Dashboard Options

The following is a list of available dashboards. I have provided the "Home Power" and the "Individual CT Data" dashboards.

If you have made your own dashboard or created a neat panel you'd like to show off, please share them in this discussion thread!

You can use any one of these (or all of them, if you'd like!)

  • Home Power Dashboard: Ideal for an overview of home power usage and supports solar panel integration. (Screenshot) (JSON Model)

  • Individual CT Data: This displays the power and power-factor for individual CTs. Ideal if you are measuring individual circuits. (Screenshot) (JSON Model)

To use these dashboards, there are some prerequisites covered below. If you've installed the custom OS image, these prerequisites are already completed for you (and the dashboards are already imported, too!). Once you've completed the prerequisites are complete, you can import any of the dashboards above.

Prerequisites

Validate that Grafana and InfluxDB are running. You should see Active: active (running) in each of the outputs from the following checks:

sudo systemctl status influxdb.service
sudo systemctl status grafana-server.service

Initial Grafana Setup

If you've installed the custom OS image, you don't need to do this!

  1. Open a web browser from another device on your LAN and navigate to your Raspberry Pi's IP address, port 3000. My Pi's IP is 192.168.10.116 so I will navigate to http://192.168.10.116:3000

  2. Enter Grafana's default credentials and login: Username: admin Password: admin. Follow the prompts to change the admin password.

  3. On the left hand side, click on the settings wheel (gear icon). Under the Data Sources tab, select Add Data Source. Find InfluxDB and select it.

  4. For the URL, enter http://127.0.0.1:8086

  5. Scroll down to InfluxDB Details. In the Database field, enter power_monitor. Username and password are currently not being enforced, so you can leave them blank.

  6. Click the Save & Test button. You should get a message that says Datasource is working. If you get an error that says database not found: power_monitor, you most likely haven't started the power monitor software yet. Simply start the program in either regular or terminal mode to initialize the database, then try this step again.

Importing Dashboards

1 . Login to Grafana, and navigate to the left hand side of the screen. Hover over the + sign and select Import. In the Import via panel json box, paste the entire text contents of one of the dashboard options from above.

  1. Click Load, then Import. You should now see the dashboard!
