for saving us a seat and Kalee for getting us a Ticket.

Shaynes "16th" B-Day

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHAYNE !!

Shayne turned 16 on Wednesday 7/29, so we had a little get together to celebrate.

First things first in the day he had to go to Logan to the DMV and get his Drivers license so watch your back.

Let the Party begin. We all got together at my dad and mom's for a cookout. I cooked Dutch oven Chicken and Potatoes, and we had rolls, watermelon and birthday cake.

We ate, then sat around and visited, enjoying each others company. To start off the night when Kalee got there she was standing by the truck where I was cooking talking to me, my dad and Shayne where to the side of us sitting when she started over to Shayne and said that she has a present for him, not knowing what was going on Shayne agreed. Kalee started to walk over towards Shayne and when she got there she laid a big kiss on his cheek and wished him happy birthday. The look on his face was priceless, and my dad just laughed. Great job Kalee.

He actually drank almost a half a can, as his mother looked at me in disgust and kept threatening that he was going to spend the night with me. That's okay Jack... Sometimes grandpa knows best!!

24th of July.....

On the 24th of July I picked up Kalee's boys in Preston and they came with Shayne and I to go to the Fireworks down at Willow Park. Kalee had to work that night so she wasn't able to go with us.

We went to Megan's house for awhile to kill some time and let the kids play out in her back yard.


Jack was sitting on the Patio playing with his car and just crawling around like always.

Here Jack is swinging on the glider on there new swing set, he was giggling and having a great time. Chett was pulling faces at him and he was enjoying every minute of it. Megan and Shayne are by the patio in the background...

Trey was posing for the camera while he was jumping on the tramp...

Chalis was running around the tramp chasing Trey, they were both wild and crazy. Feeding off each others adrenaline.... They played and enjoyed each others company.... They are like 2 peas in a pod...

Now we went down to Logan High and sat on the grass field west of the football field. Megan, Trey and Chalis. Jack got cut off....

We had a good time, the fireworks didn't last very long, Richard came just before they started. The boys had a blast running around like wild Indians. It was fun to get together and enjoy each others company....

George Strait Concert

USANA AMPHITHEATER

On Friday July 17, George Strait came to town at the USANA amphitheater. Kalee got tickets for us, we took Shayne and Chett. We left Mink Creek about 1:00 pm in the afternoon, dropped Chalis off with Mike (Kalee's brother) and were on our way. We stopped in Richmond to pick up Shayne then on to Logan. Kalee wanted to do a little shopping at the Mall and we had plenty of time. Once we finished with the mall hopping we went to Layton and ate at the Olive Garden. Then we headed South to our destination. In Layton it was hitting around 100 degrees. We headed down Bangerter Highway and turned West towards the USANA, we were about 20 blocks away when the traffic came to a stand still. Come to find out an hour later and 116 degree temp that there was a wreck on the road we were on. By the time we made it to USANA we had missed half of Julianne Hough. But that was okay. We parked and found our seats and enjoyed the rest of the evening. It wasn't to bad heat wise and the place was packed.

I feel a bit of rage coming on here, Kalee is not liking the photo session of her.... hahaha...to bad, she is so photogenic when she gets mad... lol. and fun to tease!!

Next up was Blake Shelton, He sang a few songs and made some jokes to intermingle with the crowd. He said he was going to go get wasted when the concert was over (drunk)...

George on the Big Screen!!!

Finally what we came for George.

George sang a lot of songs and I thought he was really good. He didn't move from the center of stage much, but thats okay. I could understand everything he sang.

Here are Shayne and Chett, Shayne was taking in the whole experience in his own way, I think Chett was a bit bored of the whole thing. I don't think it was quite what he expected, I think he was used to the concerts being more active. Besides he was having trouble seeing over the Cowboy hat in front of him.





This is a picture of Kalee's back of head shot, then Ryan and Shannon Swainston. Shannon is Kal's good friend from Preston. She is due to have her baby on the 24th of July and it is now the 17th. Nothing was going to keep her from seeing George.

The concert was great and the company that I went with was awesome. We left the USANA and headed home. I dropped Shayne off at home about 2:00 am and took Kalee and Chett home, we made it to Mink Creek around 2:30 am. Shannon left the concert 1/2 hour before we did and she didn't get home in Preston until about 3:00, she was stuck in the parking lot for about 1 hour. I just got road rage and got the heck out of there I guess. Fun Times!!!!
