Linking both counties table and list
[edit]16-Dec-2007: Although Template:Texas reduces the nav-box index crisis by not including box links to the 254 counties, it instead links to a very long article about the counties, including 254 map images of those counties. I am changing Template:Texas to link to both a quick "Table of Texas counties" aka Template:Texas_counties, as well as the original list. Linking to that Table of counties will restore the functionality lost in August 2007, when the 254 county-links were removed; however, since the table is a separate article, it will not re-generate the "254,000" additional wiki-links as in the July version of Template:Texas. That table combines the benefits of the old, with the efficiency of the new. -Wikid77 (talk) 09:38, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
Metro areas
[edit]Suggestion: The metro areas section is rather misleading since it does not actually link to the metro areas (and people might indeed want to see these articles). Might I suggest splitting between a "major cities" section and a metro areas section? The number of links specified does not have to increase since many of the towns listed as principal metro area towns can simply be omitted from the "major city" list if they are not major cities. So, for example, Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos (3 links) becomes Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos and Austin (2 links).
White on blue
[edit]Is there a particular reason why this template is white on blue? Wouldn't it be better to just go with the default used by {{navbox}} to avoid having a rainbow at the bottom of the page when this navbox is next to another one and per WP:ACCESSIBILITY? Please let me know if there is a strong reason to have it a particular color. I noticed this was attempted recently, but was reverted, so I thought I would be proactive and start a thread here to avoid an edit war. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 21:34, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
- Since there were no objections, I have gone ahead and made the bold change. Please discuss here before reverting, if you disagree per WP:Deviations. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 21:47, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
Pruning navboxes
[edit]A discussion on whether certain US state navigation boxes should be pruned or otherwise systematically altered is at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject United States#Pruning navboxes. Please comment there. Johnuniq (talk) 06:43, 15 February 2026 (UTC)
