Spring Week 1’s best preps performances from Boulder, Longmont & Broomfield
Each week of the spring season, BoCoPreps will highlight exceptional performances from 10 teams and 10 athletes. For Week 1, we will use results from the opening three weeks of the spring season.

Teams
Erie baseball: The Tigers won all four games at the Coach Bob Invitational in Arizona, improving to 7-0 on the season. Boston Coslett drove in eight runs in the tournament, including a go-ahead three-run home run against Vestavia Hills (Alabama). Evan Dillinger leads the Granite Peaks League with 12 RBIs this season, while Coslett has 11. Senior pitcher Maddox Burnett is 2-0 with a 1.62 ERA. He has 24 strikeouts and five walks.
Erie boys lacrosse: Junior attack Jacob Adams has 13 goals and nine assists, leading Erie to a 3-0 start this season.
Fairview boys swimming: Freshman Luke Axisa won the 500-yard freestyle at the Dick Rush Coaches Invite, posting the state’s fastest time of the season (4:35.38). Sophomore Anders Koschmann won the 200 IM and 100 freestyle at the Lightning Invite earlier this month. His time of 1:58.38 in the 200 IM is currently fifth-best in the state this season.
Holy Family girls golf: The defending 3A champs opened the spring with a 38-shot win at the first Granite Peaks League tournament of the season at Broadlands Golf Course. Peyton Mraz won with a score of 4-over-par 76, followed by Acadia Curtis (77) in second and Danikka Nielsen (80) in third.
Legacy girls soccer: Siena Kidd’s first-half goal held up in a 1-0 win over Chatfield last Tuesday, moving the Lightning to 6-0 this season. Freshman Jacy Hibbeler is tied for third in the 5A classification with seven goals this season.
Longmont baseball: The Trojans entered the week 5-0 after beating Coastal Academy (California) and Green Mountain last week. Robbie Sekich went 5 for 8 with a home run and four RBIs over the two games. On the season, he’s hitting .556.
Monarch boys swimming: Senior Tobin Howe won the 100-yard breaststroke at the Legacy Invite with the state’s fastest time of the season (54.87). He also has the third-fastest time in the 200-yard individual medley (1:54.98). Junior Isaac Skillern is fourth in the 100 butterfly (50.86).
Niwot girls soccer: The Cougars are 2-0, having outscored their first two opponents a combined 9-0 this season. Senior Heather Humphrey leads the team with two goals.
Niwot track and field: The Cougars finished third in boys and sixth in girls at the 32-team Broomfield Shootout over the weekend. They currently hold the fastest time this season in the boys’ 4×800 (7:48.96).
Prospect Ridge Academy baseball: The Miners (2-0) opened their season last week, beating Brush and Weld Central. Sean Graham is 4 for 5 this season with two doubles. Avery Stark is 4 for 7 with two RBIs.
Athletes
Cooper Campbell, Peak to Peak baseball: The junior right-handed pitcher tossed five hitless innings and struck out 10 in a 1-0 season-opening win over Frederick.
Nathen Canfield, Silver Creek baseball: The senior is 4 for 8 to start the season, with two doubles, a triple and a home run. He’s driven in 10 runs.
Morgan Elson, Mead girls lacrosse: The senior had six goals and three assists as the Mavericks beat Pueblo West 20-3 in their season opener.
Kaden Hopkin, Holy Family baseball: The sophomore is 2-0 this season, having struck out 23 of the first 41 batters he has faced.
Artie Hoverstock, Boulder boys lacrosse: Through his first three games inside Colorado, the senior had 13 goals and an assist.
Tobin Howe, Monarch boys swimming: The senior currently has the third-fastest time this season in the 200-yard individual medley (1:54.98).
Kylissa Kirk, Longmont girls soccer: The junior has seven goals and two assists, leading the Trojans to a 3-0 start.
Ethan Rathke, Peak to Peak boys track and field: The senior pole vaulter cleared 16 feet and 8 inches at the Broomfield Shootout over the weekend, the best mark in the state this season.
Malia Scott, Silver Creek girls soccer: The junior had four goals and two assists through her first two games of the season.
Hayden Wilson, Monarch boys lacrosse: The junior has 13 goals and five assists through four games. Last year, he finished with 19 goals and four assists.
