Blanket City

Welcome to Blanket City! Population 3.

Four if you count the girl behind the camera. Who also happens to be the founder. Though I'm sure there are many other cities just like it in the world.

[As a side note, this picture was taken while Steve was out of town and "Aunt Katie" and "Uncle Josh" (my little sister and brother) came to keep us company.]

What exactly is Blanket City? It's the inevitable result of having too many blankets (we only used about a third of the blankets in our house) and too much open floor space. Daphne "asks" for it almost every day, by running over to the ottoman (where the blankets are neatly folded and stored each night...okay, almost every night) and slapping the top of it until I open it up and start pulling them out. But of course I don't mind a bit.

Welcome To Our Not-So-Humble Home! (Upstairs)

As promised, the tour will now continue. However, you may notice a slight change in presentation. Steve felt I was bragging a bit much on the first half so I'll try to keep the gushing to a minimum from now on. We'll begin in Daphne's room. Gotta love our mismatched furniture! Guess I'm not much of a nursery designer...

And here's the tub itself. Tiled all the way up.

 The guest room. Pretty bare. But at least there's a guest!

The other room. Spare room, office, whatever you wanna call it - basically the room where we put everything that doesn't fit anywhere else. Kind of a mess thanks to Daphne.

Master bedroom view #1. Very green. We left all the paint the way it was. And we weren't going to buy a new comforter just to avoid clashing with the wall. At least not yet.

Master bedroom....view... (from the window. look at all those trees!!! There is nothing behind our house but trees! And an occasional donkey. If you don't already know, I love trees. Donkeys are just okay.)

And we're back downstairs for one last picture. The backyard! So small it fits in one picture!

Honestly it's a miracle we even found this house because from the beginning of our search I pretty much refused to even look at pictures of any house on less than a quarter of an acre. I just wanted a big yard. Always have. But one day we were out running errands and Steve suggested we just drive by the neighborhood of a home he saw online so I said fine, but had the lowest expectations (knowing it to be in a new development and therefore knowing it must have a tiny tiny yard. Which it does. As you can plainly see). So we drove up, got out, walked around, peeked in the windows and that was that. I was hooked. I didn't admit it then but it was pretty much love at first sight for me. And that is not bragging.

Welcome To Our Not-So-Humble Home! (Downstairs)

I say not-so-humble because to be honest - it's amazing. And I love it. And I may have some borderline sinful pride in it. But anyway... let's begin the tour...

Here we have our two-story, 2000 square-foot, 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home. Just under 3 years old. We are the second owners.

This is the front entry and future living room. We have no furniture as yet so there's not much "living" done in here. But lots of running around by Daphne.

The living room connects to both the kitchen and the family room. Here is the kitchen (complete with what is called a breakfast nook. But we don't discriminate. We eat all our meals there).

Kitchen view from family room. Quite possible my favorite room in the house. Please note the granite tile counters, maple cabinets and walnut hardwood floors. (I did warn you not to expect humility.) Did I mention the practically new stainless steel appliances?

The family room as seen from the kitchen. Harry Potter's room to the right (cupboard under the stairs, for those of you who are not avid HP fans. Shame on you.) Unseen to the left is the sliding glass door(opens to the deck and backyard).

The laundry room. I should note here that all appliances were included in the purchase. So nice.

Off of the laundry room is the half-bathroom. Nothing too exciting. Also the door to the garage. But who needs to see a picture of that? (More likely you are thinking, "Who needs to see a picture of a toilet?" but too bad. Now you've seen it. And there are two more on the way!)

Okay, back to the living room for a view to the upstairs. I love how the split staircase provides an open view to the upstairs. In fact the whole house is very open. I love it. And the upgraded wooden banister, and wooden trim all over the house. There's just so many nice little "extras" that make it feel fancy. At least to me.

I'll do pictures of the upstairs and backyard later - because Daphne is ready for a nap and can't climb into her crib without my help. She's also not very good at changing her own diaper. Or putting on her sleeper...

Finally

We moved into our new house over a month ago and finally got our internet set up today. I don't have time to update now - but just wanted you to get your hopes up. We've been busy! That's all. More to follow. Okay, bye!
