So Build One Next To MAL…

... and raise the value of that property.

The noise won’t bother your guests.
The value of your house goes up? This idiot has absolutely no idea what he’s talking about.

Behaving Like Adults

MAGA: behaving like children.

China Will Get This If We Don’t

Well, We’ll Always Have Ireland 🇮🇪

Trump: The war will be over very shortly after the election. They're hanging out for dear life, hoping that we lose so they can deal with dumb weak Democrats and they can have their nuclear bomb. So they're going to be quitting or dropping out or who knows what the hell, whatever it is…
While Trump wants everyone to focus on his fake cash giveaways, this is the single most consequential story of the moment.

Iran-backed Houthis just took effective control of the Bab al-Mandeb strait, one of the world’s most important shipping chokepoints.

This route carries a huge share of global oil and trade. When it gets disrupted, energy prices rise and shipping costs explode.

Iran’s proxies just gained a much stronger position and they are set to make more gains in the region.

Trump’s war will go down as one of the biggest foreign policy disasters in history.
The Houthis seized Mayun Island, also known as Perim Island, in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, according to various reports from the region.

The small volcanic island is strategically important because it sits inside the strait and divides the waterway into two shipping channels. Control of Mayun gives the Houthis a significant position from which to monitor and potentially threaten commercial vessels transiting between the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

The seizure comes just one day after the Houthis captured the strategic port city of Mocha and as their forces advance toward Dhubab on the Yemeni mainland. Together, these gains put the Houthis in a substantially stronger position around one of the world's most important maritime chokepoints.
Axios reports that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called President Trump twice Thursday and urged the U.S. to launch strikes against the Houthis as the group advanced toward the Bab al-Mandab Strait. Trump declined, and U.S. officials said the administration currently has no plans for direct military action against the Houthis.

The request marks a shift from July, when Riyadh told Washington it could handle the Houthi threat itself and Trump backed Saudi military action. Since then, the conflict has expanded, with the Houthis capturing the Red Sea port of Mokha and advancing toward the Bab al-Mandeb.

Axios reports the U.S. is instead increasing intelligence and targeting support to Saudi Arabia. About 200 U.S. personnel are reportedly providing nonkinetic support, while CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper traveled to Saudi Arabia for urgent coordination talks.

The administration is seeking to keep the Red Sea open without adding another front to a U.S. military effort already heavily focused on Iran and the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, Trump is off to Ireland for the Irish Open being played on his golf course there.

Jake Tapper Could Not Be Reached For Comment

Morning Notes, With Rabies

MAHA A/k/a “culling the herd.” He’s not speaking. They’re not talking about him. I’m old enough to remember when Biden did this after an overseas trip in October. It was in the headlines and chewed over by the chattering class until January of the following year. "Look deep into my eyes. 👀 You are getting sleepy, very sleepy. Gas prices are down. When I snap my fingers, you will wake up believing it!”

(Crude oil prices are down almost 3% today. That could change by close of business. But Brent is still at $104, and WTI at $99. The price at the pump is not going anywhere, except probably up.)
I had to come back to it. GOAT:
Local health departments in North Carolina have evaluated hundreds of people for rabies after they interacted with baby goats that were part of a mobile petting zoo, according to the state Department of Health and Human Services.

As of Wednesday, 284 people have been evaluated by local health departments, while others have consulted with a healthcare provider directly to assess their potential rabies risk.

The goats were owned by Farm Adventures, based in Harmony, North Carolina. Between July 28 and August 27, local officials said in a statement, the farm took the goats throughout the state and visited at least 10 locations, including a Masonic picnic, assisted living centers and a back-to-school bash, as well as private events.
Since July 2026, multiple United States jurisdictions have reported local increases in human rabies exposures involving known rabies vectors or animals in which rabies is less commonly reported. Several high-profile rabies outbreaks and mass rabies exposure events have highlighted the importance of performing careful rabies risk assessments and following evidence-based recommendations for administering PEP.
Culling the herd.

Fear Of Voters

 And other observations.

Trump came to Lake Texas to view the shipwreck of the Paxton campaign, and instead of throwing out a life preserver 🛟, had the steward push Paxton’s piece of flotsam away from his ship, lest it be sullied.

Pretty Much The Definition

Every confession is…a confession. Like that one. Is he any good at lowering inflation? Or gas prices? Or staying out of unnecessary and costly wars? Lowering deficits? Governing, at all?

Because being good at making up insults is the kind of thing kids on the playground take pride in.

And Talarico turned that one into a t-shirt his supporters wear, back before summer. If you come all the way down to Texas, try to keep up, huh? You’re just embarrassing yourself.
Is he talking about Talarico, or about Trump? 9:15 and Trump takes the stage. And yes, that’s what they’re chanting. It can go back down by $44,000, too. Don’t you feel lucky, now? So then he got back on script 🤷‍♂️ and repeated his comments on Paxton’s looks, money for everybody if the GOP keeps Congress, even that “thousands of people” are standing outside, again. They even repeated a Piker picture: Have they so quickly run out of ideas? Well, he did show respect for Jesus. I guess that’s what that is.
G’night, Dallas. We hardly knew ye.

It’s All So Clear

(Although no one is applauding.)
🤦‍♂️

Friend of Epstein; cheated on every wife he ever had. “Grab ‘em by the pussy!” And that just for starters. But he knows “respect for Jesus”?

He also said: Notice how his explanation turns. Remember he also thought the documents he took to MAL were his personal property, too. "Dividends”? When government does that, isn’t it “communism”? As God is my witness,🙋‍♂️ I did not think Joe diGenova knew the meaning of the word “ethics.” I’m having violent fantasies that show no respect for Jesus, but would rid the country of a lot of problems in one go.

So I’d best keep them to myself.
Trump is skewing the numbers. And now we know why: Our food is unsafe.

How To Win Friends And Influence People

Guys come up: you know, I wish you didn’t do the war in Iran. Gasoline’s up, ba ba, ba ba,” Trump said, mimicking their complaints before adding, “let me ask you just smart people, let me ask you, not too many of them by the way.”

Trump then asked the crowd whether Iran could have a nuclear weapon. After receiving the answer “Absolutely not,” he declared, “Well then I’m right then, I win.”
Sure thing.

Welcome To Texas

(Apologies for the repetition, but that’s Twitter.) I grew up in the Presbyterian church. I knew quite a few Baptists in town who were convinced I was damned, if not exactly evil. Welcome to Texas. There’s that. And that.

So Which Is It?

IOW, it can’t go through reconciliation, and Democrats would block it in the Senate. Or: we’ll just find the money in December. Or something. He has no clue. Which is fine; he has no intention of sending out the money. There won’t be any risk of it, after all.

Especially Of Blood In The Face

Now with Paxton and MOH references! And rambling innumeracy. That oh so valuable Trump endorsement. Or the MOH. America as one rises up in righteous indignation at this gross injustice! Or not.
“The National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation recognizes President Donald J. Trump as a champion of honor for his unwavering commitment to preserving and sharing the legacies of the Medal of Honor recipients, his tireless effort to ensure the Medal of Honor, and those who received it are celebrated nationally…”
America as one says: “Wait, who? What?”

I Haven’t Been To Starbucks In A While

Brooke Rollins: "There is more beef being consumed today than ever before. The price remains where the price is, but people keep buying it. Normally you have a price go up and demand goes down, but it's the opposite. $6.50 for a pound of ground beef, which by the way is less than a latte from Starbucks, feeds a family of four. The protein is excellent."
Has the price of a Starbucks latte now over $8? And are lattes sold by the pound now?

Another Log On The Pile

Add another log to the pile:
Trump now says he's handing out $500 “rebate” checks to nearly 1 million people and calling it justice for being “wrongly overcharged” on Obamacare, after his administration let the enhanced ACA tax credits expire, raising what enrollees pay by an average of $1,016 a year if they kept the same plan.

On top of that, Americans have already spent $670–$770 extra per household this year just on gasoline and diesel from the Iran war. Moody’s Analytics chief economist Mark Zandi estimated in June that the war had already cost American households roughly $1,000 each through higher fuel, food, and other expenses.

It’s a familiar authoritarian tactic: impose economic pain by taking away things people rely on, offer to hand back a fraction of what people lost, and then demand praise for the “relief.”
Something else that will never happen, and Trump will deny he ever said. Besides: Or $500 to 1 million Americans (do they also get the $5000?). Congress can do it.

But they won’t. And Trump can’t do it, unless they do.

Hillary Leans Into The Anti-Semitism

C’mon, we’re all thinking it. About Netenyahu, I mean.

A flashback to the days when we had a real SOS.
I have a lot of problems with Israel, just like I have a lot of problems with America. I don’t “love” either country, although that doesn’t mean my only other option is to hate them. That said, I can understand Hillary to be saying she doesn’t hate Israel, because we are only allowed dichotomous language in these conversations.
Hillary Clinton: "We have to look at our potential dangers, especially what Xi is thinking. 'They they can't defend anybody anymore because they don't have the capacity to defend. Maybe we can coerce Taiwan into just giving up because there's not going to be any support.' If you look at the world map right now, it is not favorable to the US. And in large measure, I would argue that's because of very wrongheaded decisions that are being made by this administration."
Hillary Clinton: "I thought the whole Republican mini-convention and Trump's speech was making the case for the Democrats. I think it actually helps us for people to see the contrast between what Trump is offering and what his administration has produced, and potential for change."

How It’s Going

(Yes, he did that.) There are Republicans in Texas who REALLY don’t like Paxton.

“I Will Gladly Pay You Tuesday, For An Election Victory Today “

Well, yeah. Well, for you. Ew.

And then Trump remembers why he’s in Texas.
But enough about him. I’m guessing he went off script right around here: The issues the electorate are most concerned about., because: His money? Huh?
MacCallum: Is the rebate an acknowledgment that the war is not gong to be over for a while and gas prices will be elevated for some time?

Vance: If the American people give Republicans another chance to govern, to create more prosperity, we want the American people to share in that prosperity. Tariffs have done two things, generate revenue for the federal government but more importantly it has caused $20 trillion of new investment to come to the country.
When even FoxNews is skeptical….

A New Theological Controversy

Unless you attack the capitol. Who’s the lion?🦁  From lower gas prices? Yeah, it got weird enough for me. I’ve been accused of that. When I had a pulpit. When you’ve lost NewsNation. Pretty sure if that happens, we’ll be the ones who did it.

Can You Feed A Family of Four On A Starbucks Latte?

FOX: With the in-between comment, I know you are a preacher, but Mark 10:6, “From the beginning of creation, God made them male and female,” appears clearly in the Bible. It does not state that in-between.

Talarico: God is so much bigger than every single category. God is bigger than any of our understandings, and it’s important for us to remember that when having these discussions. What is clear from Scripture is that we are commanded to love thy neighbor as thyself.
This clip that aired on @FoxNews is edited.

Here is @JamesTalarico ’s full answer: “I was being provocative with that statement. I get that. What I was trying to say is that we can’t use human categories to define God, and that's not controversial theologically. In fact, the way Charlie Kirk, the way Pope Benedict, all said the same thing. And again, these comments are being put out of context to try to distract from him back to his career of corruption. You mentioned him being acquitted in the State Senate. That was after two of his billionaire mega donors gave the lieutenant governor a $3 million check to buy his acquittal. So Ken Paxton is the most corrupt politician in Texas, and he's going to try to flip some of my comments, including comments where I was being a little provocative, in order to try to distract from that corruption.”
How many people are in there, again? Doesn’t he mean this morning? Is that socialism? Or regulation? And isn’t regulation of insurance a state issue? Or do we want the Feds trampling on the states? And isn’t that socialism? Oh, he’s just delusional. Unless you’re last name is Trump? 🤦‍♂️  Know your candidate: Not even in primetime.
Can you feed a family of four on a Starbucks latte?

🎶.Big D, little A, double L, a-s🎶

The temperature in Dallas is 99. The heat index (temperature plus humidity) is 106. Bringing the best to Big D. It hasn’t been an especially hot summer, but Texas doesn’t cool down (and that’s relatively speaking) until Thanksgiving, if then. The people who planned this thing (if you can call it that), are idiots. And if your number isn’t called? Sucks to be you

I feel sorry for the people who wanted free tickets for this. But it is a fine example of how Trump can’t organize a two car funeral procession. And proves his “state fair” was not a one-off.

🐈‍⬛ 🐁

Jeanine Pirro: "If you know somebody that thinks they've got an opportunity that's too good to be true. They've been contacted by someone who has got the in on cryptocurrency -- because none of us really understand cryptocurrency as much as we'd like to -- you've gotta tell them to stop ... do not send a penny."
The entire Trump family sells crypto, including Melania.
How do you think he made so much money so quickly? Is what Pirro didn’t say.

It started as farce, and then turned into a bad sitcom scenario:
Q: The president wants you to revisit the reflecting pool case----

JEANINE PIRRO: Ugh. That's why I didn't call on your first. I'm not here to talk about that

Q: President Trump has made it clear it's very important to him

PIRRO: The president has the right to decide what he wants to do. Next.
Next: Anyone else? It’s like watching a cat 🐈‍⬛ play with a mouse 🐁 before eating it. Alive.

Back in “Big D”

Trump now claims “everybody” wants to attend his midterm convention in Dallas, but says he is only inviting a select group of candidates to speak.

The claim comes after a survey found 45 of 70+ Republican lawmakers and candidates contacted planned to skip the event, while a Washington Post analysis found at least seven GOP House candidates in battleground races have removed or downplayed Trump references on their campaign websites.
Will she be there? And does she think OBL is still alive? (This woman was at the event Trump spoke at in NYC. A decent POTUS would disavow her racism.) Granted, she is very Trumpy.
While I didn’t catch the entire broadcast last night, I did see this part and there’s a chance this is what Trump really didn’t like:

I've been to 100 of these things. I have to tell you, the energy in the room was really, really low. The place was not packed, the seats were full, but the back half of the convention center was empty. And I was going around talking to people, doing interviews, and usually at a Trump rally, you have to scratch kind of hard and ask four or 5 or 6 questions to get the people who were there to say anything sort of nuanced or, um, you know, truthful about how they really feel about something going on with him. On this one, it was like one question, how do you think it's going so far? And a lot of them were saying things like the economy's not as good as I thought it was going to be…. And these are people wearing t-shirts with pictures of his face.
Trump probably won’t be happy with the convention, either.

The theme is masculinity.
NEWS: MAGA activist Brilyn Hollyhand is now in Dallas, arriving one day after right wing organizer Scott Presler announced plans to head to the city.

In his announcement, Hollyhand targeted Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico by falsely portraying him as vegan, as prominent MAGA activists increasingly try to make masculinity and cultural identity part of the Texas Senate race.
NEWS: MAGA activists Scott Presler, Brilyn Hollyhand, and Benny Johnson will all be in Dallas this week for the Trump Midterm Convention, where they aim to make the U.S. Senate race in Texas a referendum on masculinity.
The former Texas Ranger is in the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame. He notified the FBI of Paxton’s corruption, and lost his job for his trouble. That frankly means a lot more to voters Talarico is trying to appeal to, than the ones he already appeals to. My point exactly. Funny thing. None of these speakers are from Texas. And yet this supposed to boost turnout in Texas? (Else why hold it here?) Texas is fairly parochial about its politics, especially when the highest office on the ballot is the U.S. Senator from Texas. Voters don’t tend to have much interest in what outsiders tell ‘em to do.

Abbott will certainly speak at some point. Paxton may (doubtful, though). But 8 speakers giving keynotes at a convention lasting only two days? How many speeches will there be by people nobody wants to hear from?

This is gonna be a joke.

“We’re Gonna Do What Trump Is Doing.”

Okay..... Like that? (Trump has to be the corpse at every funeral.)
More evidence that the president of the United States is psychotic. He’s been called out on this lie for many years. Once upon a time he knew he was bullshitting. But he has convinced himself of it now, as he has with all of the other fantasies with which he today soothes his fragile ego and that the world watches and listens to every day.

That’s the end stage of narcissistic sociopathy, of malignant narcissism. He’s rapidly decompensating into psychosis, and it’s accelerating.

Are we really still going to entrust him with the nuclear codes?

Is the media still not going to talk about the president’s depleted mental health?
Not until George Clooney gives Jake Tapper permission to go after Joe Biden.

But is the GOP gonna be psychotic? (I know, trick question.)
Hey, Sen. Scott, are Republicans going to do this in Dallas? Or prate ignorantly about international trade and “trade deficits”?
“Everyone knows that Canada doesn’t let our Great Dairy Farmers sell into the Canadian Market,” Trump wrote Tuesday on his social media platform. He also claimed that Canada only produces automobiles “because of previous disastrous Trade Agreements while other Presidents were in Office.”

“Canada has been ripping us off for years, but what many do not realize is that the Canadian Government, including Canadian Provinces, have banned American Small Businesses and Companies from selling into their Government Procurement Markets,” he added.

“That is not reciprocity; it is a Canadian Trade Scam,” Trump declared. “From now on, NO RECIPROCITY – NO ACCESS!”
‘Cause that’s not gonna help the economy before November. Or Christmas, for that matter. Okay, we can agree to follow Trump that way.
