The Art of Manufacturing

How a Banarasi saree comes to life — through the hands of the weavers of Mubarakpur (Reshmi Nagri).
  1. Choosing the yarn

Every saree begins with yarn, chosen for lustre, strength and evenness to suit the design.

  2. Preparing the yarn

Skeins are treated in hot water and prepared so the yarn takes colour evenly and runs smoothly on the loom.

  3. Dyeing

Yarn is dyed in vats to build the rich magentas, wines, golds and greens seen across the collection.

  4. Weaving

On the looms of Mubarakpur (Reshmi Nagri), skilled weavers turn warp and weft into fabric, line by line.

  5. Pattern & detailing

Zari and coloured threads are worked into the weave to form borders, butis and pallu motifs.

  6. Finishing

Each woven saree is taken off the loom, trimmed and prepared for presentation.

  7. Representative image

    Quality inspection

Sarees are checked for weave, pattern, colour and finish before they are folded.

  8. Packing & dispatch

Finished sarees are folded and packed with care so the zari and fabric arrive as they left the loom.

A guide to evaluating a Banarasi saree

These checks describe what buyers can look for. They are a recommended inspection guide; Silk Nagri will confirm which form part of its own process.

  • Fabric appearance & consistency

The body of the saree is examined for an even surface, consistent texture and clean edges.

  • Weave & pattern inspection

Borders, butis and pallu motifs are checked for continuity, alignment and loose or missing threads.

  • Colour consistency

Colourways are compared against the approved shade so every saree matches the design you chose.

  • Finishing & presentation

Edges, pleating and fold are checked so the saree drapes well and arrives ready to display.

  • Packing checks

Each saree is folded and packed to protect the zari and fabric in transit.
