While other girls buy sensible winter coats in beautiful pastel shades or waterproof macs, I go for a jacket, with no hood or wet weather protection…it may not be very sensible but I love it.

I do have a 'leather' jacket with a hood already but I'm not keen on it and wanted a 'proper' biker jacket so asked Vince for this one for Christmas. He was a very good boyfriend and it was sitting, waiting for me under the tree on Christmas day. It fits perfectly and the quilted shoulders are pretty dreamy.

It's perfect for throwing on over any outfit but I particularly love it with a pair of black skinny jeans and a breton striped top. For £39.99 I think this is quite reasonable, when in the likes of Topshop you'd be paying double for fake leather jackets.

Folli Follie Festival Style

Unfortunately in my 25 years of life I have never been to a festival…it's a sad fact really but in my old age I don't think I can cope with that camping lark. I mean getting into a tent in a muddy field in the middle of the night doesn't sound like my idea of fun. I do, on the other hand, like the idea of watching all of the bands so I think glamping would probably be more my sort of style.

Folli Follie recently got in contact with me and asked if I'd like to receive a special 'festival' package. Of course, I jumped at the chance seeing as once again this year I won't be going to any. At least this way I can get a little taste of the festival lifestyle and I must admit I did enjoy it!

I was sent a gorgeous package of goodies including the Carma necklace* and Watchalicious Watch* and given free reign with how I styled them.

I decided to go with the 'glamping' idea as both pieces are so gorgeous so the Aqua and Black Contrast Jumpsuit* from Quiz Clothing came in super handy for this little project. It is a little bit long in the legs but with a pair of chunky wedges I don't think it's too bad. It's definitely not something I'd usually go for but I really love it however bad an idea it might be to wear a jumpsuit to a festival.

To help out with the festival theme I was also sent a package of beauty goodies including the Red Flower Garland headband* from New Look, a bottle of Umberto Giannini Backcomb in a bottle* and, I almost couldn't believe it, but a Urban Decay Naked Basics palette*. To say I was blown away with everything that was sent to me was an understatement. The absolute perfect products for creating this look.

In my opinion keeping things simple is the best way to go. The jumpsuit itself is really easy to just throw on and there's no tricky fastening at the back, which can sometimes be annoying. You might want to stick a pair of wellies on instead of some chunky heels though!

The Naked Basics palette is perfect for popping in your backpack and taking to the festival with you. You can create some really easy looks and all of the shades are totally me. The backcomb in a bottle is perfect for using when you have day old unwashed hair as you can keep it looking volumised and in some kind of decent condition.

I have to admit it was the floral headband that made this look for me, who could imagine something so simple would do so. I've always been someone who has mocked floral headbands. I think they can get a bit over the top and look a bit silly but this one is really cute and the flowers are really small so it's pretty subtle and a lovely little touch to make any outfit a tad more feminine. I actually really like it and would wear it out and about so my opinion on them has really changed.

All in all I'm really pleased with this outfit. All of the little touches such as the jewellery, makeup and headband, make it complete and it's one of my faves.

Everything's rosy - Atelier 61 rose print playsuit

Another week, another playsuit featured on the blog. This time from Atelier 61 at House of Fraser. I must admit this is not a brand I've ever heard of before but I have to say they do some adorable stuff. Fab prints and patterns and really reasonable prices too. Originally this playsuit was £26, which is pretty reasonable anyway but it was reduced to £17 and now the white version is available at just £15. What a bargain.

While I've played it safe with a black playsuit I think the pattern of this one is pretty eye popping and means you don't really need to go overboard with the accessories. The playsuit is very fitted but remains really comfy and has some very neat pleats running down the front, which give it a great structure. It works perfectly for a smart occasion as well as a casual one. It fits perfectly and I personally think it suits my body shape.

So, top marks over all and next time I'm in Bristol I'll definitely be popping into House of Fraser to check out the clobber.

A summer wardrobe staple from Rare London

I'm not really a dress or skirt kind of girl. There was a time when I wouldn't go anywhere near them but as I've got older I've worn the odd one here and there but still never really feel comfortable. A solution to the problem… playsuits. I really thought these weren't for me but out of nowhere I tried some on and loved, loved, loved them.

I was recently contacted and asked if I'd like to try something from Rare London, which is a brand I've not tried before. It was pretty difficult to choose something to be honest as there's such a fab variety to choose from. I toyed with the idea of going for a dress or some sandals but I thought I'd go for the Embroidered Trim Playsuit*.

Despite the awkward zip/toilet situation you can incur with a playsuit, they really are my favourite clothing for the summer - they let you bare your legs while maintaining your dignity and they can be dressed up for a night out with heels/accessories or worn casually with some sandals or wellies if you're off to a festival.

This playsuit in particular is so pretty. Although it's black I think the colourful trim detailing gives it a great edge and for me, someone who wears black quite often, it really brightens up an outfit. The best thing about it is you don't need to accessorise with a chunky necklace, you can just keep it simple as I have with some pretty sandals and a backpack - another great festival must have! This is a brilliantly comfortable playsuit to wear and has an elasticated waist so you can eat as much as you like without baring a food baby!

At £42 this is quite expensive in my opinion, but a staple piece like this is a wardrobe must-have so I certainly think it's worth treating yourself. I'll definitely be heading to Rare London more often.

Ahh my lovely long hair! I'm kind of regretting getting it cut right at this moment… anyway, onto the outfit. Not exactly anything to write home about but I really, really like this crop top. It doesn't really come out cropped on me as I'm so short but I just love it. The pattern is perfect and I love the sleeve length too. So far I've just worn it with plain jeans on the bottom as I'm not really sure what else to team it with, I'm quite wary of clashing patterns.

I had such a job searching for these shoes. Matalan never had my size in store or online so I ended up trying on a size 3 and a size 5. The size 3 was too small and the 5 a bit too big but as there's a strap then my feet don't really slip around in them so I went for the size 5 in the end. There's so pretty and the strap gives a little edge to what would otherwise be a plain ballet pump.

Me, in shorts? What is going on? Not too long ago I had quite a few vouchers to spend in New Look so I went a little mad and bought a whole lot of spring/summer clothing. I say spring/summer clothing but I've only ever worn these shorts with tights so far!

I have to say I do prefer shorts to skirts. I don't like tight/hot pant type shorts, I prefer ones that are quite loose fitting and I really love ones with pockets. I spotted the Black Floral Print Crochet Trim Shorts and thought they were so pretty I just had to try them on. I really liked them and I think for £12.99 they're a real bargain, great for when it is actually hot!

I recently wore them on a night out with tights and the very boots you can see pictured and I felt super comfortable in them. They're quite a thin material and I just love the crochet trim on them. There was another pattern available on the rail as well, which I think I might have to pick up.

I also picked up the Cream Daisy Broderie Button Back Shell Top, which again is really unlike me. I am NOT one for vest tops and showing off my shoulders at all. I'm VERY self conscious about them but recently I've just sort of thrown caution to the wind and thought why the hell shouldn't I wear a vest top. I need to be braver when it comes to clothes and this is just the start. I love the lacey detail on this, it's super pretty, but I'm very wary that it is white as me and white don't usually mix. Any white clothing I have usually ends up with some kind of food down it!

Now I just need some sunshine and I can loose the tights and boots. I must admit the boots are the biggest bargain I've got this year. They were £4.50 in the Internacionale sale and they are SO comfy. I wore them on a night out and usually if I wear any type of heel for more than five minutes my feet feel like they're going to fall off but these were just lovely to wear. They are going to get so much use in the autumn/winter time, I can promise you that!

It seems a bit silly to be wearing tights with this when it's been so nice out but I guess there will still be the odd chilly day or two. I actually picked this dress up from eBay of all places. I spotted it on a blog wish list (I forget which blog as so many have featured it recently) and I bought it straight away, without a second thought. On arrival I discovered it's actually a Primark dress so I was pretty happy and it arrived in about two days, which is brilliant.

To put it simply, it's a tshirt dress, so there's not much in the way of fit/shape so I added a little waist belt that I had hanging around and I think/hope it breaks the pattern up a little bit and gives me a bit more shape. I think this dress is perfect not only for the chillier days but also for the hotter days teamed with a pair of sandals and what's even better is that unlike most tshirt dresses, this isn't see through!

I picked up the low top trainers from Next recently after I went shopping there with a gift card. I love the faux leather and the suede toe and they're so comfy too. I think they're pretty reasonable for the price as they'll last for years.

New Look crop t-shirt and polka dot shorts

Recently I signed up to an offers site that was offering a £10 New Look voucher for just £5. 'What a bargain' I thought… so I got two and I spent them pretty much straight away too. I'd seen these shorts several times in various New Look stores and I had even picked them up and carried them round with me with the intention of buying them, but then I put them back. I'm not sure why but they went straight into my virtual basket when I had my vouchers. I was also looking for something a bit different top wise. I went for a crop tshirt full of minty green goodness.

To be honest it's not very cropped on me, which I prefer, and paired with these shorts I think I've come up with the perfect 'smart' interview type outfit, but it can also be worn casually with a pair of sandals in the summer. I am definitely planning on picking up the tshirt in a few other colours, there is a gorgeous red/berry colour that is just calling out to me.

I adore these shorts as they're very floaty like a skirt but you don't have the worry of them blowing up with a big gust of wind and revealing everything!

Matalan Textured Crop Sweat and Daisy Flock Skirt

Another outfit, can you believe it? This one features three new bits I picked up from Matalan recently. I'm not sure why I picked up the top/jumper to be honest but something just called out to me. It comes in a textured/quilted look material, which I actually really like but it came with a garish plastic necklace attached to it, which I really didn't like. Thankfully I was able to get the necklace off and wear my lovely new daisy one.

I don't usually wear necklaces but this one was too pretty to pass up. I would really recommend Matalan for jewellery as they have some really great pieces. It's definitely a cheaper alternative to the likes of other hughstreet stores, such as Topshop and New Look.

The top itself is a strange fit. It's cropped, but not so much that you're showing off your stomach but it's the sleeves I'm not really used to yet. They sort of puff out at the elbows as you can see and make me look wider than I actually am. I probably should have teamed this with a skater skirt to even out my proportions a bit but it's all trial and error with me.

I do really like it though. It's not too thick that you're left sat sweating but it's just right for a spring/summer evening. I decided to pick up the daisy flock skirt to go with it as it's just so, so pretty. Skirts like this are perfect for work/meetings but I wouldn't really wear them casually. It would work pretty well for a night out outfit though with a pair of heels and a more glam top.

New Look Black Lace Up Ankle Boots - £19.99

This past weekend inspired a bit of a lighter, fresher outfit as the weather has been somewhat reasonable. It's nowhere near warm enough for bare legs so I've stuck with my jeans but have gone for acid wash ones (not that you can tell from the pics) instead of my usual black ones. I picked these up from Internacionale and I have to admit they are a little bit long so they're rolled up at the bottom, but overall I love them. I've got so used to wearing black skinnies literally all the time (I have many, many pairs) that it makes a nice change to wear something in a different colour.

Around the house it was warm enough for just a single tee so I opted for something pretty simple in the New Look Grey Burnout Tee. This is just the perfect simple wardrobe staple and one you can pick up in a multitude of colours too, that will literally go with everything! I would quite like to pick up some more brighter colours for summer such as pink, but I'm not sure I'd suit it!

Hooray, I've finally found a decent-ish place to take outfit photos! This is in my conservatory, which has pretty great light so I'm really happy to have found somewhere now. I did use my garden in the past but it's a complete mess at the moment so this is a great alternative.

I picked this playsuit up from Internacionale about a month ago and absolutely love it, although since creating this post I've found out the brand has gone into administration! I am gutted! I knew as soon as I received it and took it out of its packaging that it would fit perfectly and (in my opinion) look pretty good too. I love the fit of this but there's one teeny tiny thing that annoys me a little and that's that it has a zip and a loop hole button at the back. The loop hole button is pretty tricky to secure so it would be a right pain when you have to go to the loo! I actually just leave it undone and you can't even tell when you have a cardigan on.

Speaking of my cardigan I completely copied this from Temporary-Secretary as it looked so lovely and cosy. It is really soft and fluffy and it's a great quality so after washing it still maintains it's softness and fluffiness.

I picked up the ankle boots from the kids section of New Look. They fit me perfectly and are a fraction cheaper than the adults shoes. Great! If you have small feet, particularly a size 3 or 4 then I'd definitely recommend checking out the kids/teen section of shops.

I've gone quite casual with this playsuit and could probably make it even more casual with flat shoes/converse of some kind but it can be worn more dressed up with higher heels and maybe a blazer/jacket too.

Right back at it again

New Look: Grey Aztec Open Front Cardigan - £22.99, Black Leather-look Collar Crepe Shell Top - £14.99

This post has been sitting in my drafts for ages and I completely forgot about it! It's just a quick post to show you one of my favourite recent outfits featuring a new top and cardigan.

For my birthday I received some New Look vouchers and surprisingly it didn't take me very long to spend them! I practically zoomed around the shop picking up things I liked and headed to the changing rooms. I picked up the Black Leather-look Collar Crepe Shell Top as I adore little collared tops and this one is just gorgeous. It's perfect for wearing casually or dressing up for an interview or going out.

I also picked up the Grey Aztec Open Front Cardigan, which is something a little different for me. As someone who always wears black it's quite strange that I went for something that is white (admittedly there is black patterning but ssh!). I just love the print on this and it's so cosy that I really couldn't resist. Teaming the two new buys together has created a look I really like. I tend to wear this with jeans and ankle boots but it can also be worn with a skirt like the above for a bit of a smarter take.
