Since we were traveling for Christmas, we decided to have an unwrapping day at home to unwrap all the gifts under our tree (that we couldn't possibly fit in our luggage). We picked Sunday, the 22, since the 23rd is Tyler's birthday and the 24th is when we were leaving. The kids got so many fun new toys, and it was really fun to enjoy that little bit of Christmas as a family.
We had a fun morning, then headed to church. I performed a piano solo, my first time performing (as opposed to accompaniment) in years. I was so nervous, but so proud of myself. I'm really happy with how it went.
The boys really wanted to go see the big tree downtown, so in the evening after church, we drove in and walked around downtown together.
For Tyler's birthday this year, I took him to meet otters at our local aquarium early in December. That was his big gift, so his actual birthday-day was pretty low key. He went to work and I packed like mad for our 3 am departure the next day. Around midnight, we did stop cleaning/packing long enough for a slice of birthday cake and a photo. I even sang Happy Birthday to him!
Yay! Tyler is 31!
