chi-o scholarship

The National Chi Omega organization offers scholarships to alumnae. I know we have some girls in graduate school so I hope this can benefit some of you! Here is the info:

The Alumnae Educational Grant program was established in 1997 by the Foundation Board of Trustees in order to meet the needs of alumnae, 24 years of age or older, desiring to further their education through part-time and full-time studies. Ten $1,000 grants will be awarded in the spring of 2011 on the basis of need, merit and individual goals for study at the college, university and vocational or technical school levels.

The deadline for submitting applications and all requested materials for the Alumnae Educational Grant is Friday, February 4, 2011. Application materials postmarked after February 4, 2011 will not be eligible for consideration.

A copy of the application is available on-line.

The Mary Love Collins Memorial Scholarship was established to assist Chi Omega's interested in pursuing full-time graduate work. Pomegranate Promenade

So all of you chios in Salt Lake listen closely... we are starting to do monthly Chio girls nights. If you are interested let us know and we will get you on the email list.  For those of you out-of-staters we miss you and know you are there in spirit :)

This month we had a "Pomegranate Promenade" where we all made something with pomegranate and voted on our favorites. Congrats to Cassi R. for winning the "golden pom". Thanks to Danielle M. for hosting and Rachel W. for putting it all together.

We will miss Bunny dearly and cherish the memories we had with her.

Ally Baldwin Nelson

Please keep the family of Bunny Watson Bradley in your thoughts and prayers. She passed away last night after a bicycle accident. She was a member of the 1999 pledge class.

Chi O Spirit All Over the World

Ally Baldwin Nelson sent me this picture and I had to post it on here. Her brother, Sam, went on a mission to Madagascar and found this man wearing this hat! The man said he got it from the D.I.
In the words of Ally: "when Sam was in Madagascar he said this guy was given this hat from the D.I! Alright, who is donating their hats? So busted! 'Chi O forever' he says!!"

Chi O Cookbook part deux

Dear Sisters of Xi Alpha,

Our National organization is requiring us to have fire sprinklers installed in the Chi Omega house - this is a good safety measure, but also an expensive one. We are going to start some MAJOR fundraising, and one of the items will include a Chi Omega Cookbook!

We are starting the process of collecting recipes, so if you, your Chi O mom, sister, grandma, etc. have some favorite recipes, please send them to utahchiomegas@yahoo.com.

Please be sure to include your maiden and married name, and the year you pledged. You can also send in favorite recipes in memory of alums that have passed away, just be sure to note that they are deceased. An electronic format of the recipe is preferred and you can use the attached format if that helps, but you can also type, hand write or copy your recipes to send them in.

Please let us know if you would like to put your name on a pre-order list. Just send your request to utahchiomegas@yahoo.com - please include your name, email, phone number and the quantity of cookbooks you would like to purchase. We are hoping to receive recipes by June and have the cookbook ready for purchase in the fall. We will contact each person when the cookbook is finalized to let you know when we are ordering! The price of the cookbook has not yet been determined, but we are hoping it will be approximately $15.00.
