Recently I was contacted and asked if I'd like to review this new shampoo and conditioner combo from Free From Frizz. I've never heard of the brand before but its products claim to fight frizz with a new patent pending system. To be honest I don't have particularly frizzy hair, it's much more fine/flyaway but I was told the new watermelon range might work for me as its targeted at fine hair, so I thought I'd give it a try.

The range is now available from Boots and each bottle pictured above is worth £5.99, which is probably you're general price for a shampoo or conditioner these days, but it still seems a bit expensive to me personally. I just absolutely love the milkshake/fruit juice look and packaging of these. I also have the kit, which comes in milk carton shape packaging and is so so cute!

As I mentioned and as you can probably see from the pictures, this is watermelon scented and just smells amazing!! I can't get enough of the scent and it's one of those where you just want to use it ALL the time. The conditioner is lovely and thick, almost like a milkshake, and it smells even more divine and stronger than the shampoo.

I've been using these for a little while and have found that after use my hair feels extremely soft and smooth. So much so that I just touch it and run my fingers through it all day long. Most de-frizzing treatments tend to weigh the hair down but Free From Frizz uses a formula called 'Floraceuticals', which works to soften the hair, smooth out the frizz and leave it shiny and manageable. I have to say it really does a good job and I'm very impressed.

I would like to see how girls with very frizzy hair have found the treatments as I'd like to know how powerful the system is. As I mentioned my hair is quite flyaway and this does seem to help and keep my hair soft and smooth but it may benefit someone with much more frizzy hair.

I would really recommend giving this a go even if you're just looking for a super scented hair product that will leave your hair smelling gorgeous all day long as well as feeling super soft and healthy.

Recently I've been trying to take better care of my hair. I know you're not supposed to but I wash it every week day before work and dry it with a hair dryer so obviously that will be doing some damage. I was regularly going to the hairdressers every six weeks or so but it's become so expensive and I was finding my hair didn't look much different afterwards. I thought to myself that I'd rather pay money for some treatments for it to see if they might help.

I've used Toni & Guy's HairMeetWardrobe products before and I really liked them so I decided to try out a few other bits from their various ranges. I picked up the Advanced Detox shampoo in the hope it would help my hair a little. I'm really glad I purchased it as it makes my hair feel so, so soft for the rest of the day after use. I actually couldn't believe how soft it felt.

It really gets in there and cleans your hair, getting rid of product build up and residue and I could really feel the cleanliness after use. Unlike a lot of hair treatments you do have to leave it in and spend ages standing around in the shower or dripping wet het all over the place, you simply use it as a normal shampoo. I followed it up with a normal shampoo afterwards and am just so happy with the results.

The bottle says 'for occasional use' so I've been using it once a week as a bit of a treat for the hair. Sometimes I even follow it up with a conditioning treatment for the ends too. For £6 it's pretty reasonable as it's a good size and will last absolutely ages.

Don't you just love it when a magazine has a decent freebie? Although, technically it's not a freebies as the magazine costs around £4 but it is a HUGE bargain.

Usually Bumble and Bumble products are pretty expensive, around £21 for 250ml of the thickening hairspray, so for £4 this is really great and it's a pretty decent size too. In the past I've not found Bumble and Bumble products to be particularly good for my hair but I thought I would give this a try anyway as you never know...

Well, I'm really glad I did because I LOVE it. Absolutely nothing I've used in the past has made my hair feel thick. I have annoying flyaway, thin hair and I can never really do anything with it, it can barely hold a grip in it but when I used this hairspray it felt really full and thicker than normal. It didn't feel straw like or sticky either, no matter how much product I put on.

I think I'm probably going to get through the spray pretty quickly as I've been using more and more each day. The only downside to it is that it smells weird, like a dentists room, which is not nice but I can definitely ignore that in favour of lovely, thick hair!

I would definitely recommend picking up Elle magazine, which this is on the front of, even if you don't read the magazine it's SO worth spending £4 on just for the freebie attached.

I have to say I'm a little disappointed. I don't like writing negative reviews but I want to be truthful so here goes...

I didn't necessarily need a new hairspray or mousse but I saw these being raved about on various blogs and I was keen to see what they were like and what the scents were like.

For around the £2.70 mark these are pretty cheap and cheerful products so I wasn't really expecting great things anyway but as Vince regularly uses a Fudge product I thought maybe, just maybe they'd be ok. Unfortunately the scent is very faint in my opinion. I've heard some bloggers rave about the scent and how it's practically a perfume for your hair but I found it was barely there and the horrible hairspray smell really masked it. There was a small hint of raspberry but it doesn't linger for very long.

The hairspray doesn't really hold very well and it feels a tiny bit sticky after application too. That's a big no no in my book. There is a tiny bit of volume in my hair but it drops out pretty quickly. The same goes for the mousse really as I didn't really notice any difference in my hair after using it. Luckily neither product leaves my hair feeling straw like, which is a bonus, but the hairspray was easy to brush out.

These might work well for other people, but for me they've not been great! I really wanted to like these and I envisioned my hair smelling of raspberries all day long but they just don't live up to the hype!

My favourite hair volumising products

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with my hair. It's very fine, very straight and very boring. I rely heavily on hair volumising product and I have also formed a love/hate relationship with these as well.

I hate products that leave my hair feeling sticky or straw like but this selection seems to currently be working for me. I really like the new range of John Frieda Luxurious Volume products and I use the shampoo probably every other day, just so my hair doesn't get used to it and immune to it's volumising magic. The most common combination of products I use is the volumising shampoo, along with a few sprays of Root Booster and a dollop of the Toni & Guy Hair Whip.

I also really rate the Hair Meet Wardrobe range from Toni & Guy and I've been sniffing around the other products available in the range while I've been in Boots. I'm quite interested to try the hair gum.

The Bed Hed by TiGi Sugar Dust is pretty old now. I was sent it way back in October 2011 and I'm still using it now. I love sprinkling it over my roots and it giving them a nice boost. I also have the merengue mousse, which I definitely need to start using again. It's been a bit unloved recently!

Toni & Guy recently ran a promotion on their Facebook page where you inputted your details in order to receive a free sample of their new Creative range. I put my details in as I fancied the Extreme Hold Hairspray and I was really only expecting to receive a teeny tiny product through the post but I actually received a full-sized 250ml product.

I also put Vince's details in and got him a hair gel, which was also full-sized. I was thrilled to receive a full-sized product as I've wanted to get myself a new hairspray for ages. I've tried a few bits and bobs from the new Creative range and I've really enjoyed them so was looking forward to trying out something else too.

The hairspray retails for £6.39, which for Toni & Guy, isn't too pricey. I'm sure I've mentioned this before but I always seem to have a problem with hair products leaving my hair feeling sticky or straw like but this hairspray was lovely and soft and left my hair feeling like it hadn't had anything sprayed onto it at all. It had quite a good hold, but I wouldn't call it an 'extreme hold' as it's labelled. It held for a good few hours but as it's so soft you probably need lots and lots of products to really hold your style in place for the entire day.

I really enjoyed this hairspray mainly because my hair still felt lightweight after use and that's always a big plus for me. I would definitely recommend it to others that have fine, flyaway hair.

John Frieda Luxurious Volume

I didn't want to pay almost £6 for hair products/shampoo that I wasn't sure would work. I've tried John Frieda shampoos in the past and they've been pretty good but I'm always wary of volume products as I've had so many that haven't really made much of a difference to my hair.

I spotted these mini versions next to the full-size ones and these were much more reasonable at £1.99 each. Most people only use minis for taking away travelling but if you aren't sure about a product and want to trial it first then they're perfect! These will last a good amount of time as well.

I was really impressed with both of these products. The shampoo leaves a nice bit of volume in my hair and the Blow Dry lotion gives a nice extra bit of bounce. You simply spray it onto the roots of towel dried hair and carry on with your blow dry as normal. I used quite a bit of the product on my roots and usually this leaves my hair feeling sticky or straw like but this particular root booster left it feeling extremely normal and soft.

I really liked the finished result as there was a lot more volume than normal, which I love! I wouldn't use the shampoo on a daily basis as my hair tends to get used to products and they stop having any effect so I will probably use this every weekend or so for a voluminous look. I would certainly recommend trying these out and now that I have I would spend almost £6 on the full-size versions.

GHD Final Shine Spray

I was recently sent this shine spray from GHD's professional hair care products range. I've seen a few of the products reviewed on various blogs and I was really interested to try something out. It's been so long since I've used my GHDs that I couldn't even tell you where they are now, but this has made me want to dig them out and try some new styles.

First of all I love the black and blue packaging. I wasn't able to photograph the box as it arrived to me all ripped. The envelope was open and ripped as well so I wasn't very happy with the postman, but the product seems fine. I washed my hair as usual and put a bit of salt spray in the roots for some volume. Then I used the shine spray to help control my flyaway hair and of course...add some shine.

The can is a generous size for the price and I like the aerosol style of it. It's to be used on dry hair, which is something that always worries me. In the past I've used products that have completely messed up my finished style, so much so that I've had to rewash and start all over again so I was really hoping that wouldn't happy this time around.

Luckily the spray was really light and my hair was left feeling lovely and soft. It definitely controlled the flyaway hair but I personally couldn't see additional shine. It's a nice product and I would definitely repurchase as my hair felt nice and soft for the rest of the day. I'd be interested to try some more products from the range as well!

I recently picked this up in the Boots sale for half price! I didn't exactly need any more hair products but I loved the tin packaging and thought it was really cute. Always a good reason to buy new things, if you ask me!

The giftset includes a Cleanse Shampoo for Dry Hair, Cleanse Conditioner for Dry Hair, Casual Sea Salt Texturising Spray and two pearl spin pins.

I have quite dry, damaged hair with split ends. It's quite flyaway and I can't really do much with it but I found the shampoo and conditioner helped it look a lot smoother and sleeker and it made it lovely and soft and fluffy. My sister commented and said she thought it didn't show the split ends as much as normal, which I'll take as a compliment.

Salt spray doesn't really do much for my hair but I think the shampoo and conditioner are definitely worth paying for this giftset. It's a great way to trial Toni & Guy products before splashing out on the full-size products. It's also a great idea to pick it up now while it's half price and put it aside for a gift for someone next year.

I think I'm a bit late to the party with this product but I was desperate to try it out so I bought it regardless.

I actually got it from Buyapowa for about £12.50 which I think is pretty reasonable.

I've used lots of salt/sea sprays before in the past and I haven't had much luck with them so I was hoping this would turn out to be the product for me. I really love the black texture of the bottle and design but I found that the product didn't really give me that volume or texture that I want.

Most surf sprays have left my hair feeling straw like and sticky and while this didn't do that it still didn't really give it any boost. I'm not sure if this is because my hair is quite long and heavy.

I was a bit disappointed that it didn't really do it's job. I've read very mixed reviews about this product though so I was half expecting it not to really help. Such a shame!

I received the Osmo Berber Oil in last months Glossybox and I quickly cast it to one side.

I was told once before that hair oils would make my hair exceptionally greasy but for some reason I decided to go ahead and try the Berber Oil on a whim.

My hair was feeling particularly lank and boring and I just wanted to give it a little treat to try and perk it up a bit!

Admittedly, I only have a small sample size of the product but it's more than enough for a few uses. It claims to replenish and nourish hair with its unique blend of oils and Argan oil.

It also claims to include UV filters for protection against the sun and heat as well as Vitamin E. I wouldn't be able to tell you whether it really protects against the sun and the heat or not because I haven't really seen much evidence of this, but what I can tell you is that it left my hair feeling gorgeous!

The oil is gloopy and thick and I literally whacked loads of it on! It also smells delicious and my hair felt lovely and glossy and full after use.

It can be used on dry or wet hair which is really handy. I don't really think it left my hair greasy at all, just well nourished and soft, soft, soft.

I think I would certainly consider buying the full version of this once I've used up the sample. I'd definitely recommend it and it's changed my perception of hair oils completely.

John Frieda has launched a brand new John Frieda Full Repair range, designed to treat damaged and overworked hair. Aka, mine.

I had already been using the Shampoo and Conditioner and I absolutely love them. I was previously using Aussie products but I was finding my hair more and more difficult to brush after every wash, even with a tangle teezer, so when I received the Full Repair products I immediately started using them and found brushing much easier!

The products leave hair feeling lovely and soft and like you've just come out of the hairdressers. The Root Lift Foam is not like usual mousses that leave your hair a bit hard and straw like, so I really prefer this product! I'm yet to use the repair mask but if the rest of the products are anything to go by, I'll be using it on a very regular basis.

When I saw the prices of the products I thought they were a bit steep. Almost £6 for a shampoo...but after using them I think the price is really worth it. I'd definitely recommend!

Fudge Rocker Wax

Recently, a call was put out on Twitter for bloggers who's boyfriends/friends might be interested in reviewing the new Urban Fudge Rocker Wax, which will soon be available at Superdrug for £5.99.

I responded quickly as I know Vince swears by the current Fudge Matte Head that he uses, so I thought he might be interested in trying something new! When I received the Rocker Wax, it immediately reminded me of the Surfer Wax that I have bought Vince before, so I was interested to hear his thoughts.

Vince tried out the wax and gave me a few points that he wanted me to include in the review. Unfortunately he wasn't pleased at all with the product! Instead of a wax, it's actually more like a putty (it actually reminds me of PVA Glue) and so is a lot wetter than he was expecting. It also doesn't smell very nice at all.

The wax is advertised to 'rockers' or those with a longer style hair cut who want to keep it well styled. Vince likes his hair to be a bit scruffy/spikey but he really couldn't get on with this product at all. This wax doesn't hold the hair in any sort of style for very long as it's too wet and heavy. It's probably only suitable for people with shorter hair who want a bit of texture.

It was also really obvious that there was product in his hair as it left lots of little white bits. Not nice.

Vince was keen that I recommend the Surfer Wax and in particular, the Fudge Matte Head as both of these products are drier and make your style look much more natural.

It's a shame that he didn't really rate this product but he's very particular about his hair products. The wax has also been recommended to us girls but after Vince's review I'm not sure I even want to try it. I don't think it would be any good for my long hair.

Bed Head by TIGI Candy Fixations

When I received an email asking if I'd like to try the new Bed Head by TIGI Candy Fixations range, I jumped at the chance! I thought the packaging alone looked gorgeous and fun and when I saw the volume products, I knew I had to try them out. The Candy Fixations range claims to deliver volume 'lighter than candyfloss with flexible hold and no residue,' and I can safely say that they more than deliver!

Since I had my hair cut in August, I've been using the Fudge Pump Up Mousse for some much needed volume and bounce to my hair, but I'm afraid I now have a new favourite in the form of the Totally Baked Volumizing and Prepping Hair Meringue.

Not only is this mousse lovely and light, it gives my hair some much needed volume, but the best bit is the smell. It smells AMAZING. I'm being completely honest when I say this smells EXACTLY like Lemon Meringue and it's gorgeous! My mum and I were sat on the sofa sniffing it for ages! The scent stays in your hair as well so you get nice whiffs of it through-out the day. It's best applied to damp hair like any normal mousse, but if you blow-dry it afterwards, you get a lovely cooked meringue smell, which again, is gorgeous!

I also received the Sugar Dust Invisible Micro-Texture Root Powder which is just so cute! I've never used a powder for volume before and this is just lovely! I applied it to my hair when it was wet and again when it was dry and it didn't leave my hair with a white tinge to it (thank goodness), and it left it lovely and volumised, just how I like it. The dust is so fine it looks like it's snowing when you sprinkle it on and again, it smells utterly gorgeous!

My roots feel a tiny bit dry and stiff but that's something I can easily put up with. My hair has got a bit longer and heavier now so it's difficult for it to retain the volume but I've had the products in for a few hours and it's holding nicely. I'm still getting lovely lemon meringue scent as well.




So, all in all, I am more than happy with these products and I've been using them daily ever since! I've taken a few snaps of my hair straight after using the products, but please forgive my terrible split ends!

Tangle Teezer

I've been so occupied with the 30 Day Blog Challenge that I haven't been able to post about the products that I've recently purchased. You may or may not have noticed that the 30 Day Blog Challenge is no more...to be honest, I got bored with it. I didn't think people were very interested in it either so I've simply gone back to blogging about whatever I want.

Today I'm going to show you one of my new lovely new products. The Tangle Teezer brush! I ordered this because I spend about 10 minutes every morning brushing my hair and trying to de-tangle it. Not only does it hurt but I also manage to pull out quite a bit of hair and it's just bloody annoying if anything. When I heard that the Tangle Teezer is the solution to knotty and tangled hair, I just had to try it.


I decided on a Purple Glittery brush instead of boring black and it was only £10.20, which I think is quite reasonable for a product like this. The brush itself looks very plastic-y and jelly like and has sharp plastic bristles but it's kind of cute and I love the glitter of course! Tangle Teezer claims that their brushes are designed to de-tangle and help smooth the hair's cuticle, in turn protecting the inner cortex from damage. They also say that using the brush will make your hair appear more lustrous by minimising cuticle damage which in turn will help colour last and reduce the risk of fading. The hair shaft is also better prepared for the onslaught of damaging heat from styling tools. That’s why we like to call it first aid for hair.

This morning, after a very quick shower, I towel dryed my hair as normal and prepared for battle. Instead of my brush coming to an abrupt hault at the first knot, it moved through my hair pretty effortlessly. The brush itself is very bulky and you really need to stretch your hand out to be able to hold it, but it's not uncomfortable at all.

When holding the handle of a brush, you have a lot of power over it and can pull it as hard as you like, wrenching at the hair and damaging it. With the Tangle Teezer there is no handle, therefore you have less power over the brush and have to let it glide through your hair instead of tugging it through.

I have to say I was pretty impressed with this. There was no pain and not tangles and my hair has remained quite smooth for most of the day. As well as the Tangle Teezer, the company also sells a couple of different tangle brushes including one that comes in a funky flower pot shape and another that is a tangle teezer and compact styler.

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone. It doesn't matter whether your hair is long or short, it's definitely worth the investment and pain free hair brushing!
