Finals...Shminals...all done!

Yeah we are finally done with all our projects and tests, as well as all the Christmas programs, and choir pieces....Now we get to relax a bit and think about "Christ"mas and family. I say "Christ" mas because we gave our last lesson of the year today on The Spirit of "Christ"mas. It turned out great. I was sick all last night with a cough, itchy throat, and trouble breathing and sleeping, (I think its the post-finals syndrom, or my usual getting sick every Christmas). But I still made it to church and set up all the "cute stuff" for our lesson, the cute nativity that mom sent us, some pictures of Christ, and some prelude music complements of Mormon Tabernacle Choir. The lesson was up to Micah though, since I needed to preserve my voice for singing in the choir right after it. We did both bear our testimonies at the end, I figured I could handle that much. We love our class, and it was really full today, more than we've ever had!

But anyways, no more choir for a couple weeks, and no more classes for a couple weeks...Yeah!

This week we also enjoyed having several fun meals.... One was a sushi night! We made our own sushi wraps and lettuce wraps...It's a decent one timer, but we wouldn't make it a regular thing.

On Friday night we had fun at Jaden's Curious George Birthday Party. Jaden is 4! Yeah for him!
I had alot of fun picking out a book and some fun gifts to go with it. I got him the Curious George Dinosaur Discovery book, and to go with it was dinosaur undies, a dinosaur shirt, and little dinosaurs toys. The shirt looks super cute on him! ANd I had alot of fun making wrapping paper out of tissue paper and construction paper. He probably didn't appreciate the cute dino-looking wrapping as much as I did, but I had fun with it. Here's some pics...

Christmas is almost here, and we are so excited for Christmas Eve with Micah's family, and arriving in Oklahoma on Christmas Day to see my family, and little Owen especially. We will miss Mike and Carrie and Nickleman. But sounds like they seeing all sorts of cool things and places....EGYPT?!?! Golly geez, thats awesome. Well maybe some day we'll make it outside of Utah and somewhere besides Oklahoma , Colorado, and Texas, to see cool things... hehe :)
As for now, having almost everyone together for Christmas in Oklahoma is gonna be awesome...Can't Wait! Welp, we are gonna make some cookies for some people in the ward and at work, so till next time...

Our First Christmas!!!

SO this is what Micah and I did Black Friday evening...We made our First Christmas tree all decorated and everything... And we are so excited about it!!! There's nothin better to bring warmth and hominess to a house than a good christmas tree with a choochoo train too..... And we did it all for pretty cheap...

Micah got the tree back in August at a Garage sale for $15, and it already had lights, one just had to replace one bulb...extra bulbs from Walmart $1. Then we got a tree topper $10 at Big Lots, as well as plain colored balls in small and medium sizes for $6 and ornament hangers for $0.60.

The train around the bottom Micah had already. And we bought a round red table cloth from WalMart for $9 and I used my handy sewing skills to cut into the middle and finish the edge so it could go around the tree. We also painted some of the balls ourselves with silver and gold glitter paints from Roberts for $2.

And last but not least the bows are all reused ribbon from our wedding presents......

For a Grand Total of $43.60!!! We are pretty proud of that. ;)

Happy Holidays to everyone!!! Enjoy the season!

School, school, school, choir, school, school, sleep, school, work.

Welp, that's the story of our week. We spent 2 hours on Sunday at choir practices. Al is singing in a quartet during a song for the stake choir. We spent all weekend doing projects for school. When I say all day, I mean most of the day. I did eat some food, breath, sit down, drive to get supplies, and wait for my clay to bake. We're looking forward to Audrey and Sam coming up, and for Thanksgiving Break. Now we're going back to studying.

Halloween 2008

So Micah and I went to a Murder Mystery Party for Halloween. We had specific characters that we had to dress like. So here in this picture you see...Ernest "Bet a million" G. Ambler and Molly M. Awbster, otherwise known as "The Moll". We had a great time. Ernie is a stoke broker turned into a gambler, and loves his flashy suits, cigar, and diamond stick pen. Molly is a high class rebel who went out with a mobster and learned how to shoot a gun and drive cars real fast. She serves as the getaway driver throughout the whole mystery. She teams up with Ernie who provides the cars with the trap doors in them. Neither one of us ended up being the Murderer, but we got close on figuring out who it was. In the next picture you'll see all the other couples in character. There were 4 couples total. We also had mummy wrap hotdogs, jack o lantern pizzas, and witch fingers as hors d'oeurves. It was alot of fun!!!

Pictured here from left to right are.... S. Treighton Harrow, known as "Harrow" the lawyer, Malissa F. Orthott, known as "Scoop" the reporter, Billy "The Kid" Thrower, the baseball player, Anna Maria Carlotta Sassine, known as "Torchy" the singer, Molly M. Awbster, known as "Moll" the getaway driver, Earnest "Bet a Million" G. Ambler, the flamboyant gambler, Eddie R. Gyle, known as "Socks" the golfer, and "Silky" M. Adam, the club owner.

Here's another group picture. To tell you a bit about our costumes. I made most of mine. I bought the little red dress at DI and then sewed on the red fringe. I got the wig and boa at Joanns and made the headpiece and beads too. The red fringe was the most expensive part. It all totalled to about 32 dollars. Micah got off alot easier than me. He borrowed the suit, belt, and shoes from his brother. And then used his white temple tie. He also creatively made his cigar out of a wire hanger and brown paper bag, as well as his diamond stick pin from a piece of hanger hot glued to a big jewel. The only thing he paid for was the two dollar keychain that had the big jewel on it. Overall we did pretty good. I was even voted best costume at the halloween party I went to the Saturday before. I think it all came down to the bright red lipstick! :)

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

We got our first snow of the season yesterday! It's been pretty cold, and we finally got our swamp cooler taken out of the window. We turned the heater on and smelt all the dust burn. Micah loves the smell. I had some hot chocolate. We're still smashing away at the mountain called school, and keeping busy at work.
I've been designing some dresses for the new line, and Micah is contemplating switching his major to nursing...ok maybe not, but his boss did talk to him about focusing in hydraulics and getting an environmental engineering masters degree. That could be exciting.

Triple Duty!!!

So for church tomorrow, Micah and I got triple duty.... We will teach the lesson in Gospel Essentials class, then we both speak in sacrament meeting, and then we both are singing in the choir. Man, talk about everything all at once. Oh, plus since I am the music director, I'll be leading all the other songs in the meeting too. Wowee!

Micah and I decided to take up a new hobby to get in shape other than running. So we got passes to the Orem Rec center and we are taking up swimming! We are really excited and exhausted after the first swim. I never knew that swimming could be so exhausting. We are both gonna set some goals on how many laps to accomplish in one workout. This past time we only did about 3or4. Its nice too cuz it only takes about thirty minutes to get in and out and get a really good workout. So thats our newest thing!

What a night!

So last night we came home to a flooded kitchen! We can't figure out where the water came from. We've had kind of a leaky faucet but only when the water is on. And the counter was all flooded too. So it had to of come out from up higher some where. So anyways, spent a couple hours sopping up all the water and trying to dry everything out. It also soaked into the carpet in the hallway and front room, so we had fans on those all night. We also called the landlord who hadn't come to check the faucet yet, that she had been warned about like a month or so ago. Anyways, we just laughed and decided it is one of those newlywed first apartment experiences.

Richard's Song to Micah "He's Lost To Us"

Last night we went to Kyle and Kates' to see the movie the boys made on our wedding day and Richard had written a song for me. He played his guitar and sang it for us. It was awesome.

-Micah

Saw my friend before he died,
Never though he'd commit suicide.
Said he wouldn't, but I knew he'd lied.
Copped right out when he found his bride.

(Chorus)
He's lost, he's lost, to us.
He's lost, he's lost, to us.

What he's done hits below the belt,
But her eyes just seemed made him melt.
A Beautiful woman's got lots a' power.
Should've just had a long cold shower.

(Chorus)

Back in the day we had some brew.
Five were fine but we're down to two.
We trusted you, but you weren't truw,
You fell in love and away you flew.

(Chorus)

Had a date just the other day,
Made me think of the Micah way.
Thenm I thought of my good friend Jonny,
Ran right home to my sweet mommy.

(Chorus)

Okie Ali she looks so fine,
Drove poor Micah right out of his mind.
Went to the temple and the tied the know,
Poor ole Micah, he's good and caught.

(Chorus)

Micah, our friend, we'll miss him so,
Leaving us boys was really low.
Lost in the river of love is he,
I'm glad it's hime and it's not me.

(Chorus)

My Daddy said they'll be days like this,
Married friends that you'll really miss.
Tried to warn hime, but he wouldn't hear.
Now I'll drink all his root beer.

(Chorus)

You found some girl and you lost your mind.
It's put us in an awful bind.
Friendship is an eternal thing,
But you bought this chick ringy-bling.

(Chorus)

Micah was a very good friend,
'Til he started down this spiral trend.
Met a girl, and she looked fine.
Now all that's left is for us to whine.

(Chorus)

So long friend you were good to know.
You were friend, and now you're foe.
Breaks my heart that you're lost,
Getting married was it worth the cost?

(Chorus)

What is next, a kid or two?
Car payment, a mortgage too?
You thought she was heaven sent,
Now you're just establishment.

(Chorus)

What he's done is very low.
They say it's going to make him grow.
I said he should take it slow,
For him it was go go go.

(Chorus)

A pretty girl is a very good thing,
But marrying her is another thing.
Were five friends and life was great,
Down to two and we're irate.

(Chorus)

Used to think, but now he don't.
Used to have fun, but now he won't.
He's lost.
