 Hi There!

"Weather" you prefer it in Celsius....

Or in Fahrenheit....

As the song goes....

Friday's Agenda?

Hi There!

"What's on my Agenda, for today?", you ask.

Well, I have to finish binding my "Christmas Dear Jane Swapped Blocks" table topper, bind our new "3A Quilting Banner", do Step 6 on Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt.  And did I mention that horrible word that starts with the letter "S"?!?!??!

Yup!

We'll probably be outside this afternoon.....
Shoveling!

Zelda, our 1 year old German Shepherd, sure loves the snow!  She wanted out 4 times, this morning and kept running round and round and round in our yard!

Gee...

She must have gotten bored 'cause on her last "request" to go outside, she ran OUT of our yard and into the street - something she's NEVER done before and she KNOWS she's not allowed, ANYHOW!

Aaaaaannnnd....  she's too afraid to do it, ANYHOW!!!

WTF?!??

I then had to get my boots on, winter coat, tuque and gloves, grab her leash and as I was heading down the side of the house, calling her name.... who decides to pop up??!?

The Princess herself!

*sigh*

And since I was out and all dressed, I decided to shovel out a bit of our deck.

And this was all before 6 a.m.!!!

Should be a fun day.

Will keep you all posted with pics!

One Last Time...

Hi There!

Weather's a fickle thing...

In my little spot on this planet, its apparently difficult to predict, even!

Approximately 3 weeks ago, we FINALLY got some (nice) summer weather!

Approximately 2 weeks ago and up until the day before yesterday - Friday, it had turned into our typical (coldish) fall weather.

Yesterday?

Well, HELLO Indian Summer!!!

Temps rose to about 23 Celsius (75 Fahrenheit) and today, they're predicting 25 Celsius (79 Fahrenheit)!!!!

We decided not to take a chance and enjoy what will probably be our last barbecue for the season.

Yes, I know some people barbecue all winter long and, obviously, bring the food in the house to eat, but Gilbert doesn't care to do that.

Wishing my fellow Canucks a
Happy Thanksgiving weekend!!!!

Installing Spring....

Hi There!

Yesterday, on April Fool's day and much to my disgust, we got a mini snow storm. Enough to cause some grief in my life. For your information, ALL snow and ice had melted away in my city and Gilbert had even put away the shovels and our (car) snow brush last weekend!

The snow started around 11 a.m. yesterday and stopped around 5 p.m. It must have snowed a bit more during the night 'cause our car had to be cleaned off AGAIN, this morning.

We're talking about 8 inches of snow!

Thankfully, it was the wet kind and will probably disappear in a day or two!

This morning, I opened our back door and took a picture, for your viewing pleasure.

And speaking of "weather", this past Thursday, I received THIS, in my email box.

I thought you might get a chuckle from it.

Have yourselves a Wonderful Weekend!

Countdown to Summer !!!!

Hi There!

I did a few modifications to my blog heading
and asked Gilbert when was the official
date that spring would be here.

He said the 21st of March,
which in MY opinion is
ridiculous!!!

We still have TONS
of snow on the ground!

Soooooo,
I went to "TickerFactory.Com"
and made a new header
for my blog....

Summer will be here
the 21st of June, 2011 !!!!

I'm hoping I can hang in there,
till then!

Hope you're all having
a Scintillating Saturday!

Rainbow Flowers in the Midst of a Winter Storm!

Hi There!

My goodness! It's been so long since I've blogged that even "Blogger" forgot who I was! I had to sign back in !!!

LOL

Well, I arrived from Florida, yesterday afternoon.... and as much as I tried, it didn't work.

*insert sad face*

I tried to somehow capture my friends and the sunshine and the palm trees.... and bring them all back with me.

As of 10h30 this morning, it was VERY obvious that the sun hadn't followed me home!

*VERY LONG DRAWN OUT, THEATRICAL SIGH*

We're in the midst of yet ANOTHER snow storm....

Anyone want some of this?!?!?

If you pay for the shipping, I'll gladly pack it up and send you as MUCH as you want!

LOL

If some of you have been following
My Vacation Journal -
which I'm trying to update, ASAP, BTW...
you might have read that I've been working on some "Rainbow Flowers", by Inklingo.

Here's a picture of where I'm at, with my flowers.

I still need to sew the lower left hand flower onto the rest of them and finish off my last flower and then..... I might be adding more of what I call "acorns" around my flowers... to make it more of a circle....

But then again, would it look like a "flower" if it was almost a "circle".

Dunno.

We'll cross that bridge when we get to 'er.

*grin*

Have a Flippin' Fabulous Friday!!!

Seven Caboches = Seven Days

Hi There!

We're supposed to get yet ANOTHER storm.

5 to 10 centimeters,
which translated, in what I call "normal language", is only 2 to 4 inches.

What tha HEY!!!

THAT'S A STORM?!?!?

Anyhow, this will be storm #11, according to the weather experts.

Honestly... do I REALLY need to lift up my mitten?!??

LOL

Gilbert and I managed to make a few of these, before Christmas and mail them off.

The mail FINALLY delivered it to the last person, today.

Gilbert quilted a pantogram, called "Stars 'n Loops".

Soooo, we're now down to SEVEN days, before I leave for Florida!!!

These are what Gilbert makes.

He has nicknamed them "Caboches".

And YES, they're as delicious as they look!

And YES, there are SEVEN "caboches"!

*VBG*

Hope you're having a
Mellowy Monday!

2nd Blog Post, For Today!

Hi There!

Another blog post...
"Has she gone mad?", you ask.

Well, yes, I guess I am, sometimes...
*grin*

After we came home from errands, I blogged and relaxed and then, went downstairs in my sewing studio and finished off January's BOM.

No, I didn't get to do February's, as I had promised.

In the meantime, we had a happy moment that quickly turned into a scary moment.

Let me explain.

We've been in this house for 10 years and never, EVER, has the city sent their work crew to do any snow removal! Yes, they've plowed our streets after a storm but snow removal? NEVER!

So, when we saw the big trucks and their machinery arrived to remove snow, we were ECSTATIC!!! I even ran and got my camera!!!!

And then, it dawned on us!

They're predicting another 8 inches from Saturday night to Sunday... and then, yet ANOTHER 8 inches on Tuesday!!! The city MUST be panicking to send out their snow crew BEFORE!

YIKES!!!

Can someone send a message to the Big Guy, up there .... *pointing upwards* and tell Him that we've had enough?!?!

*s*

So, here's that baby quilt, from Thursday evening.

Remember?

Well, I sewed up the 3 pieces and with Gilbert's help and according to the pattern, we did TWO cuts into the quilt, resewed it according to the instructions.

Gilbert took a picture of me,
trying to finish the top off, ASAP.

And here's the quilt top, resewn together and with a narrow blue strip. I've since added a wider border onto that narrow blue one.

I'll share another picture after Gilbert and Bertha have done their magic on this one.

*grin*

And for my 2 friends' sake and to prove that I did some more baby steps, here's 2 pictures of my bus ticket!

I wasn't too, too sure... but when I saw "adult" on the ticket, I thought to myself, "Yep, that's me! And as an Adult, I can do this!!!"

*VBG*

And, since there's only NINE days till I leave, I've included another NINE number.

This one doesn't ring a bell?

Actually, this is one of the characters in Star Trek...

"Seven of NINE".

I used to watch Star Trek... a LOT!

LOL

Have a SUPER Saturday!!!

Whether it's the weather....

Hi There!

Ever since I've gotten my iTouch,
I've uploaded my friend's
weather reports.

I've taken the Fahrenheit and the Celsius.

This was taken last night.

My friend in Scotland
has rain, in her very near future,
unfortunately.

And my OTHER friend,
in California,
is getting
beautiful, beautiful
sunshine.

Not a cloud in sight!

Now, I ask you....

Will our scientists ever be able to harness our planet's warmth and cold, humidity and drought... intermix it and re-distribute it, evenly?!?!?

Wouldn't THAT be a perfect world?!??!

*grin*

This is our home office clock.

I patiently waited till 10 p.m. rolled by, last week, in anticipation of my "10 days before I head off, on my trip"

Have a Frivolous Friday!!!!

9 Weeks of Storms!!!

Hi There!

We'd had yet ANOTHER storm, today!

The media people say its our weekly storm - 9 weeks in a row, now!

Once again, I got a couple hours off, from work, to get home and YES, the roads were slippery and treacherous!!!

Anyhow, let me explain these next 3 pictures....

While I was on the phone with a good friend, this evening, P'Tit Noir (our male tom cat) wanted to go out.

NOTHING STOPS HIM - He wants OUT, you'd best not try and argue with him!

So, while I'm on the phone, I open up the door and he slips out!

Here's what our upstairs door entrance looked like.

P'Tit Noir hesitated briefly and took off, in the night!

So, I closed the door and looked what came in!

A dust pan isn't just for "dust", don't you know!

LOL

During my "snow afternoon", I managed to finish the machine sewn binding, on our "Magic Tiles Sampler".

This quilt will obviously always remain in our Studio.... it shows 5 of Gilbert's long arm stitches.

Since Gilbert wanted to display what he and Bertha could do, he made up a few of these, as well... to hung up in the studio.

I managed to do their bindings, by sewing machine, this afternoon.

This one is called "Fantasia".

Not sure about the name of this one, but as you can see, it would be GORGEOUS on a Christmas or Nature quilt, eh?!?

And this one is my all-time favorite -
"Stars 'n Loops".

He's done this one so many times now, that he's even able to do it free-hand!

Some of you asked about my thread cutter.

A good friend sent me this "kit" and no, I will NOT take it with me to Florida.... just in case the mean person at the airport decides to keep them. *s*

And in amongst our cold, snowy, windy, day, I got another crappy (junk) email about a cruise ship vacation.

So, before deleting this crappy (junk) email, I cropped a portion of it....

LOOK @ the PALM TREES!!!!

Gilbert had this poster,
that he pinned up, in our stair well.
(Look at the date at the bottom of the poster.)

12 more days!!!!

With an afternoon like today, with approx. 14 inches of snow fall, I am DEFINITELY READY for Florida!!!

Hope you're all having a
WARM Wednesday!!!

Can You Say "Snow Afternoon"?!?!?

Hi There!

Got a couple hours off from work -
Ladies and Gentlemen....
Can you say
SNOW AFTERNOON?!?!??!?

Gilbert went and took a
video
, from our upstairs window.

Gilbert's Snow Video.

I was "supposed" to take
advantage of these couple (free) hours
and get some quilting done.

What have I done, instead?

Read my emails, surfed the web, talked with my friend Elaine on the phone, watched Gilbert take his snow storm video, shovel (with Gilbert) our entrance and deck, walk to the corner store and picked up 2 movies:
Dinner for Smucks
and
Inception.

I'm guessing that "Inception" will be the kind of movie that I will NEED to do some hand piecing, binding on a quilt, or some rug hooking....

When a movie's got too much "thrill" or "action" for me, I have trouble watching it, directly....

Listening is okay.
Watching is too much!

LOL

Yep.... 24 more days left!

(Psssssst..... if you click on the quilt book, you'll get more info on this book.)

Pizza's on the menu for supper,
then it's

SHOW TIME!!!!

Hope you're all having
a Fantastic Friday!!!!

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

Hi there!

Took some pictures around 8h30 p.m.,
from our bedroom window.

DARN, the flash went off on my camera, but at least you get to see the "white" stuff, on our window screen.

Here's a picture of our street.

Managed to get someone,
walking in the middle of the street.

And since I had 1/2 of the afternoon off,
I managed to get some sewing done!

YES, I decided to put a thin line
of dark colored fabric and
found the GORGEOUS
heart fabric that Elaine
had sent me to me
a while back.

One of these days,
I'll have a camera
that will take TRUE colors!

This fabric is just SCRUMPTIOUS!!!

Are you all tired of the number 33?

Well, I am!

I promise we'll skip to 32 tomorrow!

*grin*

Wish me luck, in the morning!

Didn't go to Curves this evening....

I got a feeling with the shoveling going on, tomorrow morning, that this will be like "Boot Camp"!

Rosa

SNOW DAY!!!!

Hi There!

We're getting walloped with a Nor 'Easter - it's coming down fast and furious.... and we were able to leave work early - THANK GOD!!!

And speaking of "God", my cousin sent me this cute email....
Thought I'd share with all of you.

2011 New Prayer

Dear God

All I ask for in 2011 is a big, fat bank account and a slim body... please don't mix these up like you did last year.

Amen

And since we're STILL on 33 days (see previous post), I found you a really cute web site:

WARNING - You can get lost on this web site!!!
*VBG*

Hope you're having a GREAT day -
I'm heading downstairs to work on my "Heart" table topper!

Countdown to Christmas!!!

Hi There!

Last week, Gilbert took this picture of one of our Christmas decorations, outside...

Thought I'd share...

I'm hoping to use every single evening to work on my Christmas gifts...
(wish me luck!)

Let Me Introduce You To.....

Hi There!

I had picked up, this fall, a Christmas panel, at Mardens for $3.49.

In this picture, Gilbert is working his magic, from the top of the panel!

Here, he's added incredible snowflakes!

They look "frostier" in person...

Here's a closeup of Santa's hat.

And here's a closeup of a finished snowflake.

This is on Mrs. Claus' dress.

He made some cute trees...

And here's the finished panel!

Let me introduce you to Santa and the love of his life, Mrs. Claus!

Nope, haven't had a chance to bind it, yet. That might get done this weekend.

Guess what?

After 5 days of solid rain - last week and then, we went away and we had GORGEOUS sunshine... we're back to rain, again.

Day # 2, actually....
