This week's published patents
Nvidia's 21 newest filings sort into three clusters:
- Autonomous vehicle stack. Eight filings cover self-driving systems end to end, from a three-layer camera that reads depth and objects, to recognizing manhole covers as non-threats, to a selective restart system and a way to keep safety-critical features running when others fail.
- AI efficiency and training. Filings address the cost of running and building models, including a number-rounding shortcut for chip power, models that shrink and grow to match available hardware, faster training by sharing the workload, and skipping blank pixels in image processing.
- Applications and infrastructure. Nvidia also filed on an AI that turns a script into a storyboard, a code writer that catches its own mistakes, a local network hub that routes AI tasks to the right device, and a way to reach servers that can't be contacted directly.
