What happened?

There is a bug with latest version 1.1.14.

It doesn't boot to Ventoy menu at all. It keeps black screen only. Ventoy do boot in legacy menu but not boot in uefi.

I tested Ventoy 1.1.12 and it works correctly in UEFI.

@ventoy kindly look into it. UEFI boot is broken.

I tested on two different system

1. DELL 3630 Workstation
2. DELL 3350 laptop

For your information Secureboot is OFF.

I tested both Partition style GPT and MBR. Same in both cases. Ventoy menu doesn't load in 1.1.14

1.1.12 works correctly. Problem is only in UEFI mode. Legacy works correctly.

I also tested on real hardware as well as QEMU boot tester tool. Both have UEFI mode broken 💔.

Same issue here. Version 1.1.12 works fine but 1.1.14 boots into blank screen and system becomes unresponsive. Tested on an ROG Strix G713IC secure boot off both GPT and MBR and with multiple usb sticks. I only get a blank screen when I choose to boot off of the ventoy usb stick. I have not tried Legacy as OP.

I had the exact same problem as you guys, and here is how I solved it since I don't use Secure Boot on my PC at all, I simply disabled Secure Boot during the Ventoy installation since then, version 1.1.14 boots normally, just like version 1.1.12. If you do use Secure Boot, you need to install the Ventoy key since it is new to allow Ventoy to boot with Secure Boot enabled. You can also easily remove the Ventoy key using this: https://github.com/ventoy/DeleteVentoySecureBootKey/releases

I set up the stick on my PC with Secure Boot disabled.
It won't boot on either my PC or my Steam Deck; my PC just shows the manufacturer's logo, and my Steam Deck just shows the Steam Deck logo.

Please read what I wrote above if you aren't using Secure Boot, disable it but then you also need to install Ventoy without Secure Boot enabled (whether on a USB stick or an external hard drive), otherwise Ventoy will ask for the key that you would otherwise have to install. I have described it in detail for you.

Aha, so you're saying I should disable Secure Boot—which is currently disabled—in order to install Ventoy?

Yes, exactly that was my point: if you aren't using Secure Boot on your PC and it's disabled, you have to select the "disable Secure Boot" option during the Ventoy installation. Otherwise, you'd have to enable Secure Boot and install the new key so Ventoy can boot, but then you'd also have to install that key on every device where you want to boot from it. But your point was that you want to boot without Secure Boot; to avoid the key check, you have to disable Secure Boot when installing Ventoy. It would only really benefit you if you actually use Secure Boot on your PC it simply means the signature is checked before every startup. You get that same effect when booting Windows with Secure Boot enabled, as it checks the signature to ensure a secure boot.

I’ve read up on this I had a problem earlier where my PC wouldn't boot and just got stuck at the startup screen. However, I tried it with Secure Boot enabled once I installed the certificate, Ventoy booted up fine. Did you install the certificate correctly? The other two people commenting probably don't have Secure Boot enabled, which is why I was talking about disabling it and so on. Anyway, I think I've covered everything needed to help you get it booting. To recap: if you're using Secure Boot, just install Ventoy with Secure Boot enabled if you disable it, then install Ventoy without Secure Boot. I didn't get a certificate error earlier either; it just hung at the startup screen it didn't show the GRUB bootloader but yeah, I hope you get what I mean. I can't really help you any further just by writing about it I think I've described the booting process well.

Did you disable Secure Boot when installing Ventoy? If not, download it again but make sure to backup your ISO files first. Then, uncheck the Secure Boot option in Ventoy, select just the language, and run the installation. Finally, copy your ISO files back onto the stick and try booting up this time with Secure Boot disabled.

Well, then you need to switch to version 1.1.12 the developers created a new CA or whatever. We were talking about running it without Secure Boot I don't know what else to say, since it worked for me. My PC doesn't freeze with version 1.1.14, nor does it ask me for a CA or anything else which makes sense, given that I have Secure Boot disabled. The latest releases work fine for me, even with the new CA if I want. You'll have to find the error yourself sorry. good luck
