Awesome kids

Today I have been feeling so blessed to have the good kids that I do.  They are far from perfect, they are not the top students in their class, they are not the best athletes on the field, they are not the best behaved (oh we have so much work to do) but they are enough. . .  to make me smile and be oh so proud of them.

In January, Luke was awarded student of the month in 3rd grade in the area of Science and Social Studies.
In February, RJ was student of the month in 1st grade in the area of Math. (Gigantic achievement for him.)
 Today Tanner came home with a first place medal for his painting in the talent contest "Daydreams and Dandelions". (so excited for him).
 In January, Khloee started Gymnastics.At the end of January, the teacher approached me and told me she thought she needed to move up a level.  So we moved her to the next level, after being in that class for 3 weeks, her new teacher told me, "She is just this little ball of energy and muscle and I think we need to move her up to the next level."  So here is my cute, timid, little, just barely 5 year old, in this class with 3rd, 4th & 5th graders. She acted intimidated, even though she said she wasn't scared.  But she held her own and did awesome! Her teacher is great and told me she thinks Khloee will learn and progress really quickly and I am happy to see her get challenged a little bit more.
Luke just finished his season of basketball.  His dad was his coach this season, which was tough for him at times because he felt like he had to sit a little more than the other kids did and when his dad gave him pointers, he felt like his dad was upset with him and was getting after him. (does that sound familiar dad?) But after his last game on Saturday, Kory and I were talking about how much his little team had improved over the season and how much Luke's game had come along.  Kory was glowed as he talked about how Luke hustles all the time and never takes a play off.
I told Luke after the game how much his defense had improved and how much better he did this game. He looked at me and said, "Mom, I didn't even score one point". I was shocked because he was all over the place.  And I told him he rebounded like crazy and caused them to turn it over so many times, he didn't need to score any points! Somebody else on his team had to do SOMETHING.
We signed the boys up for soccer (because they all wanted to play) as well as baseball (because their dad said they have to play. . . . not that they were sad about this at all).  So Tanner and Luke have been going to try outs for the past 2 weeks. Tanner will be in Majors and Luke is actually supposed to be in Machine pitch age wise, but the rest of his friends are going into minors so we told him to go tryout.
They both did awesome!! Tanner did really well the first night of tryouts and Kory had one of the coaches tell him Tanner was amazing and probably one of the top 5players on the field. Well it must have gotten back to Tanner and went strait to his head because the next night he couldn't hit the ball to save his life.  But he still did great and made it on a great team. We are excited to see him improve.  We don't know if Luke made a team yet or not, but he says he is ok with playing machine pitch this year if he didn't.
RJ gets the privilege of having his mom be his soccer coach and his dad be his baseball coach.  Lucky little guy, I feel bad for his coaches though. He has a tendency to get his feelings hurt easily and can dig his heels in and refuse to do anything until he gets his way.  (We are working on that)

Like I said, they are awesome kids, just not perfect yet.

I can't forget our little scooter, who is no longer scooting, but walking and occasionaly running. . . and then face planting.  She is the cutest dang thing and the only perfect one amongst us, just ask her dad!

Lainee turns 1

 December 30th we celebrated Alaina's first Birthday. And I am the worst mom and didn't even make her the traditional cake that she could dive into all on her own. But after Christmas and RJ's Birthday on the 28th, I was caked out and just didn't want to think about it. I am going to have to figure out a better system of birthday celebrating in the future because I can't get away with being a slacker birthday thrower forever.

We had a few family members from the Wright side over and unfortunately we didn't even include the Turek side because Kandice's family had a busy time with Carters blessing and Sealing right around the same time we decided we had seen enough of them. Not really, we just decided to keep it low key and simple for Laine.

Lainee loves her cousin Ellee. Every time she sees her she has to scoot over to her and lean on her and give her a little "hug". It's so cute.

I told everyone they had to hula hoop in order to get any ice cream. So here for you viewing pleasure is one Hot Hula Hooper.

I didn't want him to know I was videoing so I just set the camera on the counter while I was dishing up ice cream so they counter top is in the way a little, but you get the jist.

And then I also wanted to never forget Lainee's little Booty Scoot. She doesn't crawl, she just scoots around on her booty. It is so dang cute and I could sit and watch her all day!

She is beginning to walk and and I can't help but be so sad to have the little "scoot" disappear.

We like to call it "The row" because it reminds me of rowing a boat. It is always right, left, right, left.

None of the other kids ever hit their first birthday without walking. She is the first and might I add that it is awesome!! She is so good and content, without being into everything that toddlers are into. She can scoot around on her bum for the rest of her life for all I care.

Just a bit behind

Has it really been that long since I have posted? 

Here are a few scrapbook pages I have done that will cover the last couple of months here at  this circus.

 Luke and Tanner finished up the Football Season

 We celebrated Halloween a bit more joyously this year. (It's not my favorite holiday, but this one wasn't so bad)

Lainee just keeps growing no matter how much I squish her.

And because I am going on past performance, I may as well wish everyone a Happy New Year because who knows how long it will be before I post again!

While Mom is away . . .

                                                 We're not sure what dad is doing, but Lainee was busy painting her fingernails. . .  and her legs and arms and face and tummy and the carpet.



I was at a scout meeting and I had taken Alaina with me. Kory was so nice and texted me when he got home and asked if I wanted him to come and get the baby from me.  I was so thankful and thought, "what a good husband I have"!

I received a text right at the end of my meeting that said, "You need to come home!"

I walked into a house that smelled of fingernail polish and a baby that looked like she had lost a paintball war.

Kory had given her some fingernail polish bottles to entertain her while he was doing a few things in the garage. She got a little excited and banged them together and the redish/orange one "exploded" (in Tanners words.)  Tanner even got a little bit of the fingernail polish "shrapnel" on him.

Kory met me in the garage when I got home and said, "you are never going to let me keep the baby again". I think that was wishful thinking. 

A little fingernail polish isn't going to get me too excited and fire him from that position, perhaps a little cut in pay.

Fall Break

The Sunday before Fall Break I made the kids a deal that if they could get along with each other for the week, Friday I would take them for a surprise "adventure".  It is hard to say but a bribe was necessary at this point in our happiness at home quest.  So they did pretty good about remembering the deal all week and keeping themselves in check.  Needless to say, I think I may have had as much fun as they did at 

Antigravity. 

 All the other "sophisticated" moms came with their kids, all dressed up and looking cute and sat on the couches and read their books, while I bounced around on the trampolines in my shorts and t-shirt and got completely sweaty and made a fool of myself many a time. 

 Was it worth it? Heck yes, I had so much fun with them!

I put together this short little video of Lainee doing her best back stroke kick.  It is so dang cute, everytime I lay her down she get her legs just a going. But I couldn't get it to load so all I can get is this little clip that I used as part of the video.

She is so dang cute! You would think with moves like that she would want to move somewhere, but you would be wrong about that.  She is perfectly content to lay and kick her legs or sit and twirl her feet around.  What a funny babe!

A Late September Swim

A few weeks ago I finally got the park pass I requested from the library back in the spring. I tried my hardest to make the most of the week that we had it and see as many parks as we could.  We, in true Wright fashion, made it to only 1.  And it is the State park that is only a measly 10-15 min. from us. 

Sand Hollow.  Loser-ish, I know.  But the kids still had a blast and I am so glad that we got to go . . . for free at that!

 We quickly lost our summer tans and moved easily into our September "GLOW"

 We were lucky to have some friends, the Dutton family and Kandice, Emmie and Carter join us at the lake.

The sand was great for digging, the water perfect for swimming and the company perfect for chatting. The only bummer was that the sun set too soon.
