1 Year From Heart Surgery

It's hard to believe that one year ago we were at Stanford waiting for Bailey's open heart surgery to begin.

Oh how grateful we are for God's hand of healing, modern medicine and the power of prayer. Today our sweet Bailey has a whole heart and the doctor has referred to her surgery as "curable" with no lasting side effects and complete healing.

Bailey is a girl who loves a celebration so we started her day with a special plate at breakfast and a small gift. We chose a special B charm for her to add to her heart necklace. She won't appreciate the blue box it came in until later in life!

Celebrating can be exhausting!

I found a note bailey had written in her room. I think it says... brave heart tomorrow, heart surgery a year ago and I'm not sure about the last line but it's clear from the pictures that she is connecting her heart surgery anniversary with her expectation of a family ice cream night!

And so we went... Ice cream at Leatherby's

Almost seven and already taking the world by storm we are grateful for the way Bailey has always approached challenges and life with enthusiasm.

The video that Sally made for Bailey still brings tears to my eyes...

I found it sweet that a few days after we celebrated Bailey's one year anniversary that Parker quietly asked me when we were going to celebrate the anniversary of the removal of his adenoids. I called the doctor's office and it looks like we'll be cheering for Parker on his special day in April. Always a reason for a little celebration!
