Earthquakes and hurricanes back home…but we’re enjoying sunny, clear days here in the Northwest! Can we time our vacation days or what? Hopefully the house will still be in one piece when we get back. Late Tuesday night, Jed and Eve rolled into Camas, WA. We’ve enjoyed spending the last couple days with the Parker-side for the family. On Wednesday, we went to Fort Vancouver. Melinda set off a beaver trap without hurting herself, and Adelaide fell in love with a bucket –a successful trip! I wonder if these bounce? Baby in a Bucket Yesterday, we headed up to see the fish ladders and hatchery at the Bonneville Dam. Watching the salmon swim upstream through the viewing windows was an interesting and unique experience. And, the hatchery was beautiful. The fish ponds are surrounded by lovely gardens and literally thousands of rose bushes – all in bloom! Educating Adelaide about the different types of  salmon she will help us to catch one day. We hear Virginia has been rockin’ since we left. While, we haven’t done anything quite as earth-shaking on our vacation so far as a, well, earthquake – we still think hanging out with the Jensen clan rocks! This Sunday we were able to catch up with Barbara and Jessica. After church, Adelaide put everyone through their paces at the park. Adelaide inherited some of these  good looks - don't you think? Swinging is more fun with "pushers' on both ends. Monday was mostly spent working hard to help Barbara tidy-up her basement and garage for an upcoming re-model. Matt also de-mossed the back porch, which is no small task in the Northwest. Today we took a break to go see Multnomah Falls. Adelaide was very excited by the running water and gestured wildly for us to take her closer so she could play in it. Unfortunately for her, she was forced to admire from a distance. After months of longing for and anticipating our vacation – it’s finally here! On Friday, we hopped aboard a plane and flew back to the land of our fore fathers – you know, the West Coast. Our late night trip was fraught with the normal amount of airport delays, nearly-missed connections, rude flight attendants, and thirty second lay-overs. Adelaide behaved about as well as you’d expect from a tired 14-month old in a strange place, strapped into a chair. We bribed her into submission with Gerber Yogurt Melts until she eventually fell asleep several hours after her normal bedtime. Whose Idea Was This? We’re still a little jet-lagged, but happy to be visiting family. Adelaide is already checking out all the spots where the “cool kids” hang out in Southern Washington. On Saturday, we went to the Farmer’s Market. Adelaide loved the imitation-creek water feature.
