Play dates

This week we were able to have a play date with my friend I miss so much, Kimberly. She and I worked together on the same teams for years, but when I came back to work on my old team after Cam, she stayed on the Training team. ( I think it should be a rule we stay on the same team no matter what!!! Kimberly, I don't think Brooke would mind!!!!)
We don't get to see each other much so when we do, we play all day. It was so fun to see little Landon and just talk like old times.

Little L again...

Today we had a play date with my sister-in-law and her kids. Cam ADORES his cousins so much. They are so sweet and gentle to him, especially Lauren. She always talks "baby talk" to him and tells him how cute he is. It is hilarious to watch her repeat what she hears us saying to him in the same tone.

We went to the park, had a little picnic, then played.

Aunt Alesia brought some chips and shared with us. Cam loved them. This was the first time he has had chips, I always get so nervous with hard to chew things, but he did great!

He discovered the picnic table and the noises they make when you bang on them. He did this for the majority of the time, other than eating sticks and bark chips, and crawling in a used ketchup packet.

Michigan Trip - Day 5

Our journey, unfortunately, had to come to an end. There were so many things I still wanted to do and people I wanted to see. It is always so hard to come home, especially now that we have Cam. I feel so sad leaving my mom behind without her grand baby. I have to remind myself we will see each other soon. Hopefully in November!

After we went to Scott's favorite restaurant, Rib Rack, we headed to the airport. They were overbooked and asked for volunteers to be bumped. That is always right up my alley, but does require more thought now that we have Cameron.
The next flight out was at 7 am the next morning. They would get us a hotel by the airport, food vouchers and 300.00 each in flight vouchers! How could you say no? After convincing Scott's little brother, Robby, we all agreed to do it. Man, am I glad we did!
Our hotel was amazing! He had a king size bed, a pull out bed and this...

We had so much fun that night, but went to bed early since we had to be up at 5 am to get ready for the airport. It was so worth it! Not sure the people sitting by us on the airplane thought that though. We didn't have any clean clothes to change into so didn't shower...and after have walked that big airport twice, we were all sweaty! Oh well ; )

Now with our 600.00, Scott and I are trying to plan a weekend just boys/girls trip!! Any suggestions where I should go??

Michigan Trip - Day 3 and 4

Mackinac Island!!!
Whenever we visit Michigan, Scott loves to explore new areas and visit new places. We have gone to Niagara Falls, Chicago, and now check off the list, Mackinac Island!
Map quest said it would take about 4 1/2 hours to get there, but we did it in 3 1/2! I think partly because it was a Sunday morning and Monday night when we drove. We crammed so much in, by Monday night we were dragging!
On the way there it started pouring rain. This pictures doesn't do it justice. There were HUGE rain drops. It was hilarious too because every time it starting raining hard, my mom in the backseat would say frantically, "Should we pull over and wait for it to stop???!!!"
Ugh, No mom, it is OK to drive in the rain! So funny!

Sunday we stayed at St. Ignace and on Monday would take the ferry over to the island. We got a nice hotel room for the night with a lakefront view. It was fabulous with great amenities. Thank you Harbour View Inn, we love you!

Our view from the room. You can see the island in the distance. Off to the right there was a fire pit where they have everyone come down and roast marshmallows at 9pm.

There were a lot of shops and things to see on the St. Igance side, so after Cam's nap and the boys swIm, we headed out. We went shopping and stopped for dinner.

This is our view from the table. We sat outside and enjoyed the breeze and scenery. I should have zoomed in a little to get these cars out of it! It is a long boardwalk with a little lighthouse at the end.

Monday morning before we took the ferry, Scott and Robby got up the guts to go para-sailing! Here they are on the boat getting ready to leave. I didn't get any pictures of them actually sailing, they were too far from the dock. They had so much fun and loved the view.

While we waited an hour for them I put the munchkin down for a needed nap. Good boy!

Every corner you turn there is a fudge shop! I am not a huge fan of fudge, but did enjoy a few bites here and there. There was always ice cream too, which I am a huge fan of. We stopped to refresh ourselves from the heat and Cam played with Daddy's new hat.

On the island they do not allow cars. The only means of transportation is bike, horse, or your feet. To cover more ground we thought it would be fun to take a horse carriage tour. It lasted 2 hours and was great. We got to see things we would have never been able to see and learned some history of the island. It would have been so much fun to spend another day there and rent bikes! Next time!!

This has got to be the funniest picture on my camera! There wasn't enough room for all of us to sit together on the carriage, so Robby was kind and sat behind us. Right before he sat down this guy said...Come sit here, I don't bite!

Robby was such a good sport we passed the baby back to him to avoid getting too lonely. Cam just relaxed with his uncle and enjoyed some cuddles.

The Grand Hotel. There are over 100 rooms and each one is decorated differently. You can pay to go in and look around, but we didn't have much time.

Here is 1 of 3 cemeteries on the island. To prevent overcrowding, to be buried here you have to have been born on the island or paid at least 15 years of property taxes, and the last thing according to our tour guide, you need to be dead!

I am not sure if you can see, but the horse on the left has blue eyes. It was pretty and freaky all at the same time!

During our tour we drove through Mackinac Island National Park, the second national park in the US after Yellowstone. It was so peaceful and enjoyable. We didn't really get any pictures...

It was a wonderful 2 days that could have lasted a little longer!

Cameron's Michigan Party

On Saturday night we had a few people come over to visit with Cameron and celebrate his birthday. We had so much fun and it was great seeing some old friends of mine. Thank you to everyone that came out to be with us. Thanks mom for the cute, yummy cake and ice cream! We love each and every one of you!

Happy Birthday again!

My friend was able to come and brought her precious little baby, Joey, over. Cam had so much fun playing. At one point during the night when they were crawling right next to each other, they looked at each other's binky's and did a swap! It was hilarious!!!

This picture is blurry, but one of my favorites. He got a card from my brothers family that played the song"Who let the dogs out?" Cam absolutely loved it and could not stop dancing to it!

Michigan Trip - Day 2

The main reason we went to Detroit this past weekend was so we could attend the annual Woodward Dream Cruise. It is a one-day event where over 400,000 classic cars cruise up and down Woodward, a street similar to State street, with people all up and down the roads taking pictures, eating yummy food, and buying shirts. It was so much fun, even though we practically melted because of the heat. After a couple hours at the cruise we went to my old "hood", Redford. Every once in a while I try to go back and drive up and down the streets to see how much it has changed. It is so fun for me to look around and remember little things about my simple life back then! I should have taken a picture of my old house, but really didn't even think of it!

I usually try and attempt a visit to my dad's grave site when I am home, but because it is not very close to where my mom lives now, I haven't been able to. Since we were in Redford and the cemetery is up the street, we stopped! I have only been 1 other time and was really wanting Scott to go see it after we did the work for my dad at the temple last year. After FOREVER searching for it, thanks to my cousin Kristy, we found it!

It was a great experience for me and I am so glad everyone was supportive and willing to search for so long.

After Redford we went to my absolute favorite restaurant in the entire world...Panera Bread! Ahhh...the joy! We really need one here!

After we got home, we put Cam down for a much needed nap and I went with Lindsey to get a pedi! LOVE IT!
