I spent time writing this and I would love to get help further developing and maintaining the library, however I do not think vlib should have a redis connector.
Redis is relatively young, and it has already split in 3 separate projects. Before splitting up there already were forks like Snapchat KeyDB which I used extensively.
Being so young, there also is still a chance that something better will come up and take its place.
Redis is introducing more features that are not supported neither by Redict nor Valkey, we don't know if Redis will switch to RESP4 protocol some Redis devs were working on already in late 2023.
We're not looking at something as stable as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
I think userland is the most fitting place for a RESP client.

I agree.

Well, valkey perhaps, with the changes/monetization of redis.

Do you mean a connection wrapper for it, or?
Jengro777 commentedon Mar 30, 2025
Yes, same as connecting mysql

Perhaps we can make a tripartite library like this for users to use! Redis is widely used.

We can have
vlang/redis, aka an official library which can be installed.Jengro777 commentedon Apr 8, 2025
Yes, you can do that.
