Bailey Campout

We were in charge of our Bailey family reunion this year. We did an August camp out in North Fork Park. Nancy and I went up early and staked out our camp spots. Then everyone headed up after work. It was beautiful, peaceful and lots of fun. One of the highlights is that John has been planning a lip sync battle. It had to have been one of the funniest things we've done. So many people were involved and it was a complete riot. I think Kyla and Ryan may have been the winners. Kyla did "With Somebody Who Loves Me", Ryan did "Shakira"- they were hilarious. John did "Ganstas Paradise", and he and I did "Endless Love". Nancy and I did "It's All About the Base", Cole did "Fight Song", Saylee did "", and Quincy did something too. Wayne's family had one, and Rick did too. By the end we had Gram and Gramp dancing too, it was really a lot of fun.
The next day we went on a hike to see Ryan's eagle project bridge. Lots of cousin time, dirt, laughter and fun. We love our family time!

Trek

John and I had the awesome opportunity to go on Trek this year. We were so excited, and had an amazing time! We left Monday, July 13th and returned Thurs the 15th. Our little "family" was adorable, and was seriously the best!!! None of them ever complained at all, and we had a ton of fun.
The first day, we met at the church early and had a devotional. We met our family...Ben, JC, Tyce, McCall, Abby, Brooklyn and Kenan. Then we headed out on the bus. We sat towards the back, and quickly got to know our family. John is a pro at getting to know kids, and getting them to talk. We played games, learned pioneer stuff, slept and talked.
We stopped at Martin's Cove, and did our first handcart pull. We had started with a devotional and had another along the way. We also did the silent pull for a bit. It was a great start to trek.
The next day we pulled handcarts for about 3-4 miles again.
The last day we pulled carts for 10 miles! It was a long day,but our family did awesome! We played "kick the rock" along the way, along with several other made up games. About half-way through we discovered that it was easier to push/pull the cart if someone sat on the back. We all took turns riding for awhile, then we "adopted" a friend who needed a lift the rest of the way. We went through several streams, it rained, I had to run a mile to a restroom, we went up rocky ridge, several devotionals, womans pull, races with other carts, and finally the we came down into camp.
Games of 7 (and every other #), family night, great food and amazing relationships built.

August Memories

Some of our August memories...

The kids sold their Harry Potter wands at the farmers market. They worked hard all day and sold every last one of them. People really enjoyed the wands and the kids had fun hanging out and seeing people. They had 26 wands and sold them for $4 each. The very last wand was the hardest to sell, but they stuck with it and were determined to sell it. Lots of hard work, but now they have Disney $!

Andrew started "computer preschool". He's doing Upstart this year and he was super excited. We went to a little orientation where they told us about the program and he took a pretest. He was super excited and he absolutely loves the program. Growing up too fast!!!

More work and Grandma and Grandpa Baileys! We are determined to teach these kids some good working skills. They have been putting saw dust in the baby calf pens to keep them dry and warm. The kids don't always love it, but they get it done. Some days they work harder than others, but we hope they've learned a bit about hard work! We always get the fun part too, daddy is hauling them in the bucket of the tractor.

We went to a Raptor's game!

And a Bee's game!!! We miss our season ticket family pass days (they don't sell them the way they used too), but we love when we get to go! It was kids $1 food night so they all got hot dogs and drinks. We had a great time at the park and even got to go on the same night as Gram and Gramp. Love our baseball games!

Weber County fair time! The highlight this year was the Ogden Mustangs Hockey booth. The kids all won hats and a couple of T-shirts. We also enjoyed the petting zoo. Those little, crazy, hungry goats are always super cute!

Playing hockey with a cowboy hat on and a sucker in his mouth- he was a little viscous and hit one of the hockey guys!

This boy loves hockey!

Cousin sleep over and Summer Olympics! These are the best times, they kids always look forward to cousin time. They played in the creek, had a cook out, painted the driveway with chalk and water, and spent the whole next day doing their "Summer Olympics". Super fun times!

We had some fun at Seven Peaks. Drew and Madi love the little slides, Cole and Saylee love the big slides. Fun water days!

The horses had to get shoes on, so dad brought them by for a visit. It's always fun to see people do a double take when they see a horse in the city. Our neighbor Helen came over to pet Kate too. We love our pets!

Madi got some sunflower seeds from church so she planted them. They grew so big!

Just some cute Sunday after church pictures...

Cole earned his Second Class Scout award. He got to walk over the "bridge" of boys. He's loving Scouts and working hard to pass off all his stuff. His leader is Brother Godfrey and Cole really enjoys learning from him.
