The final weeks of summer bring a time of transition in the world strategic situation. Things are visibly changing: the CRINKs bloc is unmasking more and more as an implacable antagonist of the United States and the entire free world. At about 6 PM EDT last Saturday, August 22, 2026, World Crisis Radio posted a strategic analysis on X at @WebsterGTarpley (and soon after on tarpley.net), which was headlined “World War CRINKs in Sight… Consider This a War Warning!… September-October a Potential Time Frame for Russian Provocation against NATO Members Poland and/or Baltic States… As Putin’s Long-Awaited Test of NATO Cohesion Nears, Trump Telegraphs Total Appeasement.”
This estimate was supported by a summary of Russia’s state-sponsored terrorism against the NATO alliance in Europe and also in the United States over July and August 2026. This summary was meant to show that Russian terrorism in the form of airspace violations, sabotage, cyber attacks, and assassinations across the countries of the NATO alliance was proceeding through a crescendo of intensity which was likely to reach critical mass within weeks or months. The point was that NATO governments and news media had failed to educate public opinion about the seriousness of a war danger growing out of the military, political, financial, and economic crisis of the Putin dictatorship in the Kremlin, and that these governments and news media had an urgent obligation to do everything possible to inform their people. Russian Cruise Missile Detonates 60 Miles Deep Into Poland; Is This the Start of the Massive Provocation to Challenge by Putin Anticipated by the US, Sweden, Poland, and the Baltic States?
The cruise missile in question has been officially identified by the Warsaw government as a Russian nuclear capable Kh-101. The considerable impact crater near the village of Tarnawa Kolonia near Lublin was immediately inspected by Polish Prime Minister Tusk, who is one of the strongest advocates for military preparedness on the Eastern flank of NATO. Poland had scrambled an F-16 fighter plane to intercept the intruder, but it crashed while the jet was still on its way. An investigation has been ordered and is ongoing. Numerous media reported around July 3 that the United States had officially warned Polish President Nawrocki that Russia might soon stage a large-scale provocation against Poland as a means of testing NATO’s defensive resolve. As a result of the Russian domestic oil and gasoline crisis with the concomitant loss of export earnings, the political position of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is rapidly becoming desperate. As repeatedly warned here, Russia is carefully studying the prevalence of defeatist and pro-appeasement thinking among the policymakers of the Trump regime, among MAGA Republicans on the hill, and also among congressional Democrats, whose level of irresponsible and reckless appeasement in regard to forcing an end the Iran war looks to Putin like a lifeline. There are now multiple indications that Putin, encouraged by, bipartisan fecklessness in Washington, is preparing an act of blatant aggression against Poland, or perhaps against Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia using either troops directly drawn from Russia or Russian forces coming from Belarus and/or the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad. There may still be time to deter and dissuade Putin from this lunatic flight forward, in which his entire strategy would be to bet on a weak, evasive, defeatist, responsive appeasement from the White House. The conduct of the Iran war has so far given the Kremlin boss great reason for hope in this regard, since the US has been following a cowardly phony war or limited war strategy typical of such incompetent military leaders as George McClellan. However, the flare-up of fighting in the Gulf over the last few days in the wake of rogue Iranian attacks on three merchant vessels in the Strait of Hormuz has increased the hopeful possibility that the United States, even under the present leadership, might wage something resembling actual modern war, which could easily lead to a rapid and victorious conclusion of hostilities. The American Separation of Powers Tradition With Checks and Balances Starts in the Roman Republic About 500 BC
The modern American concept of the separation of powers with checks and balances can be traced back to the Roman Republic around 500 BC with the institution of the tribunes of the people, government officials who were themselves working-class plebeians who could contest the decisions of the Roman Senate, which was overwhelmingly patrician. In addition, the Roman consuls always came in pairs, with each serving on alternate days, which allowed them to check each other. In case of the most acute emergencies, the Roman Senate could give strictly temporary power to a dictator, who is expected to master the crisis and then returned to private life.
