Tuesday Special

Four years ago today I was mellow when I should’ve been scared. That’s a complete understatement. I can hardly remember what I did during the day, but I do remember what I didn’t do. I knew I was having Estella the next day and that I should be preparing to bring a baby girl home. Instead I didn’t even pack a bag or a cute outfit to bring her home in. I had a room prepared and I was ready to finally give birth. Only I wasn’t really sure if she would be coming home at all.

Here we are at 7 months-we both had our babies in Sept and I don't think they were more than a week apart

I just knew this one was different from my first. I knew that gaining less than 50 pounds this time around was a miracle. I hear your second is always bigger and since Tommy was 9.9 when he was born and is now 6’2” I just knew she should have been HUGE. And of course we all know what that does to me. POOF-big as a house! She didn’t move around as often. To tell you the truth I didn’t notice any of these. They were just comparisons against having a very big active boy. I liked carrying a little girl. I was more prepared this time. When they announced it was a girl all 9 of us (you should have seen the technicians face when they kept coming!) hugged, laughed and Tommy cried. I knew it was girl before she was even a twinkle in my eye. If I continued to have babies I think I would have another girl or two before a boy rolled out.

The night before her delivery, which would be today-Tommy could hardly keep his emotions in check. I was exhausted with all the questioning and having to think about her being born. Tommy worried all night and we cried for awhile.

The first thing I remember the dr said about Estella was that she reached her arm out of my womb. Then joked to her daddy that baby was asking for his credit card. Little did we know just how true that would be come. I immediately cried when she did. I finally had let my wall of faith crumble and I wanted to tell them to put her back! She was whisked away with daddy and I barley saw her china doll face. Tommy had the biggest grin like a Cheshire cat! He had no second guesses about leaving his wife to care for his daughter. He watched as they prepped her for surgery. She was stuck with needles, IV’s, and had tubes shoved through her nose and mouth. I can’t even imagine watching that be done. A nurse came in with an old Polaroid of my goopy eyed girl. Her arms at this point where already taped to boards to hold her still. The faded picture was so fresh it became clearer before my own eyes. It was all I would get to see for almost 2 days. It was a shot of her chest and above. Not exposing the massive intestines and reproductive organs that were exposed.

Instead of being able to plan when I could take her home, I was planning how I would go out in public with out a newborn?! Have you ever done that? Leave a maternity ward were your arms ache more than your belly that now had a scar from hip to hip? It felt wrong.

One of the best days of my life was when I went with Estefan to pick up Estella and take her HOME! Till this day I can’t believe when they told me, “do you wanna take her home tomorrow?” Later I would learn that it was too soon but she never went back. My sweet 5 pounder came home on Friday the 13th. It was a good day. One of the best.

She wore a pumpkin hat that I had to roll a couple of times to fit her small head. The Dr. who did the surgery even commented on her “perfect little head.” Of all the babies he had stood over to fix at Sunrise, he couldn’t remember one having a better shaped head. I totally agreed! It really was just so round and proportioned so well. It shocked the heck out of Estefan when I placed her next to him and he pulled of her hat.Until that day he hadn't seen mommy hold his baby sister or touched her tiny hands. Maybe he believed it was all a hoax. He couldn't believe her hair was like black cotton! FUZZZ

Happy Birthday My Miracle Miracle Baby-cause all babies are miracle but she beat the odds twice

Just days before we left:)

First time shame on you second time....

You know that phrase when it rains it pours? I have a perfect example of that. When last week Estella got her head stuck in the fence I figured that would be the first and last time.
In five years we haven’t had that happen. There is ONE single opening out of, OH let’s say 200-openings that my eight year old can still slide out of.
That being said, he has never had his head stuck. Well leave it to his younger, less intelligent, little sis to finally “fill the void.” While talking with my SIL and BIL out front, Estella called for me to puller head out. I pulled, I called for Tommy and I cursed those big ears of hers! So I laughed all the way to the pantry to get some canola oil. I greased her ears and I waited for the slow and steady pop that I’ve seen in cartoons.
Nothing.
So I did the next best thing I could do for her a grabbed my camera to record the humorous event. The guys slid her body up and down, all the while holding her body parallel to the ground. For all you who don’t know the difference between parallel and perpendicular. Parallel is like an airplane, only in this case Daddy wasn’t making noises as he magically tried to find the wide spot she slipped her noggin in.

By the time I started recording she had quit screaming and Aunt Laura was loving her and keeping her calm. Again while I laughed, Laura loved. The air plane trick or oil didn’t work. So Tommy got his jack outta his truck and tried to jack it apart. Slowly she slid her head out and was free. Free to cry that is!
If you look close in this video you can see her sniff up her snot*.
It’s funny cause in the end she asks for her mama when it’s I who is going to embarrass her when I show her these and other video’s.

What you think the story is over, no cause if you were paying attention you would’ve remembered that I said it happened TWICE!
The second time happened to Logan who is two years old and blond. I have been babysitting him and his older sister for awhile now.

While doing dishes, I had a good eye on him through our window as he played under the tree. What I was worried about the most was the pool with water in it. I opened the window so I could hear a splash if it came to that. Or a scream. The last thing I needed was getting fired because of some blue kid.

When I couldn’t see him I ran out there cause I thought….the worse. But I heard moaning and turned to see little, red ears that I was very familiar with. They looked exactly like Estella’s when she too had gotten her head stuck in the fence. BTW it was in a different spot. So I tried finding the magic spot by lifting, sliding him up and down, and pulling gently all the while. It didn’t work with Estella but I was so panicked (hey this isn’t my kid!) that when I slid him to the top and pulled his head lodged (like it was going to fit, then didn‘t) and he kinda had to hang out there with his feet sweeping the grass below! Yikes no good-time to push back and set him down. I said don’t cry and left him there to find my phone. Two steps from the door I realized my phone was in my pocket. Great! Now lets see, who do I call? Where is the jack? Tommy’s truck is at work with him along with every other guy I know. Hmmm…so I ran back and tried to spread the bars myself! HAHA okay you’ve heard of adrenaline fueled mothers who lifted entire cars when their kids were trapped. Well I guess I wasn’t panicked enough (I did think about taking a picture, then remembered I didn’t want proof) and I couldn’t separate the bars.

So what does every girl do when she needs help? She calls her mom! Well in my case it was my MIL. And she said she was getting out the door right now! Two brains are better than one, right! Well as I walked over to Logan who I felt like should have a trough at least! You know to make up for the 3 minutes he’s been like that. You know to keep his mind off of the situation too.

Then the clouds parted and it stopped raining. My bright idea lit the whole sky as the sun shown down on my perfectly cut A-line, head. So okay I just had a bright idea that 5 adults couldn’t think of just days before. I walked to the other side and put my arms out to Logan. And guess what? He walked right through the bars to me.

The End.

*video and pics coming soon(:

worlds within worlds or someother junk like that

I’m so into lists. Mental one’s are my choice of use. I would write them down but I guess you could say that I just never get around to it. So when I think or what’s on my mind (that’s weird to say!) I usually have bullet points and use sentences (again in my head) that start out with A then B then C and so on.

I thought why not actually start writing it down, particularly on my blog?

I usually have a today list in my head, a week list in my head and a month list in my head. I also have a year list in there but it only contains around 5 items at most, while today’s list usually has the most.

Today’s list:

Pay water/power

Pay house

Car payment too-phew!

Get gas-ya I actually put things like that on my mental list

Get a belt (that’s tooo BIG) fixed at the boot place-I’ve been trying to do this for a week!

Think of lunch-babysitting 2 kids for 3 weeks that calls for kid friendly meals like hotdogs

Get the newspaper-article left out? Again? Probably.

Take Estefan to library to pick out movie

Return redbox-after forgetting 3 nights

Clean bathroom-maybe.

Dinner-ugh hate thinking that far ahead

Defrost some chicken for din, maybe?

Blog! Blog! Blog! I have tons to blog about and need too!

What’s been on my mind but I haven’t gotten around too:

Look for that outfit tommy likes-it’s our anniversary this week;)

Estherlynn’s b-day gift- it was over a month ago*sigh*

Make a shopping list of things I want, when tommy and I go to Vegas this week

Call the hotel to confirm reservations

Preschool for Estella! Find one asap!

E-mail Monica(cousin) back

Take clothes to a different monica-(also cousin but on other side)

Take clothes to susie-guess you can say that I cleaned out kids closets!

Thought about cleaning out MY closet-nah it’s okay

Wonder what I’m going to ask for my birthday-which is a whole other list

Sign up for Zumba!

Birthday wish list:

H&M card-anyone! And easy for family members to have to only pitch in 20 bucks

And apron-specifically one that’s 50’s style

Um I really didn’t want anything and it took me a great deal to think of the two above

Shopping list for Vegas stay this week:

Boots-2 pairs for Tommy-none for me

2 sound machines for the kids’ room-I swear our walls are getting thinner;)

Leotard, tights, and ballet shoes for stella

Look at wedding band rings-Tommy said on the 5th ann. we could finally get a third piece

Wonder if Tommy wants to get me anything for my birthday and whether he will let me pick it out?

Get a smoking’ outfit for some upcoming pictures

Paper cups, plates, utensils, napkins-kids+more=lots dishes.

Maybe do a little shopping for Estella’s birthday this month too- that will take up two separate lists!

Now see how one lists turns into another? I have lists within lists.

swimming like ducks

AHHH!
We swim a WHOLE bunch during the summer! Litterally 2-3 times at least, a week!

Isn't he one of the cutest toddlers around!
<><>

Isaac hanging on like a monkey
This cute teeny baby has a mommy who looks like she never had a baby
water babies
Brett seting up Estefan with a nice belly flop
Lets see. I think around a week ago I went swimming with Esther, Brett, Roe, Eric, Brian, Jill, Isaac, Jackson, Anna, Estefan, and Estella.

Here's some pictures of the day. Estefan actually threw me in with my camera. I lunged to the edge, while cranking my body sideways, just in time for my elbow to slam against the edge of the pool in an upwards motion. Yup it felt GREAT!

So I pulled off his shorts and threw them outta the pool!

going waaay back....

It's funny how you determine dates not by the date but by a major event before or after it.

For me it's Texas.

caution: all these pictures are BAD! either too goofy, dark, BIG eyes, or blurry:)
So before I went to Texas I went to Esther's to make bows. Brooke, Jodi, Esther, Becca and I all came without our babes. Okay so Eric attended the first half hour. But he lives there and we couldn't kick him out

And who would want too anyways.

So we had really sugary popcorn, really sugary rice krispies layered with sugary stuff, and my favorite? Some cheap off brand wanna be Crystal Light from the dollar store. I spilled it on the carpet even!

They all made bows. I didn't. In case anyone forgot. My daughter doesn't have HAIR! So to me it's a waste of material and time. Esther made me one though! And I admit I was jealous of their creations.

Oh well.

better than her looking like the biggest 9mo. old you've ever seen!

It's a funny thing...I told all the girls that my camera will take about a buncha pictures really fast and my sister and I like to transition from smiling to funny faces throughout the frames. I even showed them how BEFORE I set the timer. Well this is what Brooke and Jodi did...........

NOTHING!
haha!
I really enjoyed meeting Brooke's cousin Jodi! What a babe! and nice to boot:) Some girls have it all.
