Magic Moments

Because this sweet little face melts my heart everyday. Even his brothers can't get enough of him. God, thank you for this little boy we never knew we wanted so, so much! Cade is learning he has hands! This, of course, is so fun to watch! I'll catch him realzing his hand belongs to him as he swings it in front of his face. He'll stop at just look at his own hand and it makes me laugh even though this is the third little boy I've watched realize he can control his hands. :) Cade is beginning to grab toys and that's been fun for him. And believe it or not (even though it's way too soon to tell) I just might have my first right handed boy!

During school this morning.... Mama: Sage do you think there is a better solution to cleaning your hands rather than wiping glue on the furniture? Sage: Um.....I don't know. Homeschooling at it's  finest. To his defense,  at least he finished his assignment.

Nothing new since Christmas has been going on except that Tom finally caught some smiles of the camera shy baby. I hope Cade keeps it up so that I can take actual pictures on my camera and because Cade  is getting his pictures taken Thursday and I must have some of his smiles...they are my favorite. I tried taking pictures of all 3 of them before church. It went about as well as I expected it would. The boys are pretty jazzed about a snow storm in the forecast.  I'm kind of excited too since it's the first one of the season. They'll finally have a decent amount of snow to play in. Yesterday they told me they used up all the snow in the backyard. Anyway,  we've started back to school and teaching kids distraced by Christmas toys and now a snow storm is no easy task. I have my work cut out for me.

Even though we were only at the cabin for a very short 2 days and the time went really fast, Christmas was lovely. It was the first time my family has been together for Christmas since 2011 so that was pretty special and long overdue. The fact that our family all lives within driving distance of the cabin almost seems like a Christmas miracle! We ate lots of food, read the Christmas story, stayed up too late, exchanged gifts, waited for Santa to arrive, played pool, put legos together and mostly just enjoyed being together. Sadly the lake wasn't frozen and there was no snow on the ground so we're all looking forward to a trip to the cabin in January to enjoy winter. This little baby is the cutest. I can't get enough of him! And he's a chub...he's already moving into 6-9 month clothes. He's my biggest baby for sure. I'm blogging on my new tablet. It's the one thing I told Tom not to buy, but of course he did and said something sweet about buying me anything I wanted. I'm not sure I want it and I'm  still not sure I'll keep it, but right now when the Internet on the desktop won't work this thing is pretty nice. Last night Tom and I threw caution to the wind and let the boys watch Home Alone. Some might say our kids are sheltered, I think they are growing up how kids should grow up. I'm still not sure if it was a totally responsible decision, but it was fun and I think the boys are mature enough and understand right from wrong so they could handle it. Anyway, Tom and I didn't remember all the sass and disrespect and almost turned it off, but we didn't and of course our boys were belly laughing during the scenes Home Alone is famous for. Overall the night was super fun and I don't think the boys are worse off for seeing the movie. However, I'm waiting for...

I was lamenting to Tom a few days ago about the wrong doing in the world. And lamenting is probably too soft of a term. I was carrying on and in a complete state of upset. I'm glad I know God wins in the end because it seems as if the devil is doing an excellent job of carrying out his goal to bring chaos and confusion into our world. What's right is wrong and what's wrong is right. Freedom only applies if you're politically correct and safety seems to be found no where. I told Tom I was ready to move, to live off the grid, perhaps move to the Yukon and become an Eskimo. Or live anywhere really where the internet and media don't exist and my days won't be flooded with news of tragedy brought upon others by evil. I told Tom I was so completely sad to think of the world our boys are growing up in and that even if we are given enough freedom in our lifetime to raise our children, what about our grandkids? Among the busy days we're still finding little bits of time to focus on advent. With a new baby I haven't been on top of my game this year so it kind of feels like Christmas has run me over, so keeping up with holiday demands feels like it has taken away some of our focus, but we're trying our best. I figure that Jesus will understand that this year we didn't celebrate His birthday quite as well since we welcomed a new baby into our own family...a gift from him no less. Anyway, we read  our favorite Christmas story and had treats to match. We atteneded The Nutcracker Ballet and everyday we've been doing our Jesse Tree, learning about the lineage and prophecy of Jesus. The Jesse Tree is a tradition that I love. Aiden undertands it fairly well and Sage is learning. But Grandmommy and Auntie Carol have both reminded me that we give children hard truths they can grow into. We're certainly doing that. How can it be that my baby is 3 months? While I am glad that the teeny, tiny newborn stage is over, at 3 months Cade is the best little baby ever and I want to freeze time. He is so, so happy and smiley! Cade is very attentive and if you aren't talking to him he'll get your attention. One day Aiden was purposely ignoring Cade and Cade was screeching every time Aiden looked away and stopped talking. Even though Aiden and Sage were super smiley babies they also went through periods of extreme fussiness so Cade is my happiest baby by far. He could stand to sleep a little better at night as I'm still up every 2 to 3 hours, but his sweet disposition makes up for the lack of sleep. Today he laughed for the first time and it was so fun to have all the family home to hear it. Cade is certainly loved and it would be okay with me if he just stopped growing right now. On Saturday night we had planned on attending a live nativity. It's something I try to do each year. But when Tom called me at 5 o'clock on his way home I was still in my jammies, I had not started dinner, and I was tired. Tom decided that since Sage was still recovering from a cold that we should probably just stay home. And that was fine by me. We made breakfast for dinner and watched our favorite Christmas movie: Mickey's Christmas Carol. The nativity still runs next weekend so maybe we can go then if we are feeling up to it. Since Tucker visited for the week I took a couple pictures during the few times he was sweet and clam. He has such a wonderful life with Grandmommy and Grandpa and even though he loves the kids, I KNOW he missed Grandmommy and Grandpa greatly. In fact, when it was time for him to go home he drug his bed downstairs and grabbed his favorite toy and put it by the door. That dog was beyond excited to see Grandmommy and Grandpa .
