Summer H. Howell is Carrie White in 'Carrie' Horror Series Full Trailer
"You could settle this right now, you know." Prime Video has debuted the main official trailer for the new horror series titled Carrie, once again adapting the Stephen King novel of the same name, about a girl with telekinesis powers. From horror mastermind Mike Flanagan – who is directing & writing & producing this as his next creation following his recent movie The Life of Chuck. Streaming in October in the fall to watch during horror season. "She just wanted a friend. They gave her a fight." A shy girl with telekinetic powers is bullied, leading to a horrific, bloody incident at her high school due to her domineering mother's influence. Told over 8 propulsive episodes in this new take, the series expands King's cultural landmark — deepening its characters & tensions, and following the small, everyday choices that build up toward a single, shattering night, in this gripping, deeply human story about kindness versus cruelty, and whether we're witnessing the making of a hero, a monster, or something far more complicated. Starring newcomer Summer H. Howell as the young Carrie, with Samantha Sloyan, Siena Agudong, Alison Thornton, Joel Oulette, Josie Totah, Arthur Conti, Thalia Dudek, Amber Midthunder, and Matthew Lillard. Whoa - this looks pretty dang good! And very timely (again) commenting on bullies & social media problems with teens today.
Jake Gyllenhaal in M. Night Shyamalan's 'Remain' Supernatural Teaser
"Trust the Unknown." Warner Bros has revealed the first look teaser trailer for the next brand new M. Night Shyamalan movie titled Remain, his new Nicholas Sparks romance movie that he co-wrote with the famous author. Created by Shyamalan with Sparks (who published the story as a novel already), this "supernatural love story" stars Jake Gyllenhaal as reclusive New York architect Tate Donovan. He heads to Cape Cod to design a summer home for his best friend, seeking a fresh start after being treated for acute depression. Still mourning his sister's death, he meets Wren, a young woman who disrupts his carefully ordered world. While staying at a historic B&B, he starts to fall for this mysterious woman who makes him question his rational beliefs about life and loss. Gyllenhaal stars alongside Phoebe Dynevor as Wren, Ashley Walters, Julie Hagerty, and Jay O. Sanders. Shyamalan's follow-up to Trap features cinematography by award-winning DP Adolpho Veloso (Trian Dreams) and a score by his regular collaborator James Newton Howard. Venice 2026 Awards: 'Woman Unknown' & 'Possible Love' Top Prizes
Who's taking the Golden Lion home this year? At the end of it all, we finally have our winners. The 83nd Venice Film Festival wrapped up this weekend on the Lido island in Venice, and awards were handed out at a fancy awards show in the Sala Grande. The top prize at Venice is a Golden Lion (in honor of the iconic lion that is the symbol of the city) and it's one of the top prizes in cinema along with the Palme d'Or from Cannes (which was given to Cristian Mungiu in May). This year's winner is the film Woman Unknown, a Danish feature about a woman just after World War II living in Denmark dealing with intense accusations following the war. Just like last year's oddball pick, this is another entirely unexpected Golden Lion winner – and a film that most critics (even those who like it) agree isn't really the best film at the fest and shouldn't have won. Then again, it is the only film in the Venice Competition line-up that is directed by a woman, and the jury was lead by Maggie Gyllenhaal this year. She stated she preferred this film because it hit her like a "laser beam" over others. I think it's a good film, though not a great film after some other favorites: Possible Love (which did get the second place prize), Wild Horse Nine (which did get Best Actor), Naza (which got a special prize), and Look Back. Full Trailer for 'Tip Toe' Series with Alan Cumming & David Morrissey
"I used to walk into a room and just go, 'Ta da!' Now I tip toe... just in case." Starz has debuted their new official US trailer for the fascinating LGBTQ mini-series titled Tip Toe, made by Welsh screenwriter Russell T. Davies. The series already aired in the UK a few months ago, earning plenty of acclaim and great reviews. It's now ready for release in the US starting in October via Starz. Neighbors Leo, a Canal Street bar owner, and Clive, an electrician with 2 sons, find their lives unraveling as social tensions rise. Simple disagreements escalate into dangerous hostility in their Manchester suburb. Set in the UK, this is about how social media is twisting & deeply corrupting the minds of some people. Alan Cumming and David Morrissey star, along with Elizabeth Berrington, Denise Welch, Pooky Quesnel, Jackson Connor, Joseph Evans, Iz Hesketh, and Gabriel Clark. Venice 2026: Koreeda's 'Look Back' is a Charming Story of Friendship
"Thank you for getting me out of my room." This is a beautiful story about friendship & why friends matter so much. One of the highlights of the 2026 Venice Film Festival is this new film Look Back, a live-action version of both the original manga and the anime of the same name. Look Back is the second feature film directed by award-winning Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Koreeda this year. His other one, Sheep in the Box, premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival and it was one of my least favorite films of that fest. What a flip to that experience! Koreeda's Look Back is one of my favorite films of this fest. A delightful, inspiring, wholesome coming-of-age story about two shy girls who bond over their love for drawing manga. Yes, there is a darker side to the story (as everyone who knows the manga / anime is already familiar with) but I can't help admitting I still feel so moved by how wonderful the rest of this story is anyway. I'm not surprised that Koreeda made another beautiful film about young Japanese kids finding their place & finding happiness in their own way – he's a master at telling these stories. Another "tenderness is the new punk" film from 2026.

Meghann Fahy & Rose Byrne are Sisters in 'The Good Daughter' Teaser
"Why the hell are they here?" "Because you're here." Peacock has revealed the chilling first teaser trailer for the upcoming series The Good Daughter, arriving for streaming in November this fall. Created & written by Karin Slaughter, based on her novel of the same name – which was originally described as "A Chilling Psychological Horror Novel of Family Bonds and Haunting Memories." Sisters Charlotte & Samantha Quinn have spent the last 20 years trying to piece together the lives that were fractured by one night of violence. When another attack splinters the small town of Pikeville, Charlotte – now a lawyer like her father – is the first witness on the scene. As the case unfolds and twists through painful memories and buried secrets, what emerges is not just a story of survival, but of enduring ties and complex bonds. Starring Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy as sisters Samantha & Charlotte, along with Brendan Gleeson, Harper Steele, Paula Malcomson, Jake McDorman, Olivia Williams, and Michael Dorman. This is a properly unsettling teaser setting up the premise involving these masked men taking these women when they were young. Now they're back decades later and ready to reconcile. And perhaps get revenge? You'll have to watch to find out.

First Trailer for Herbert Nordrum's 'Growth of the Soil' Set in Norway
"What if we actually succeeded?" Beta Cinema has debuted the first trailer for Growth of the Soil, a love story set in Norway from filmmaker Hans Petter Moland. He's back again this year with a new film which is premiering at the 2026 Toronto Film Festival this month. It's playing at both TIFF and San Sebastian, and was already selected by Norway as their Oscar submission film this year. Based on the Nobel Prize winning novel by Knut Hamsun, this epic story is set against the harsh yet spectacular backdrop of the Norwegian mountains and directed by one of Norway's best directors, Hans Petter Moland (In Order of Disappearance, Out Stealing Horses). Two humans against nature, breaking new ground on the outskirts somewhere in northern Norway. Guided by the elementary needs of life, where abilities are put to the test as the challenges loom. But can their love last? Starring Herbert Nordrum (from The Worst Person in the World), Asta Kamma August, Gard B. Eidsvold, Anders Baasmo, Oddgeir Thune, and Sjur Vatne Brean. TIFF adds: "Moland and his superb cast ensure that Hamsun’s story of how this couple’s hard-won home cannot protect them from history’s wider forces — or from more human sorts of frailties and failings — comes to the screen with all the grace & gravity it deserves." Reminds me of Godland - the reality of living from the land.

Tut Nyuot Stars in Excellent Prison Drama 'Animol' Official UK Trailer
"Can anyone tell me what shame feels like?" Sky TV has revealed an official UK trailer for acclaimed prison drama titled Animol, an indie film that's the feature directional debut of actor Ashley Walters. It premiered at Berlinale earlier this year and has been playing at festivals around the world the rest of the year. Behind the walls of a juvenile detention center, young inmates navigate friendship, identity, and personal growth while confronting harsh realities following their own paths to redemption. Troy is sent into the brutal world of British prisons, but his bond with a fellow inmate offers some solace. Similar to the film Great Freedom, and also similar to the other UK prison film Wasteman last year. This introduces rising talents, Tut Nyuot (in The Long Walk) and Vladyslav Baliuk as two teenagers embroiled in the prison's harsh environment. Stephen Graham also co-stars as the Welfare Officer tasked with supporting the young offenders during their incarceration and Sharon Duncan-Brewster plays Troy's mother, too. I've just seen this one only a few months ago and it's good, really good, with an exceptional performance by Tut Nyuot. Get a look below.

Full Trailer for 'November 1963' JFK Conspiracy Film w/ John Travolta
"Do you vouch for him? What if he misses?" Ketchup Entertainment has unveiled the official trailer for the film November 1963, a conspiracy thriller revisiting JFK's assassination in 1963. From Oscar-nominated filmmaker Roland Joffé (of The Killing Fields, The Mission, Fat Man & Little Boy, City of Joy, The Scarlet Letter), who I thought was retired, but apparently not. November 1963 unfolds over a tense, 48-hour period surrounding one of the most shocking events in American history: the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. This film focuses on the other theory: that maybe the mob killed him. Starring John Travolta, Robert Carlyle, Dermot Mulroney, Mandy Patinkin, and Jefferson White, the film draws on first-hand accounts and insights from the family of Chicago crime boss Sam Giancana, and explores the alleged deal between Joe Kennedy and the Chicago Outfit that helped put JFK in the White House and the deadly betrayal that followed. "With a secret plan, a second shooter waiting in the shadows, and a 'patsy' positioned to take the fall, November 1963 reveals a side of the JFK assassination rarely seen before." Well, this looks like a weird film. Why tell this story now & shift the focus from the CIA? Why is Travolta so into this? Huh.

Wacky Fun Teaser for 'Flapjax' Gooey Gross Sci-Fi Horror Comedy Film

Bad Taste Video has launched the first trailer for Flapjax, a fun new gross out, extra gooey horror comedy made by filmmaker Rocko Zevenbergen. A wacky fun sci-fi comedy creation from the same people behind Bad Taste Video podcast – this is premiering at Fantastic Fest this fall. "Blending the cinematic influences of Ozu and Cronenberg, Flapjax is a wild, unsettling, and heartfelt." This teaser is plenty to make me hungry for more! An over-eager fast-food manager unknowingly executes plans of an alien race by serving a deadly new item on the menu: FLAPJAX. 🥞 He soon becomes ensnared by the company's true intentions and his deeply rooted mommy issues. The film stars Gabriel Cagan, Georgia Kate Haege, Madeline Barbush, Estevan Muñoz, Kaoru Koide, Takumi Mitobe, & Daniel Berkey. "So consume this feast you must! Flapjax is sure to go into the darkest corners of your stomach and sure to be a blast with a Fantastic Fest audience." Always amused by weird low budget indie creations - packed with so much cinematic creativity.
Quick New Restoration Comparison Trailer for 'Ken Russell's The Devils'

Warner Bros Clockwork debuted another new promo trailer for Ken Russell's The Devils restored & uncut & ready to shock again in 4K this fall. This comparison trailer is just a quick before/after look at footage from one key scene in the movie and how much better it looks now. This is Clockwork's first official release, a restoration of a controversial, one-of-a-kind, 1970s masterpiece that has been hidden from view for decades. It premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival and plays at Sitges & TIFF, too. Ken Russell's The Devils is the definitive vision based on the edit he privately constructed in 2004. In the film set in 17th-century France, Father Grandier's protection of the city of Loudun from the corrupt Cardinal Richelieu is brought down by a sexually repressed nun's accusation of witchcraft. Vanessa Redgrave stars as Sister Jeanne, with Oliver Reed as Father Grandier and Gemma Jones as Madeleine. Over 164,472 frames of 35mm film were restored to bring to life Ken Russell's The Devils in 2026. I cannot wait to experience this film on the big screen! It shall be glorious and unforgettable.

Trailer #3 for Eaten by a Whale Movie 'Whalefall' with Austin Abrams
"What are you going to do? Just accept your fate?" No way! Get out of there! 🐳 20th Century Studios has revealed another new trailer for the movie Whalefall, a must watch totally crazy survival thriller breaching its way into theaters in October. I am baffled by this! Such insane footage! I still can't believe they made this for real. This is the tale of a man swallowed by a whale. But instead of being unrealistic or fantastical (like in the Pinocchio story), it's an actually realistic and unsettling look at what would happened to someone if this really happened. It's adapted from the novel of the same name written by Daniel Kraus. "The odds of being swallowed alive by a whale are not zero." A young scuba diver searching for his father's remains in the ocean is swallowed by a sperm whale, leaving him an hour to find a way to escape. The hard-earned lessons that his late father imparted may be the key to his escape. Whalefall stars Austin Abrams as the diver eaten by the whale, with Josh Brolin, Elisabeth Shue, John Ortiz, Jane Levy & Emily Rudd. The first teaser debuted earlier in the summer and really made an impact. This trailer shows all of his challenges surviving in the multiple stomachs in the whale and I'm just in awe. How did they even make this?! Wild. I'm so there.

Superb US Trailer for Hamaguchi's 'All of a Sudden' 2026 Masterpiece
"Are healthy people truly alive?" Neon has revealed the first official trailer for the wonderful new film titled All of a Sudden, made by master filmmaker Ryusuke Hamaguchi. After making Drive My Car and Evil Does Not Exist, this is next film and it's set in Paris and shot in the French language (along with Japanese of course). It premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival and I declared it a masterpiece in my review. It's utterly breathtaking and sublime in every possible way. Director of a care facility for the elderly, Marie-Lou (Efira) strives to introduce an innovative care philosophy based on listening & respecting residents' dignity, despite resistance from part of her staff. Her encounter with Mari (Okamoto), a Japanese theater director battling cancer, will profoundly reshape her path. By forming a deep, supportive friendship, the two women join forces in a shared struggle to "make the impossible possible." Starring Virginie Efira, Tao Okamoto, Kyōzō Nagatsuka, Teruyo Kurosaki. With a score by Canadian-French composer Samuel Andreyev. This is still my #1 film of 2026 so far - I absolutely adore it. It's so tender and touching and uplifting and hopeful. I could listen to Efira & Okamoto's conversations for hours and hours. I never want to leave them after this! They're the best. This is one of my top must see films of 2026 when it opens in theaters this fall.

Still looks a lot like Inside Out 2 with a very similar story about moving away and looking back into the past.
