Royd Tolkien's ALS Doc 'There's a Hole In My Bucket' Official Trailer
"The best tribute isn't a speech—it's a bucket list." An official trailer is available for this documentary film titled There's a Hole In My Bucket, which is playing next at the Newport Beach Film Festival this fall. The film follows Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien's great grandson Royd Tolkien taking us on a big adventure. Roy's brother, Mike, was diagnosed with ALS (aka motor neuron disease). Royd nursed him through his final years of life to find that Mike had left him his bucket list to fulfill on his behalf – but he won't know what he's facing until the tasks are revealed. After his younger brother is gone, Royd, the risk-averse great-grandson of J.R.R., inherits a sealed list of fifty intense challenges that he never agreed to and cannot refuse. Narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch + featuring appearances by Peter Jackson, Billy Boyd, John Rhys-Davies, and Weta Workshop. "It became a journey of discovery and inspiration, and a reminder of just how sweet and precious life can be in the very little time we have to live it," Tolkien explains. It's not just a story of another bucket list – it's a personal tale of family, love, grief, and challenging oneself to grow.

Official US Trailer for Terrific Iranian Film 'The Friend's House is Here'
"Everyday, everything is up in the air." Bleecker Street has revealed the official US trailer for an acclaimed indie film from Iran titled The Friend's House is Here, another rebellious story of artists in Tehran. This premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, where it won the US Dramatic Special Jury Award for Ensemble Cast. It's a US project filmed entirely in Iran, so they premiered it in the US Dramatic section. In Tehran's underground art scene, two women build a blissful world of freedom and sisterhood. But when their creative circle is exposed, they must fight to save each other... Described as a "sophisticated and heroic celebration" made by talented filmmakers who are the "modern day heir to virtuosos Panahi and Kiarostami." Starring Mahshad Bahram, Hana Mana, Farzad Karen, and Zohreh Pirnia. Arriving in the US to watch starting in December this fall during the awards season - they're hoping to get some more attention when it opens. This is a film about how hard it is to resist and be free to create art your way living within such a harsh regime. I have so much respect for these artists! Very good film -entirely worth a watch.

Creepy First Look Teaser for 'The Third Parent' Horror Feat. Rob Lowe
"Can I help you?" Bleecker Street has finally revealed a first look teaser for a dark new horror movie called The Third Parent, the latest inspired-by-the-internet horror feature on the menu in early 2027. This film has been apeparing on the release schedule for years, shifting dates and being pushed back over & over – now it's officially, finally set and ready for release in January 2027. Amidst the 4th of July celebrations, a disturbing figure named Tommy Taffy (played by Crispin Glover) emerges, disguising himself as a human to infiltrate a suburban neighborhood and impose authoritarian rule over an unsuspecting family. "Your family will soon be complete." Inspired by the viral "creepypasta" series of internet-based stories from writer Elias Witherow. Starring Rob Lowe, Crispin Glover, Roselyn Sánchez, Bethany Milner, Rafael de Belligny, Gary Michael Walters. This is an effective teaser that doesn't really show much at all (except all these freaky drawings), but it will get your attention and make you wonder what's coming next with this ominous figure at the door. I definitely do not want this "third parent" around my family at all. Stay tuned.

First Look Teaser for Jean-Pierre Jeunet's 'Violette' with Leïla Bekhti
"You can't be at peace with life, unless you're at peace with death." Studiocanal has revealed the must see first look teaser trailer for the French film titled Violette, the latest from beloved French filmmaker Jean-Pierre Jeunet (also of Delicatessen, The City of Lost Children, Alien: Resurrection, Amélie, A Very Long Engagement, Micmacs). It's his next since that sci-fi disaster Bigbug a few years ago and looks much, much better. French-Algerian actress Leïla Bekhti (from All That Glitters, "Beirut", "Midnight Sun", "The Eddy") stars as the titular Violette. Based on the international bestseller "Fresh Water for Flowers." The peaceful life of Violette, a cemetery caretaker in a small town in Burgundy, is disrupted when a local police chief's arrival uncovers long-buried secrets, pushing her to confront her past to take another chance on life and love. The new movie also features Matthias Schoenaerts, Melvil Poupaud, Anouk Grinberg, Sergio Castellitto, Alban Lenoir, and Elodie Batard Gaultier. This feels much more like something similar to Jeunet's classic Amelie than his more dark & weird sci-fi films previously. This looks absolutely wonderful so far! Still not entirely sure what is going on with her, but excited to watch and find out more. View below.

Anthony Mackie & Jamie Dornan in Heist Series '12 12 12' Full Trailer
"The fed doesn't know where we are..." "And he doesn't know what we're really stealing." 🇨🇭 Apple TV has launched the first official trailer for a series titled 12 12 12, a heist drama about pulling off a heist in Zurich and the aftermath / hunt to find them. This is ready for release starting in November this fall streaming on Apple TV directly. Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan star in this heist drama. 12 months to plan. 12 hours to execute. 12 days to make it out alive. Three intertwined timelines follow the planning and execution of a daring heist in Zurich and its aftermath as an FBI agent pursues a master criminal across Europe. An interesting concept. The series full cast includes Jack Kesy, Agathe Rousselle, Sallie Harmsen, José Garcia, Kali Reis. The series covers three separate stages surrounding a heist in Zurich: the 12 months of planning leading up to the heist, the 12 hours during the heist itself, and the 12 days following the heist. I'm always a sucker for heist stories because I wanna know how they pulled it off and what happens next.

Official Trailer for 'The Disciple: A Wu-Tang Fable' - Crazy Story Doc
"Would you ever do it again?" Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a new documentary film titled The Disciple: A Wu-Tang Fable, a fascinating story about the Wu-Tang Clan and one fan getting into their inner circle. This doc premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year under the simpler title just The Disciple, and has played at other festivals this year as well. The true story of an outsider whose relentless determination catapults him into the Wu-Tang Clan’s inner circle, where ambition and creativity converge to record an album poised to ignite global controversy. It's about the infamous album that only rich people can own because there is only one copy of it. The film traces the decades-long journey of Dutch-Moroccan rapper & producer Cilvaringz, who transformed himself from the group's most devoted fan into the unlikeliest of disciples to his childhood heroes, including RZA, whose mentorship shapes the odyssey that follows. The result is Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, a 31-track secret album packaged in an ornate, handcrafted silver box. Only one copy will ever legally exist. But this is a film with a more upbeat message: "Ultimately, I think it asks us to consider what we can do with the time we have — and how we can use it to create something meaningful, ambitious and, hopefully, something that makes people feel good." 🎧 Enjoy.

They're Back! First Look Teaser for 'Common Side Effects' Season 2
"Marshall - what about our plan?" "Our answers are going to be found deeper in the portal." Onward they go. 🍄 Marshall and Frances are back again for more trippy mayhem in the next season of this cult favorite animated series. Adult Swim is ready to premiere Season 2 of the series Common Side Effects, the cult fave indie animation series created by Joe Bennett & Steve Hely. This is a direct continuation of the very peculiar, trippy, one-of-a-kind series about this guy and a girl who discover a blue glowing mushroom that can heal people. But the Big Pharma guys come after them and get the DEA on them. In Season 2, Marshall and Frances are back on another new mysterious adventure with plenty of twists and turns. Voiced again by Dave King and Emily Pendergast, along with Matthew Maher heard in this footage. This teaser has some super funky imagery showing up already, and I am pumped because this series is awesome. Totally mind-bending. The first season is excellent and I highly recommend it if you haven't watched yet. This looks like it's going to get even weirder - playing on Adult Swim in early 2027. I can't wait to watch this. Who else?
Full Trailer for Slacker Comedy 'Junk' with Schwimmer, Ryder, Malone
"When we were young, we used to go to double features! Now, these drug-addled Gen-Zers cant even sit through one whole film." Mubi has revealed the trailer for a "chaotic, darkly comedic" film titled Junk, with a series of stories set in Los Angeles marking the feature directorial debut of music video filmmaker Jack Begert. After nearly three years of waiting in limbo, Mubi is finally releasing it. Junk initially premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival under the title Little Death, getting intensely negative reviews calling it one of worst films at the fest that year. They're trying to cover all that up with a title change and hope that releasing it as Junk will get more people to watch it. Doubt it. Nighttime in LA: a pill-addled screenwriter struggles with writer's block; across town, two young drifters with a lost dog search for their stolen car. A slacker odyssey through LA after dark. The life of a bitter & misogynistic screenwriter intersects with the story of two addicts on an odyssey trying to find a stolen backpack. Starring David Schwimmer, Dominic Fike, Talia Ryder, Jena Malone, and Gaby Hoffmann. A wacky trailer for a very wacky film - have fun.

Cheesy Netflix Movie 'A Dog's Perfect Christmas' Trailer with Quaid
"He does not like getting groomed any more than I do." Netflix has unveiled the first official trailer for A Dog's Perfect Christmas, the latest narrated-from-the-POV-of-a-dog comedy in the beloved series of A Dog movies. This adorable holiday romantic comedy for the whole family is set for release on Netflix this November. From the beloved author of the books and movies A Dog's Purpose (2017), A Dog's Way Home (2019), and A Dog's Journey (2019) comes a heartfelt holiday story. Dennis Quaid stars in a tale about the healing power of family, the traditions that bring us together, and the loyal dog who just might help save Christmas. A sage basset hound narrates how his family faces turmoil when Mrs. Goss falls into an induced coma, and a new Corgi pup helps unite the scattered household during their mother's absence. Along with Dennis Quaid, the cast includes Milo Ventimiglia, Brooke Lena Johnson, Kathleen Rose Perkins, Jennifer Tilly, Mary Steenburgen, and featuring Thomas Haden Church, as the voice of Winstead the basset hound. This does look super cute and extra slobbery, of course, more harmless doggie movie fun.

Full Trailer for 'Being Heumann' True Story Film About Judy Heumann
"What if this doesn't work?" "I thought you were a radical crip!" Apple TV debuted their full official trailer for the heroic film titled Being Heumann, the latest feature made by acclaimed Oscar-winning filmmaker Sian Heder – best known for her Best Picture winning film CODA. This recently premiered at TIFF 2026 to mostly good reviews, as expected, as a drama about fighting for disabled rights. The title is a reference to the actual woman named Judy Heumann, a disability rights activist who lead a campaign back in the 70s. The film stars Ruth Madeley as Judy Heumann and opens in November this fall. In 1977, disability rights activist Judy Heumann leads a historic 28-day occupation of San Francisco's Federal Building, uniting protesters in a fight for accessibility laws & equal rights. A powerful new film that chronicles the "mother of the disability rights movement," Judy Heumann, as she leads a group of young adults who come together to find their collective voice in a fight against discrimination. This also co-stars Mark Ruffalo, Madeline Delp, Dylan O'Brien, Will Brill, Michael Patrick Thornton, Antwan Tolliver, Rein Barcel, with Charlie Rush-Reese, and many others. This looks rousing and inspiring, indeed, in the kind of way that might get more of us to open our minds. Definitely another must see when it's out to watch soon in the fall.
