Padded camera purse

http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2012/03/turn-a-purse-into-a-padded-camera-bag.html

You HAVE to visit this site and see what she came up with!  It is so super cute.  I LOVED the idea and hurried down to DI and found a really cute purse for $2, barely used.

One thing that she doesn't mention in the how-to is that you should probably use lint-free fabric.  The only true lint-free fabric is ripstop but Joann's didn't have any patterned fabric so I went for the outdoor/upholstery fabric.  Mine was not as precise as hers but it will work for me.  I love it!

Palisades paddle boats

Apparently we need a disclaimer when operating paddle boats......

Cory was gone at summer camp for Father's Day (as usual) so we scooted on up to Gunnison to spend the weekend with Mom and Dad.  They took us to a cool little lake where you could rent canoes and paddle boats.  We had two rented.  On the way to our picnic area from the docks, Michael and Jessica were in a boat together and Jessica's foot slipped off the pedals and got crushed.  She was in tons of pain and it instantly started to swell.
Then of course she had NAM for the next weekend.  This pic is on the Thursday after it had been crushed.  We had it x-rayed just to be sure and they gave her a boot to wear.  She was able to keep her foot immobile enough that by Saturday her foot was better enough to learn and perform the production number.  Thank goodness it was an easy one.  She is a trooper though.  Can you imagine having to wear heels after that?  Well she did and was amazing.  We are so proud of her.  So when renting paddle boats, wear good shoes!

Boys' happenings

The HHS football team put on a football camp this week.  It was really fun to see Christian and Michael playing football together.  This will probably be the last time this will happen.  They had a lot of fun!

Kool-Aid colored hair

The new thing is coloring the ends of your hair.... well so I am told.  Jess decided that she was going to try this.  She followed the instructions she saw on a YouTube video.  This is what it looked like.
The video said it would wash right out.  This is what it looked like after a month of trying to get it to come out.  3 inches shorter!

I think she learned her lesson (I hope).  Note:  DO NOT USE KOOL-AID!

NAM 2013

Jessica had the opportunity to participate in NAM again this year.  What a fun way to perform!  We had so much fun.  Jessica was in the Preteen division and age group 13-15.  Since she was the very youngest it was quite interesting to see the difference in size and maturity.

Jessica played the piano for her talent and she took 3rd runner-up.  She received "Best Resume" again this year.  She was also one of the top ten out of 46 girls.  For being the youngest in the group, I think she was able to accomplish a ton!  This program awards many scholarships and it is a great program.  We hope to return in 2014!
