Gators and Mopeds

While Melinda and Adelaide were bumming around last weekend, one Jensen was working his tail off gator huntin' deep in the Florida swamps. This one was particularly ferocious. Ummm... it was a nice swamp... ...with pretty buildings... ...a ranked business school... ...and a statue of Tim Tebow. Matt put in some pretty long days and nights doing his business school orientation and initial classwork. Not only was in he in class 10 hours a day plus homework - this champion Dad was up by 5:30 am every morning so he could Skype his little girl. It wasn't all hard work and sleep deprivation. The MBA class was allowed an excursion to a ropes course to do some team building. Clearly, Matt is someone you want on your team. Seriously - he's got skills like Spider Man... ...and the lesser-known Hula Hoop Man. Look at them all working as a team! Corporate America, you future is in good hands. Matt arrived back in Virginia around midnight last Saturday. And, we're all ...

No Rest for the Weary

This morning, Melinda met with the prenatal specialists at Inova Hospital.  After a few tests and some more time spent reviewing past test results, Melinda was taken off bed rest. Wahoo!  Adelaide is slightly disappointed that Mommy is back on the ground playing with toys and asking her to do shape puzzles - instead of letting her continue the Elmo-athon that made up most of their weekend. But, Melinda is thrilled to no longer be making a dent in the couch while bumming off of friends and neighbors. We're not totally in the clear. Melinda will probably have to check in weekly for tests through the rest of this pregnancy and is still on reduced-activity orders. There is a whole list of things that she is no longer allowed to do. But, that's okay. Who really wants to play basketball in their ninth month of pregnancy?  Here's a picture of our little trouble maker in the the making. This was taken last Thursday - she wouldn't cooperate for a head shot this morning. She ...

See You Later Alligator!

Today Matt left to officially start his MBA program at the University of Florida. He'll spend almost two weeks basking in their sunny climate and enjoying orientation courses. Then, back home for some distance learning. Sorry Adelaide, you can't go with Dad. But, Adelaide and Melinda aren't sad about being left home alone... they have lots of fun plans. Okay, they're a little sad. Ten minutes after Matt landed in in Florida, Melinda's doc called her and put her on temporary bed rest for having low amniotic fluid levels. Hopefully, if she's good all weekend and drinks lots of water - she'll be allowed back on her feet Monday. Until then, we are so grateful for the support of all our neighbors and friends during this unexpected little challenge. Go Gators!

Our Christmas Break

It’s the last day of our “Christmas Break.” We’ve really enjoyed relaxing and taking it easy the past week and a half. In just two weeks, Matt flies down to Florida to start his MBA with ten days of on-campus classes (he’ll fly down every three months or so). And, in just eight weeks, we’ve got another little girl joining the family. So, we’re appreciating the free time while we can! Having Melinda’s folks in town was a lot of fun. We were able to squeeze in some local adventures, home improvement work and lots of quality Grandparent time. Though Jeff and Gale flew home a couple days ago, Adelaide is still asking for Gam-mama and Bump-pa.  Walking to the park. We spent so much time there, Adelaide learned  some new words, "Slide" and "Wheee!"  "Wheee," is the word she has decided means "swing."  Snatch! Adelaide claims Grandpa's hat while he and dad check out the helicopters at the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum. Adelaide was pretty impr...
