Inappropriate coordinates in Colorado articles

A user or users appear to have placed the same coordinates, 38.9972 N, 105.5478 W, into many articles on Colorado topics. These coordinates are close to the geographic center of the state, but probably not exactly. Some of the articles are on topics that could support coordinates, but many are wholly inappropriate. For example:

• List of people from Colorado
• Timeline of Colorado history
• List of lieutenant governors of Colorado
• Index of Colorado-related articles
• List of African American pioneers of Colorado
• List of amphibians of Colorado
• Colorado Attorney General
• List of Colorado counties by per capita income

These all must be removed. Abductive (reasoning) 07:02, 31 July 2026 (UTC)

• @Abductive: I disagree. I'm the user to which you refer, and I'm the coordinator for this WikiProject. I believe that all articles that relate to the State of Colorado should carry Colorado GPS coordinates. For articles relative to an entire state, I use the United States Geological Survey determined state centroid. I'll be happy to discuss this with you at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Geographical coordinates. Yours aye,  Buaidh  talk e-mail 01:48, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
  • Do other states have coordinates on every article related to the state? Abductive (reasoning) 02:38, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
    • Probably not, and that is a deficiency. Yours aye,  Buaidh  talk e-mail 16:27, 4 August 2026 (UTC)

Ghost towns

A few editors have attempted to delete Wikipedia articles about some small unincorporated communities and ghost towns that they consider insignificant. I feel that any community that was once incorporated, or had a U.S. post office, or is listed in the GNIS as a formerly populated place, deserves a Wikipedia article. A couple of examples are here. Please let me know how you feel about this. Yours aye,  Buaidh  talk e-mail 02:08, 4 August 2026 (UTC)

@Buaidh: You raised this same issue at WT:WikiProject Utah#Ghost towns without leaving a pointer. This is forum shopping. To quote that policy, forum shopping is unhelpful to finding and achieving consensus. Please centralize the discussion at WT:Notability (geographic features). — hike395 (talk) 05:58, 4 August 2026 (UTC)

Discussion centralized at WT:Notability (geographic features)#Ghost towns. Any responses should be directed there. — hike395 (talk) 16:20, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
