When God Whispers Your Name by Max Lucado

Max Lucado is a master storyteller. His ability to take a Bible story that we all know and transform it into a memorable story that helps us remember the biblical lesson is amazing.

This book could easily be read in one or two sittings, but I chose to spread it out a bit further. Each chapter is an epic reminder of how much God loves you! We all at times need to be reminded of that simple truth - and this book is a great way to do just that.

Thank You, God, for Blessing Me - Max Lucado

Just as Max Lucado's books for adults speak straight to the heart, this book does the same for preschoolers. A simple, straight-forward lesson on being thankful for what God has given you. My grand-daughter and I both enjoyed reading this book together many times. Hermie and friends are great characters that Max has used to teach truths to preschoolers.

One Call Away - Brenda Warner

I "accidentally" opened this book on my Kindle one night and by the time I stopped reading that evening I was nearly half way through the book! It caught my attention from the beginning and I couldn't put it down. I laughed and cried as Brenda shared the reality of her life with us. Being an avid football fan, I had always liked Kurt Warner both for his play on the field and his testimony off the field. I now have a whole new respect for him and his family after reading "the rest of the story." I highly recommend this book.

Book Review - Max on Life

Max on Life by Max Lucado

This was by far not my favorite Max Lucado book. Although the content was good (as he always is) I just did not like the format of this book with the questions/answers. At times it was very interesting and other times I just couldn't get into it. I am normally a BIG fan of Max Lucado books, but this one just didn't do much for me.

The book is broken down into several categories and he shares questions he has received over his years as a pastor and his answers to them. The answers are correct and concise and I'm sure would be a good resource for those dealing with others. It would also be good for someone perhaps in a time of need, but it just wasn't for me.

Book Review - We Be Big

Although I have lived in Alabama for many years, I never really heard of or listened to Rick and Bubba until 2004 when I was driving to Birmingham and "happened" upon them talking about "The Passion of the Christ" movie. I have been a regular listener ever e since!

I absolutely loved the book "We Be Big" because it went back and filled in all of the history of Rick and Bubba for me. It was so interesting to go back to their early days and find out how the show actually got started. It gave me a whole new respect for these two men and the job they do every morning.

If you have ever listened to the show and wanted to know more about these guys, this is the perfect book for you to read! I would highly recommend it!

Book Review - Green

Green - by Ted Dekker

I am a new fan of Ted Dekker and was turned on to his books by my oldest daughter, who has read everything he has written. She had told me about the circle trilogy and encouraged me to read them. When I saw that "Green" could be read as either the first book OR the last book, I decided to go ahead and get it and read it first!

It took a while for me to really get into this book, and at times it was confusing and felt that maybe I should have read the other books first. In and of itself it was a good story that I could follow most of the time, but to be honest I am not on the edge of my seat wanting to read the rest of the series. From my standpoint it might have been better to read this as the last book, since it seems most people who have already read the other three did like this one.

Book Review - Plan B

Plan B by Pete Wilson

Little did I know when I ordered this book that I would soon be dealing with a "Plan B" part of my own life and my grown children's lives. This was a very timely book for me and was just what I needed for this season of my own life. I would highly recommend this book to anyone - even if you are not facing a Plan B right now, you never know when your plans might change!
