Did someone call the gravekeeper?

There has been been a long standing question, are the skeletons in Pirates of the Caribbean real? Of course not anymore, that wouldn't be really ethical in todays' standards, then again, when was it ever ethical to use human skeletons in a theme park attraction?

These women for example, they lay in bed with ol' bones, which if the time frame was correct (which I beleive to be shortly after the attraction's opening, look at how white the skull and crossbones on the headboard is), is actually a real skeleton.

Imagineers deemed the materials used to make the fake bones..too fake looking. Here is where to story shifts a bit, some say that the UCLA Medical Center gave the skeletons as gifts to Walt Disney to use in his new attraction (which I find highly unlikely), while others believe that WED Enterprises (Now Walt Disney Imagineering) bought the skeletons to fill the opening day quota.

So yes, it is true that the skeletons in Pirates of the Caribbean were once actual people's skeletons. It's not entirely sure when all the real bones were phased out for fake ones, but it's fairly known that the skull and crossbones on the headboard above is indeed a real human skull. Better than sitting in a coffin right?

Its been 3 months since I started the Sunken Pirates of the Caribbean thread on Micechat, you can find it here. I was inspired by HBG2 and his Haunted Mansion effect thread (which you can find here and the blog here) to make a thread for one of Disney's most famous attractions, Pirates of Caribbean. Here you shall discover treasure--err some forgotten things such as: blueprints, backstage shots, interviews, and removed effects. Collected on my laptop is a multitude of pictures and information regarding PotC, while my collection of info might not be as impressive as HBG2's HM collection, I try to provide the world with things not known by even the most devoted Disney fans. Beware of them blundering pirates!
