Singing

So when our ward split I somehow got put on the "singing list" (couldn't have anything to do with Jordan being in the bishopric . . . right? ha. ha. Yeah, he thinks he's funny). So this Sunday I'm singing with two other girls in Sacrament meeting. This week I had to bring Calin with me to practice. It almost made my humiliation worth it when he started singing along with us! Now when I sing to him, he sings with me. I wish I could get a picture or a video of it. He's always loved mimicking sounds, and every new thing he comes up with is so cute! Maybe when I finally get it on camera I'll update this post :)

Fresh

Jordan told me about Bountiful Baskets back in March. I finally decided to try it out in May. And LOVED it!! This is only our second basket because they sell out so fast. It's one of my favorite things! $15 for a basket full of fresh fruits and veggies.
This week in our basket: avocados, carrots, tomatoes, broccoli, romaine lettuce, green beans, peaches, plums, cantaloupe, bananas, grapes, and cherries.
We also decided to split the basket with some friends so we can get one each week (usually with only the two of us, the basket would last 2 weeks) so the produce stays fresh.
If you haven't tried bountiful baskets yet, we highly recommend it! The site can be confusing, but if you log in tonight at 8:00 mst it will make more sense.

Other exciting and congratulatory news:

My adorable cousin got engaged yesterday! I am SO excited for them! They've been together for . . . umm . . . 5 years 6 years! So this is big news :) Congrats Leash!

AND after 4 nephews, it looks like Jordan and I will finally have a niece! I can't believe it. A little Spence girl! Kelly just found out this afternoon. Congrats N&K fam!

Today is the first day of summer. And it is actually starting to feel like it here in Rexburg. It just might get up to 70 today! Wahoo!

Fathers

Happy Father's Day!! To all the fathers in our lives - we sure do LOVE you!!
Calin has been sleeping really well the past couple nights, and he's usually my alarm clock. So this morning, I woke up at 9:30 to a car alarm going off outside. 9:30! Jordan had been up for a while, and Calin still hadn't made a peep. I was pretty upset to find Jordan cleaning the kitchen this morning. Opps. I did at least make him breakfast before he headed off to his church meetings. Nate, Kelly, and the boys came over for dinner. Jordan grilled up some delicious tri-tip! I think Jordan enjoyed his first father's day quite a bit! Yesterday we did some shopping, and went to the splash park with Calin. It was Jordan's first time being able to go with him, and they both really enjoyed it!

June Utah Trip

We had a great time in Utah! Too short though.
We drove down Friday afternoon and met everyone at Boondocks that night for Matt's birthday party that night.

We had big plans for a sunny warm weekend, but the weather choose not to cooperate :(
The boys still went golfing Saturday morning though. And since no one else was willing to brave the cold weather, they had the golf course all to themselves

After golfing we went to Tucanos for lunch - Yum! Then did some shopping, watched a movie and played some games.

Sunday was Dallin's birthday and Kelly did a cute toy story theme since Dallin LOVES everything Toy Story these days (what kid doesn't?)

Kelly made chocolate cupcakes with cookie dough inside. So Good!

Jordan and Jason were pretty upset about the hole inside Jordan's cupcake where the cookie should have been. Not sure what happened there, but he insisted I get a picture of it.

After presents we headed back to Rexburg with Braden, who is staying with us till tomorrow.

Ty's 1st birthday was on the 10th. I honestly can not believe he is already a year old! And little Calin is just a couple months behind!

The cute twin cousins :)

Ty got this push toy for his birthday, and Calin loved it! He would only take a few steps with it on the carpet, but walked all over the kitchen! We'll have to get him one soon too :)

I took SO many pictures this weekend! My nephew's are just too cute! I can't resist!

Tanner was quite the model this weekend! He loves posing for the camera, it is so cute! And doesn't his hair look adorable! He always says he wants it to look like Jordan's :)

Ty and Calin with Grandpa Spence

We were so happy to see Jordan's dad! Even though it was only for a couple days, it was fun!

Sierra is such a cute girl! Hard to get a picture of, but SO cute!

Nate and Dallin saying "hi"

Me and my sweet boy

M & M {& T)} - Thanks for letting us stay with you!

Family

This afternoon we're heading to Utah for the weekend. It was Ty's 1st birthday yesterday. I can not believe how fast this first year has gone for our little babies! Tonight we're celebrating Matt's birthday with a big bash at Boondocks. It will be fun to see everyone again! Especially Jordan's dad and brother Braden who flew in from Texas! We'll also get to see Jordan's aunt Mitzi from AZ who is passing through Salt Lake City this weekend. I think this will be the first time in 3 years that all of Jordan's family { dad, brothers, wives, kids } will be together, so this is exciting!

Little Giraffe vs Shi Shu

Calin's favorite blanket {the one I have already fixed from tearing once - the one I turned into TWO} has just about retired - both of them.

They both have huge tears in them right now. And I'm not sure I can keep fixing them. So I went on an online hunt for a new one.

I googled "Little Giraffe velvet blankets"

Hmmm . . .
Remember how I only payed $2 for this one?!
Well, turns out, everywhere else they're around $60!
Now I'm totally kicking myself for throwing it in the wash with everything else, and then also into the dryer when it specifically says not to.

What do I do? He won't take a paci anymore, so sometimes his blanket is all that will sooth him, and it does a dang good job, every time! He LOVES it! He lights up just at the sight of it. No other blanket even comes close.

Well, I decided before I fork out $60 on a new blanket, I better try something else first
Especially since that $60 blanket could fall apart just as easily as the first one. Though I don't think I would go with the velvet again since that's the part that keeps falling apart.

So I compromised, and went organic . . .

Gilt Groupe had Shi Shu Baby blankets on sale for about 70% off. I've heard great things about these blankets too, so I bought a snuggler for only $10. I'm really hoping it works out.
If not, Calin will have to choose between having clothes to get dressed in each day, or a blanket.
Ha, I wonder what he would choose :)

{ Update: I just heard that Gilt is having a sale on Little Giraffe blankets starting this Thursday! I hope it's a good sale! For Calin's sake of course :) I already set up a reminder for it }

Dunes & Burgers

Since we'll finally be in Rexburg for a summer, we decided we should probably venture out to the famous spots around here.

So Saturday we went to the Sand Dunes in St Anthony.

They're very pretty, but I'm not a fan of the sand & wind combo.

Calin loved it (mostly just eating the sand), but we all were completely coated in sand when we left. Yuck. Maybe there are days that aren't windy there? Those days would be ok.

Jordan had fun sledding down the side of the dunes

Here's Calin rooting him on

After the dunes we headed to Big Jud's in Archer. It's weird that this was our first time there. EVERYONE goes to Big Jud's. We decided to get the famous Big Jud burger, and split it. It's a full pound of hamburger meat, so we each only had 1/4.

Oh, we also went to the driving range. Jordan has left handed clubs, so I have never hit with him before. Actually I had never even held a real golf club till Saturday. We decided to rent a set for me (though the guy didn't charge us :) so I could hit a few. And I actually enjoyed it!

Maybe next time we'll head up to Yellowstone, or Jackson Hole

This morning I did SIX loads of laundry. Ugh. In the rain. Luckily I have a sweet husband who started the first 4 loads for me at 7am while I was still in bed :) So now, I better get started on folding it all and putting it away. That could take all day! haha

9 Month Stats

Calin had his 9 month checkup this morning.

Here are his stats compared to his 6 month checkup

Weight
9 Months: 19 lbs - 24th percentile
6 months: 17 lbs - 40th percentile
increase of 2 lbs and down 16%

Hight
9 months: 27.8" 30th percentile
6 months: 27" - 70th percentile
increase of 3/4" and down 40%
(I'm still pretty certain they measured him wrong at his 6 month check up)

Head Circumference
9 months: 17.5" - 25th percentile
6 months: 16.8" - 18th percentile
increase of .7" and up 7%

I think it's funny that Calin's only in the 24th percentile for weight considering how often I hear "he's so chubby!" He's no michelin man, but he sure does have some meat on those bones. Maybe it's his lack of neck that makes him look chubbier?

The doctor said not to worry about him refusing solids just yet. As long as I keep trying then it's ok. The past couple days I've been mixing his applesauce (just about the only thing he'll eat) with green beans, and he's actually been eating it! Gross right?! Who would think applesauce and green beans would taste better than just plain green beans?
