Cooper went PEE-PEE on the Potty for the 1st Time Today!

Mommy bought Cooper a potty that goes on the toilet last week and have been sitting him on it to get used to it every once in a while, especially before bath-time.  Since he’s naked anyway, we figured it’s a good time to try to go pee.  So far he hasn’t peed on it yet.  Just sits there smiling, then gets off and flushes the toilet.  No big deal since we aren’t really wanting to train him yet, just get him used to it.

Well today mommy made up a potty song – Cooper goes pee, and I sat a baby doll on the toilet and cheered, pretending the baby went pee.  Then pretended to give the baby a treat.   Next thing you know Cooper points to the toilet and looks like he wants up.  So I get his pants off and set him on.  Mommy started to sign the pee song and low and behold --

Cooper went pee-pee.  Mommy cheered and Cooper flushed the toilet – bye bye pee!  Then I gave him a little treat as a reward.   A piece of a teddy-graham with chocolate chips inside.   Since he never gets cookies I figure this will be the perfect potty training treat.

I’m sure part of this was just a nice coincidence, but still – he did it!  It’s a start.

We were thinking of starting to train Cooper at 15 months – so he’s about a month early right now.  But I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to have a few pull-up’s on hand for practice periods until then.

YAY COOPER – what a BIG BOY you are!!!

14 Months Old

Cooper is 14 Months today!   Where oh where does the time go?

He is doing so many new and wonderful things it’s hard to know where to start.   But here are a few of his latest and greatest tricks!

- He says the first syllable to eyes, nose, and mouth – while pointing to them.

- He feeds Phinnegan treats and food – gets them all by himself and does it.  He splashes around in his water bowl and the word no has gone right out the window as he tests his limits.

- He is trying the shhhh sound.  As he says “shhh'” for shoes and “chhh” for cheese.  It’s very funny and cute.

- He got his new big car seat this month.

- He’s starting to paint and draw and complete puzzles and other basic thinking toys.

- He still loves calling nana on the phone.  He says nana and papa and a version of grandpa and grandma, and loves pointing to them in pictures.

-He’s marching around everywhere, exploring everything and having so much fun inside and out.

- He got three new teeth this month, two more front bottom teeth, and even a molar!  It came through before any of the other little ones, and a few top molars are on the way, and have been causing him lots of pain.

-He’s still not sleeping through the night, the little bug!   But he’s getting close.

- And he’s finally stating to get some hair!  We’ve really noticed it starting to come in over the last month – it’s not much, but it’s definitely coming in finally!

Oh Cooper – you are so cute and we love you so much!

Cooper’s Second Thanksgiving!

Wow – it’s hard to believe that Cooper is over a year old now and has been through the whole calendar year once and onto round two.  But, this year, Cooper celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving back in Canada – with all his grandparents!   We (and he) are so lucky to have shared this holiday with our families – the reason we came home – and the true meaning of life – family!   We are blessed beyond belief to have Cooper in our lives and give thanks that we were able to share this holiday together with our families.

First Cooper had thanksgiving with his grandparents in Kincardine, and then had Thanksgiving his his nana and papa and cousins in St. Thomas.
