So here is some of the details.. Tom started not feeling well Monday night by having some pain on the left side of his abdomen right under his ribcage. It would come and go.. Thursday night he came home from work early again not feeling the greatest having the same problems.. We went to bed and was able to sleep for a few hours. Then Camden woke up and he got up with him for a min.. A few minutes later he was hurting so much more in pain. He went to dry heave and ended up passing out. Once I was able to get into the bathroom, he looked awful.. I called the ambulance.. It BP was low and HR high, pale, and clammy.. They were able to stabilize him and get him to LDS Hosp. He knew one of the Paramedics and was joking around with them when he could. They got him into the ER and started running blood tests an EKG and a CT Scan of his abdomen.. Everything came back unremarkable. Then his BP and HR plummeted. The gave him over 10 liters of fluid to keep a BP on him and couldn't figure out what was going on.. He was still teasing them, especially the ones he knew.. Then he was having difficultly breathing. The chest x-ray was fine. Needless to say it left a very frustrated ER doctor.. Things went down hill pretty quickly after we convinced him to let them intubate him to help him breathe. In the end the coroner said he died of a ruptured splenetic artery aneurysm. He said we were lucky to get him to the hospital. He also said that in the hospital with emergency surgery there is and 80% fatality rate. The CT Scan showed inflammation and that was masking the hemorrhaging that was going on into his abdomen. Heavenly Father decided it was his time.
