Confirmed

[change source]

Could you please grant the confirmed user right to my alt account @ExplorerofUniverse. ExplorerofSpace (talk) 01:42, 3 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

I'm not comfortable with granting rights to an alternate account of someone who is blocked on another wiki for abusing multiple accounts. CountryANDWestern (talk) 14:13, 8 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ok, thanks for providing a reason. ExplorerofSpace (talk) 20:31, 8 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

This user, who you have been dealing with already, has history on the main site of being banned for sock evasion, and is currently banned there for that. They were previously banned for personal attacks and being generally hostile. I feel it would be the right move to make sure you know the person you are talking to is very persistent and should be handled with care. Phlogiston Enthusiast (talk) 18:40, 14 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thanks... I had poked around their En. talk page/edit history the other day so will continue to keep an eye on things. CountryANDWestern (talk) 18:57, 14 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

A look

[change source]

Since you're a staff member here, is it ok if you take a look at this question I had? It's basically me asking about which Wikimedia project can cover for in-depth information that may get redirected or removed from Simple English Wikipedia, and even my question if there can be a looser notability policy since the demographic would benefit from simpler articles on a larger variety of topics. 2005-Fan (talk) 16:13, 16 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Lock the Wikipedia article

[change source]

As I see that you're an administrator here right, can you please lock the Wikipedia Article of Bongbong Marcos for a temporary/Short Period of Time? ~2026-23654-16 (talk) 13:19, 17 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

I don't believe that is necessary at this time. Only two socks have edited recently; we can handle the current flow. CountryANDWestern (talk) 21:32, 17 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Virtual Boy

Hi, this isn't a notability concern. I just wonder if the edits I did to the Virtual Boy article are in-line with this wiki's style. There's a handful of sources that I've added, including for the release dates. 2005-Fan (talk) 00:24, 18 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

ipblock-exempt

[change source]

Hello @CountryANDWestern, Currently, I am using a VPN when connected to public Wi-Fi because auth.wikimedia.org is blocked in my country, Indonesia (here is the proof). I understand that the IP addresses used by this VPN service are globally blocked, which prevents me from editing, especially on Simplewiki Wikipedia where I help create templates. I already have IP block exemption rights on my main account in Indonesian Wikipedia, but I do not have this permission yet on Simple English Wikipedia. Therefore, I would like to request this flag so I can continue editing. Your consideration would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. 🏹Nathan Veritas 12:28, 20 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

This isn't something I'm personally comfortable with enabling. I suggest bringing it to the admin noticeboard and see if others can review. CountryANDWestern (talk) 12:19, 21 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

[change source]

You are literally following my every edit so you can add a tag that’s not needed to them can you please go onto the Suzume And LiSA articles and remove your tag since you are not contributing anything to them or fixing the problem Ieditsandyes (talk) 14:12, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

I have also told you multiple times that you can edit the articles to make them good in. Your standard and I’m fine with that but you still say the Suzume plot is too long even though I said I have done all I can to shorten it Ieditsandyes (talk) 14:16, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I am not obligated to fix your poor grammar on the articles you make. The copy edit tag alerts others to the concerns and adds it to a maintenance category. If you don’t want the tags on the articles, then make articles that don’t require them. On Wikipedia, competence is required. If all of the articles you make and all of your contributions are going to be filled with the poor grammar and spelling that you are displaying, it is possible your ability to change Wikipedia may be restricted. CountryANDWestern (talk) 16:22, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Please also look at our WP:ONESTRIKE policy. Users who are blocked on another wiki can receive a block here, especially if they are displaying the same behavior. Your actions so far show that you are committing the same issues here. CountryANDWestern (talk) 16:29, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
How about you leave me alone Ieditsandyes (talk) 14:42, 26 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Follow up

[change source]

The topic is now removed from VIP, but I realize I wasn't clear. I meant that I didn't want to reveal the IP address to myself using the TAIV tool if I didn't have to, since the tool already listed the linked accounts. I certainly would not reveal them publicly. I used the ambiguous "range block" as a way to say "use discretion", but I can start looking at and suggesting ranges if you think that would be helpful for those patrolling VIP. Thanks, Garsh (talk) 04:41, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Understood. When you suggested a range needed to be blocked, I assumed you had looked at the IPs and determined that it was happening within a range, not just a single IP. It's up to you whether you want to be looking into the IPs and the ranges and mentioning the ranges vaguely in VIP reports... I would just suggest not saying a range needs to be blocked unless you know for sure it's a range. CountryANDWestern (talk) 13:18, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Two accounts of globally blocked Jaredryandloneria are currently active and pending global lock (it's been there for two days). One of them, Nemine2X2X2, is currently editing here at Simple & causing disruption.

blocks and their reach query

[change source]

I noticed an editor getting a temp block and then a full indefinite block for using an ip to get around the first block. Is that only for this simple wikipedia? Does none of it apply to the main English wikipedia? It seems like they would be globally linked but I'm guessing blocks don't work that way. Thanks. Fyunck(click) (talk) 21:55, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

note - it looks like I just found it under the reciprocal rules here: "In some cases, users who have been blocked indefinitely or banned on other Wikimedia Foundation projects move to Simple English Wikipedia. While most of these users will be integrated without problems, some are known as troublemakers. Administrators have the option to block such users. This is decided on a case-by-case basis. In most cases, a user who broke the rules on another project is not blocked unless they also break the rules on the Simple English Wikipedia. They can be blocked if they break the rules here even once, and do not need the same amount of warning as a new user. This is often called the "one-strike" rule. It is made to stop disruptive users, who have a history of making bad changes, from disrupting this project."

I'm guessing it also works the other way around... sort of a one-strike-rule now at the main Wikipedia. Sorry to bother you today. Fyunck(click) (talk) 22:03, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Yes we have a “ONESTRIKE” policy here; it’s mostly in place because we’ve frequently been a place that users come after they’ve been blocked or banned at the English Wikipedia and we don’t want to tolerate the same behavior here. I don’t believe there is a similar policy on the English Wikipedia. However, if a user is blocked across a few wikis or if they’ve been banned or long-term abusing a wiki, they can be locked globally as well. CountryANDWestern (talk) 22:43, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

That's an obituary published by the publication of an organization he was a member of; it doesn't guarantee notability. Is there anything else that proves he's notable? CountryANDWestern (talk) 11:47, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
a legacy for him, another article about him, also he has notable works like governments of the world ( ) He has notability enough to get an article for himself. Birthay boy (talk) 11:55, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
The first is his obituary on a site where funeral homes post obituaries; the second is the same as the obituary you mentioned above just listed in a different journal database; the other links are just his publications. These do not establish notability. You are welcome to recreate the article if you feel he is truly notable, but based on what I see, it'll not survive a deletion discussion. CountryANDWestern (talk) 12:14, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi About Soran-Persian War (1829-1834)

[change source]

Hi if you watch Before the war it's say Soran forces raided Kurdish areas on the Iranian side of the border. Sources mention parts of Mukriyan, including Lajan, Sauj Bulag, and Sardasht, as well as villages near Salmas and Urmia, as areas that were raided by Soran forces Later campaigns (1831–1833) change Qajar forces tried to push the Soran troops back from the areas they had taken. There were several fights between Soran and Iranian soldiers in the mountains along the border. So the result should be better:Soran forces raided Kurdish areas Qajar offensives repulsed ~2026-41673-40 (talk) 07:39, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
