The Announcement

Sorry I have multiple posts in one day. Let's just say I'm a little bored at work and wanted to stay caught up on this thing.

We had a great Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, I usually never have my camera so I didn't get any pictures of the festivities. After the freezing cold run, I hurried home to shower so we could head up to my mom's. Dave then informed me that the shower was clogged and he couldn't fix it. Great. We eventually figured out that the pipes were frozen and got it taken care of. Great start to the day.

We made it up to my mom's for Thanksgiving. It was great to be together as a family, (although we missed Chad, Dan and Suzy). We had decided that we would announce that I was pregnant on Thanksgiving, but we weren't quite sure how we would do it. We figured an opportunity would present itself. And of course, it did. My sister, bless her heart, was a week overdue to have her third baby. She was a trooper and still joined us for dinner. As I sat down and got settled, I realized that I needed more gravy. My mom was right by the gravy, so I asked her to get me some. My younger sister of course says, 'Shauna you're so lazy, get up and get it yourself!' Then she points to my sister who's 9 months+ pregnant, and says, 'When you're pregnant like that people can wait on you.' So Dave took advantage of the situation and said, 'Oh yeah, that's why she asked. Is that why people are waiting on her?'

Everyone seriously just laughed like 'Ha ha Dave, another joke. Shauna's not pregnant.' He even said again, 'So Shauna will get waited on now because she's pregnant?' Again, just laughter, a little less boisterous that time. Then I looked at my Mom and said, 'You guys he's not joking, I'm pregnant!!' Then came the screaming. It was pretty funny.

What was even more funny is that the next day with Marshall's, we got about the same reaction. We were all gathered ready to pray, said the blessing on the food, then Dave says, 'You guys, can Shauna get her food first cause she is eating for two.' They kind of laughed and then I looked at them and said, 'Yep, I'm pregnant!' And more screaming.

Good times. We were happy to tell the good news to our family. They have all been so supportive and kind to us and we're so grateful.

Thanksgiving Cold Turkey Run 2010

This year I decided to join some of the fam and participate in this 6k. Dave chose not to. I bugged him about not doing it, until the day before the run. We saw the forecast predicting the temperature to be about 4 degrees that next morning. Then he bugged me about how he'd be in the warm bed while we were all freezing! Oh well, it was fun and made me feel less guilty about the apple pie I ate.

The gang waiting for it to start.

Why are people crazy? Does it really make it more fun?

Me and Lisa reenacting our finish.

Ross is glad the race is over!! Actually, he was trying to
get Will to do his 'Tough Guy' impression.

All in all, we had a good time. Would I do it again?? Questionable.

Christmas Concert

We have been very lucky in the past to attend several of the Christmas concerts with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I particularly enjoyed Brian Stokes Mitchell, and Sissel. I was disappointed this year when we didn't get any tickets. Luckily, a few days ago, Dave's sister Jodi asked if we would like to go with her and her husband. I was thrilled! I kept asking Dave, now you're sure it's with David Archuleta right?? He and Jodi assured me that it said 'David Archuleta' on the ticket. Awesome. So then, Dave and Jodi both end up being sick!! Luckily, Dave felt good enough on Sunday morning, but poor Jodi was home in bed. (Well as much as you can be with an 18 month old). Dave, Blair and I got the the Conference Center, and parked with ease. Then the rain decided to fall. I mean, pour!! We had the three of us huddled under a small umbrella. The boys backs of their suits were soaked. My hair and coat got it pretty good as well. But it was all worth it once we got in.

We got to listen to the Music and the Spoken Word, which the Tabernacle choir puts on every Sunday morning. It was such a good concert. Michael York did a few narratives, and read Luke 2. He tells such good stories. The music and dancing were absolutely amazing. It definitely helped us get more into the Christmas spirit. Dave was even GLAD that we went. All in all, it was a success. Sorry Jodi couldn't go, but we appreciated the tickets, and I'm sure the guy who Blair gave the extra ticket to was appreciative as well!

I finally caved . . . . .

Well despite Dave's persistance against it, I've finally joined the blogging world. I have no idea how to work all this, so be patient! I will try to be better about taking pictures and documenting our happenings, but I make no promises!!
