Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. has a believer in head coach Jordi Fernandez, who expects him to make his first All-Star team next season. Fernandez praised Porter's work ethic and said he thought the former Denver Nuggets forward should have been in the All-Star conversation last year. Porter was Brooklyn's top scorer in 2025-26, averaging 24.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.1 steals, and 3.4 threes across 52 games before a left hamstring strain ended his season. The fantasy wrinkle is Julius Randle, who arrived in a four-team trade and should command touches in the half court. Porter still carries strong scoring and rebounding appeal, but his All-Star case likely needs both good health and a much more competitive Nets team.
Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Chaney Johnson is working to turn his two-way contract into a standard NBA deal, according to Sharif Phillips-Keaton of Nets Wire. Johnson told NetsDaily's Connor Long on The Brooklyn Boys Show that he is focused on buying into whatever development plan the coaching staff has for him, and his Summer League production helped his case. The 24-year-old undrafted Auburn product averaged 13.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 2.5 steals across six games between the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer League while shooting 66.7 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from three. Still, his two-way role points more toward Long Island Nets minutes than a steady NBA run, leaving him off fantasy radars unless injuries open a path.
The Toronto Raptors signed guard Malachi Smith to an undisclosed contract, the team announced Monday. Smith made his NBA debut with the Brooklyn Nets last season, averaging 8.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists across 15 games while shooting 43.5 percent from three-point range. The 26-year-old flashed late, posting 19 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds against Milwaukee on April 10. With no guaranteed role in Toronto, Smith should be viewed as camp guard depth who could land with Raptors 905 if he misses the final roster. He remains off fantasy radars barring an unexpected rotation path.
