High street lust #30.

As much as I love finding clothing bargains, I really dislike the manic attitude of sale shoppers so thank goodness for online shopping! This week's lust isn't an outift, but a list of things I've had my eye on for a while. Sadly most were snapped up even before the sales began.

Last Tuesday my family and I went for a 'Christmas' dinner. It's something we do every year. This year was potentially cancelled because of the snow but by night time it had stopped snowing so much. We went to a steak place and I had some delicious lamb chops!

Again, I just bundled up warm. Sorry my cold outfits are all so similar. Think I made a wrong choice with the tutu skirt though. I love it, but it's a bit small so not a good choice for a hearty meal. It's also quite itchy. After dinner, we went to the supermarket. Considering it was 10:30pm, the place was rammed. People were acting like it was the end of the world.

Last week it snowed, not lots but a decent amount. In fact, it was snowing when I took these photos. My mum and I went Christmas shopping on Sunday, it was scary driving in the snow, especially with my little car! After shopping we escaped the blizzard and had some dim sum before the treacherous journey home. Later on Sunday I went to my friend's house for a delicious Christmas dinner (lamb, but with all the trimmings) and did a random secret Santa exchange. We all bought ￡10 gifts and had a lucky dip. I took a robot USB + Darth Tater and returned with a cool TV shaped photo frame.

My outfit that day had to be changed to fend off the cold and I pretty much just piled on the layers. The coat I got for a mere ￡5 two years ago. It's four sizes too big but it keeps me sooo warm. I adore the print on my boots but they are too 'sloppy' so I don't wear them often. They are fur lined though so they keep my feet toasty and I did spend weeks searching for this particular pair before I found them so I can't bear to get rid of them.


Is everyone ready for Christmas? Wrapping presents is my favourite part but this year I've been so lazy with it!

High street lust #29.

I am not really one for dressing up on Christmas but it's still fun to imagine. Both the barb wire tea dress (£50) and the tiered skirt dress (£60) are sweet dresses which can be smartened up for the festive day.

Accessorise with an adorable enamel bow necklace (£14) and cute enamel flower earrings (£8). Hopefully you can just laze around in logo slippers (£12) but perhaps you need to pop out to see aunt Mabel. In that case, throw on a sequin knitted beret (£15), a black lurex stripe scarf (£14) and hooded bomber jacket. Stick presents into the quilted tote bag (£40) and you'll be ready to venture out into the cold.

On Monday I had a day off from work to go Christmas shopping. It was semi successful and I had a good catch up with a close friend in Starbucks so it was a pretty satisfactory day. Outfit wasn't too interesting, I just wanted something comfortable and easy for shopping. This will probably be the last time I wear this pink peacoat, I've had it for five years and I think it's time to let go. I also wore my new VW x Melissa boots. I adore them and they smell soooo good! Sadly, they attract dust and fingerprints far too easily for my liking. I ordered them online as the store didn't have my size. I was very wary though because I went a size up. I'm glad I did, I could even possibly go up two sizes. I don't want to have clown feet though...


I'm taking part in 3 secret Santas. I've sorted two out, got one more to do but I'm stuck for ideas! Help?

My friend had her engagement party/dinner on Saturday. My friend and I were horrifically late but I don't think we missed much. The food got better with each course! I had some sort of pressed terrine as a starter, a chicken leg with chive mash main and two desserts because I'm greedy. I had a lemon and vanilla syllabub with damson (SO GOOD) and warm parkin with poached pears. The waiter was confused because he couldn't work out why there was one extra dessert.

I had a delicious mocktail called 'flying fairbrother'. If I ever get married, that's one drink that'll be served at my wedding. It fits in with my colour scheme so well! Ahh, to dream... Anyway, I last wore this dress to my graduation. I tried to dress it down a bit. My oxford shoes don't really match, but I think that's why I like them here.


People said my hair(band) was Lady Gaga-y. My inspiration was actually Blair Waldorf.

High street lust #28.

Want to go all out this holiday season? Then splash out at Karen Millen. Although there are some gorgeous origami dresses there, what I fell in love with is the laidback but elegant vintage bead dress (£199). The colours and the patterns just drew me in.

A faux fur stole (£99) would be gorgeous with this, as would the soft frill mini bag (£89.95) paired with the soft frill peep toes (£120). Since we're doing matchy matchy, I may as well throw in the crystal drop earrings (£45), crystal bead bracelet (£65) and crystal bead ring (£50). Keep your eye on the time with a leather print watch (£90) and make your Cinderella getaway in a tweed ruffle coat (£250). Tweed is the underrated champion this season.

I've been slacking with outfit posts lately. That was the whole point of this blog, oh well. This is what I wore for my work Christmas party on Friday. I didn't want to be too dressed up. I only put the hat on afterwards because it was so cold, but I think it looks pretty cute so I wish I'd had it on the whole time.

I had pate + toast for starters, salmon + trimmings for my main and a Belgian chocolate cheesecake to finish for my meal. Afterwards there was karaoke. They put a joke one for me and a few girls to sing. I thought it was an Abba song but it turned out to be 'Like A Virgin'. Cringe. I don't even know how the verse goes. Ugh, it was horrible!

High street lust #27.

If, like me, you are heading straight from your workplace to your Christmas do then you may want to prepare beforehand. Perhaps you will take your work dress and super accessorise it or you may want to change into a fabulous new frock. The rome origami dress (£65) is a great choice for the former due to its intriguing neckline and for the latter I adore the sequin flapper dress (£150)... I've always wanted one!

With the flapper dress, you shouldn't go too crazy with accessories; get some nice sandals, black nail polish and maybe a hair fascinator. The ridge disc stud earrings (£10) will look good with either outfit. Tights should be non-existant, sheer or shadowed (£10). For the black dress, I envisage a stack of elastic and stone bangles (£14) along with lots and lots of rings. Try the facet stone cocktail ring (£14), metal button ring (£10) and mini flower stack rings (£10). Of course you'll also need a clutch (£40), mighty heeled platforms (£65) and a ruffle funnel trench (£100) to keep you chic and warm.

PS I love love this blush flower ring (£14). Maybe I'll add it to my Christmas list.

Today I went to find some high-waisted work trousers but they don't seem to exist anywhere. Also considered buying some little heels for work but I don't know if M&S shoes would be as comfortable as my Hush Puppies (ha!). My outfit today was all black but sadly different 'shades'. I tried to make it interesting by wearing a bunch of necklaces. The jewellery made it very annoying to try clothes on!

This week I've eaten well; got lots of mince pies, went out for a royal Thai meal on Tuesday and had Chinese hot pot on Wednesday. Work has been tough because people have gone on holiday. I need to do their jobs as well as mine and it's hard to remember everything.


Sorry I've been SO BAD getting back with comments. I'll reply to everything on Tuesday since I should be doing 'homework' tonight and tomorrow. I can't wait to go to sleep.

I'll be the first to admit that I really don't get the fascination with Alexa Chung! It's odd because she does stripes, nauticals and geek-chic really well and those are three things which I adore. Then again, I don't really get inspired by 'celebrities'. The thing I like most about her is that she has designer items but still buys a lot from Topshop. High street lust #26.

The festive season is upon us and for many of us, that means Christmas parties! Have you started looking for your dress yet? I have! Due to its prices, Monsoon isn't a place where I regularly shop but they do have a gorgeous collection of glitzy dresses. In particular, the gold galileo tunic (£135) caught my eye. I just LOVE the cut of it; the flowy sleeves and the cinched waist accentuate the figure perfectly.

I don't think you should over accessorise a dress like this. In fact, I even think wearing flats such as the studded bow leather black ballerina pumps (£30) are a better choice over some killer heels. Slick your hair back and add a metallic feather spray on disc with veil fascinator (£24) or noir chuny tear drop chain earrings (£8) for some pizazz up top. The aladdins lamp embellished hard case clutch (£40) has enough detail to be interesting but not overpowering. For drama, add some eclectic christmas bangles (£8) and a pair of stitched leather driving gloves (£20). Finish off with a dark plum lipstick and modern statement gem ring (£14).

PS The Paris bon voyage tripe brooch set (£10) would make an adorable Christmas gift!

Hair today, gone tomororw.

Taking some inspiration from Naka-san (who is doing a different hairstyle each day for a month) I attempted a similar challenge but on a much smaller scale ie. for one work week only. Monday was a hair bow, Tuesday saw a tousled bun, Wednesday showed a failed hair plait ribbon, Thursday was a terrible chestnut do and Friday involved more failed plaits.

All my styles were inspired by binosusume whom I discovered last year. She has hair tutorials on Youtube where she appears to create styles with ease. I found out that they are not as easy as they look! Or perhaps I need thicker and longer hair...

The hardest love has the coldest end.

I've already expressed my lament about GG Blair's new outfits, but I really really liked the outfits Leighton Meester wore in the December issue of Glamour UK (LOVE the hair too). High street lust #25.

Dorothy Perkins had a 20% off everything 'sale' last Wednesday - Friday. I went to try on the mink lace up ankle boots (£45) which I have been admiring for a while. They are a lovely colour and fit well but I think they are a little too 'butch' for me. I need a slightly more delicate boot! Still, I enjoy fantasising about possible outfits involving them.

For example... pair with a sweet pink lace dress by Uttam (£15, was £30) and girly cream line and rib tights (£6). Be cute and warm with an oatmeal cable cardigan (£28) and adorable cream faux fur pom pom trapper (£12). Match the boots with a mink twist lock shoulder bag (£25) and accessorise with some pretty jewllery; the pearl cluster ring (£12) and cool short reef knot necklace (£12). Basically, all my imaginary outits involve a nice dress to balance the toughness of the boots.

Had the swine flu vaccine this week. Exciting stuff? Found an amazing white faux fur scarf in a dépôt ventes-esque shop but it was £40. Too dear for me! Bought some cute boots elsewhere though. Am also debating over some Vivienne Westwood booties and yet another Topshop coat. If I get them I cannot allow myself to purchase anything until January. Think I can do it?

Oh, can you tell my tights have a leopard print pattern? My P&S camera lighting is so poor! I get stared/laughed at when I wear my old woman rainhat but I love it. It's so much easier than lugging an umbrella around. Most of the things I tried on yesterday had stripes. I am a sucker for nautical themed things.

I stalk too many wedding blogs for my own good. Anyway, what caught my eye is not the dresses on Style Me Pretty (although they are lovely too) but the backgrounds for the photoshoots. I think they are so sweet and fun.

High street lust #24.

Why is it that when you see something cool in a magazine, you can never find it in real life? I saw an amazing feathered skirt in December's 'Glamour' magazine from River Island but it's not on the website. Still, the frill skirt (#583012, £24.99) is super cute and would be great for both work and off-duty autumn days.

For work: go over the top with the tiered frills and wear with a fill lace scarf t-shirt (#582739, £19.99) and a smart fallaway jacket (#579710, £44.99). Add some grey 70 dernier tights (#575751, £5.99), black studded court shoes (#577999, £44.99) and a great frame ruche handbag (#579097, £39.99) for a fun take on office wear.

For the weekend: wear with a fringe vest (#578865, £16.99) and a shaggy fallaway waistcoat (#576198, £34.99) or a tough leather jacket with pockets (#577905, £150.00). Both will have you bang on trend. Pair with some ballerina shoes (#576307, £26.99) to keep it sweet. Some simple contrast twist earrings (#571595, £4.99) is all the jewellery you need, you don't want to look like a Christmas tree.

Autumn is in full swing, but as we all know, the fashion houses have been busy displaying their s/s collections. Here's a look at Miu Miu's 2010 ready-to-wear collection (courtesy of Style.com). I love the nudes, but also the patterned navy/red/white combinations and the mix of country vs glitz vs prep.

High street lust #23.

My faux fur obsession is heightening, especially because all the high streets have jumped on the trend. Therefore, it's no surprise that I love the feather jacket (£110) from Warehouse. Despite its name, it's not made up of feathers.

There are lots of lovely dresses on offer at the moment so it was hard to narrow it down to the animal jacquard dress (£75). Wear with marl ribbed tights (£10) and some sexy quilt & stud leather drivers gloves (£28). Accessorise for your Christmas party with a sequin clutch (£40), chain knot post drop earrings (£14) and studded / angular / box chain multi bangles (£14). Top off with a fascinator and some red lipstick and you'll look a million bucks.

(I also really want this faux fux collar (£25)!)

This week has been a quiet one. I think I get more boring as the weeks roll by! This outfit is another supermarket get up. Really, I just wanted to wear my newest coat which I mentioned yesterday. It has (short) bracelet sleeves, which aren't so convenient in the chilly weather. I stopped by a few charity shops on the way to Sainsburys but wasn't tempted by anything.


My neighbour came outside when I was taking these photos. He must have thought I was a vain weirdo.

It's alarming how charming I feel.

I've been craving exceedinly good Battenburgh all week. Finally had some this morning, along with a warming cup of English breakfast tea whilst watching West Side Story the movie.


Bought this from Miss Selfridge last week. Been debating whether or not to keep it, since I have the leopard print one from Zara Kids for half the price. Currently, I'm thinking yes!


Lately I have been making a huge effort to wear jewellery. Normally I just buy it and never wear it but that's a waste of money so I'm trying to put it all to use.

Posting more MK photos today (from Olsen-fan). Her rings are less visible in these shots. There are very very few people I look to for fashion inspiration, but the Olsens are definitely on my list. I don't think I could pull off their style, but I truly admire their quirkiness.
