Learn all about the Cricut StickerPix Print + Cut and StickerPix Print!

Ready for a Cricut that prints? How about two: Cricut StickerPix Print and Cricut StickerPix Print + Cut. The new machines can make full-color stickers, and the StickerPix Print + Cut can even print, laminate, and cut them for us.

I’ve been testing both machines, and the Print + Cut is the one I keep wanting to play with. It’s easy to use, the stickers look great, and I love that I can pick the machine up and craft from nearly anywhere. Greg even helped me test one out by the tractor at Maker Farm, because the tractor needed a sticker, of course!

What Is Cricut StickerPix?

Cricut StickerPix is Cricut’s new line of compact machines for making stickers and photo prints with Cricut Design Space. Both models can also be used for projects like labels, cards, and invitations.

StickerPix Print keeps sticker making very simple. I choose a precut sticker sheet, add my artwork or photo in Design Space, and print it onto the shapes.

StickerPix Print + Cut gives me more freedom. I can start with my own artwork, arrange it on the sticker sheet, and let the machine take care of the rest. It prints the design, adds a clear protective layer, and cuts around the finished stickers. That means I don’t have to design everything to fit inside a certain shape.

Making Custom Stickers With Cricut StickerPix

I already make plenty of stickers with my regular Cricut machines and a home printer, so StickerPix isn’t giving me something I could never make before. What’s different is how little I have to do once the project is ready.

For a traditional Print Then Cut project, I use my home printer first. Then I place the printed sheet on a Cricut mat and let my Cricut cut around the designs using the sensor marks for orientation.

The Cricut StickerPix Print + Cut puts that process into one sticker-making machine I can control from my phone, computer, or tablet. It uses thermal dye-sublimation printing, so it uses special Cricut StickerPix sticker and photo paper for the best results. The printing supplies and laminate are built into the matched cartridge system, so you don’t fill ink tanks or add a separate laminate by hand. Each pack of Cricut StickerPix photo or sticker paper has enough dye and laminate to match the number of sheets.

The machine builds the image in color layers instead of spraying ink in different ratios like a regular inkjet printer. The machine lights and on-screen prompts guide you through loading and making the project. As it works, you can actually watch the material move back and forth in its tray holder while the machine lays down the color layers, then adds a clear laminate over the top.

Then once the printed and laminated sticker sheet is ready, StickerPix Print + Cut uses its Fine-Point Blade to make a kiss cut around each design. That means it cuts through the sticker layer without cutting all the way through the backing sheet, so you can peel each finished sticker off individually.

I can definitely see the appeal when I just want to make a sheet of custom stickers without getting out my usual setup. Want to make some of my stickers to start? Get a bundle of sticker designs from my free resource library under Design #830!

What Is the Difference Between Cricut StickerPix Print + Cut and StickerPix Print?

Trying to decide between the two StickerPix machines? The biggest question is whether you want to create your own sticker shapes or you’re happy using Cricut’s precut options.

If you mainly want quick photo prints and stickers in ready-made shapes, the smaller StickerPix Print might be the better choice.

For me, Print + Cut is more exciting because custom sticker shapes are a big part of the fun. I like being able to decide what my sticker should look like instead of choosing the shape first.

What Do Cricut StickerPix Stickers Look Like?

The print quality has also been a highlight in my testing. Both StickerPix machines use 300 DPI thermal dye-sublimation printing, followed by a clear protective layer.

My sticker artwork came out with bright, vibrant colors, and you can even add backgrounds to make your sticker sheets look professional! Plus, the clear protective layer gives the surface a nicely finished look. I also tried scratching the stickers and getting them wet, and they held up well in those tests.

I’ve also been looking closely at color accuracy, fine text, and small graphics. I’ll get much deeper into those results in my full review, because there are some differences you can notice when you really zoom in. I used Design Space files for some of my tests, but you can download my files from my free resource library under Design #830!

Is Cricut StickerPix Easy to Use?

Very! And that may end up being one of my favorite things about these machines. Design Space walks me through the project, and I don’t have to make a lot of manual adjustments while StickerPix moves from printing to finishing the sticker.

It doesn’t feel like I’m operating a complicated printing setup. I make my design, follow the prompts, and let the machine do its job.

If you’re already comfortable in Cricut Design Space, the process will feel familiar. If you’re new to Cricut, the guided steps make this much more approachable than I expected from a new kind of machine.

Can A StickerPix Really Work Anywhere?

Practically! My regular sticker-making setup stays in the craft room because it involves a printer and a Cricut. StickerPix is compact enough that I can simply move it when I want to work somewhere else.

Naturally, I had to find out how practical that really was.

Greg helped me take one out to the tractor at Maker Farm, where we made a sticker and put it right where we wanted it.

That may not be the most scientific portability test I’ve ever done, but it sure was fun.

It also got me thinking about where else I might use one. I could easily see bringing StickerPix to a family gathering or community workshop, or using it for organizing projects when hauling out the full craft-room setup would be overkill.

And while the tractor now has a StickerPix sticker, I’m not calling these long-term outdoor car decals yet. I’d want much more outdoor testing before I made that kind of durability claim.

What Else Can Cricut StickerPix Make?

Stickers are what I’m most interested in, but they aren’t the only option. Both machines can also make photo prints, labels, cards, and invitations.

I tried photo prints and collages during my testing, too. They look very nice, and I like having photo printing available when I want it.

Is Cricut StickerPix Good for Beginners?

Yes, I think Cricut StickerPix is very beginner-friendly. You create your project in Cricut Design Space, follow the prompts, load the material, and the machine takes over from there.

The StickerPix Print + Cut is especially easy because it handles the printing, protective layer, and cutting in one workflow. You don’t have to move your sticker sheet from a printer to a separate Cricut machine or worry about setting it up on a mat.

If you’re brand new to sticker making, that simplicity is a big advantage. And if you already use Cricut Design Space, the process will feel really familiar.

How Much Does Cricut StickerPix Cost?

The base Cricut StickerPix Print has a launch price of $169, and the base Cricut StickerPix Print + Cut has a launch price of $299.

Cricut also offers various bundle options with numbers of sticker sheets, photo pages, and cartridges as well as refills.

Am I Excited About Cricut StickerPix?

Oh, definitely!

What interests me most isn’t simply that Cricut finally made something that prints. It’s how quickly I can go from a design on my screen to a finished sticker I can peel off and use.

StickerPix Print + Cut is the machine I’m most eager to keep experimenting with. I’m really enjoying how easy it is to make full-color stickers and labels with just one machine. Now I just need more things to stick them on!

Answers to Your Questions About Cricut StickerPix

Is Cricut StickerPix a laser printer or inkjet printer?

A: No. StickerPix is different from both laser printers and typical inkjet printers.
Both StickerPix models use thermal dye-sublimation printing with a clear protective layer. That’s a different process from the one used by many home inkjet models, including common Epson printers.

Is StickerPix a thermal sticker printer?

A: StickerPix does use thermal dye-sublimation technology, although it’s different from the simple label makers many people picture when they hear thermal sticker printer.
StickerPix produces full-color artwork and photos. If you’re searching for a compact color sticker printer, that’s an important difference.

Does Cricut StickerPix use ink cartridges?

A: StickerPix doesn’t use the standard ink cartridges you might buy for a traditional home printer. Cricut’s StickerPix materials come with the compatible printing supply matched to the number of prints in the package.

What kind of cut does Cricut StickerPix make?

A: The Cricut StickerPix Print + Cut makes a kiss cut around each shape so you can peel off the sticker and leave the sheet intact. The StickerPix Print uses pre-cut sticker shapes, also made with a kiss cut.

Do I need a Cricut Access subscription to use StickerPix?

A: No. Cricut StickerPix machines don’t require a paid subscription to operate. Cricut Access is an optional paid subscription that provides access to additional images, fonts, projects, and other Design Space content.

Does Cricut StickerPix use white ink?

A: Cricut lists StickerPix as using CMY dye-sublimation printing with a clear protective layer, not a separate white ink. That makes it different from some specialty printers designed for professional sticker production.

Can I use regular photo papers with StickerPix?

A: StickerPix has its own material system. Both machines are designed to use only Cricut materials made for the StickerPix machines, rather than ordinary sticker or photo papers.
It also doesn’t work like a typical home printer like those with a rear-feed tray and a selection of different paper types.

Can Cricut StickerPix print photos?

A: Yes. Both StickerPix models can make 4″ x 6″ photo prints.
I like having that option, especially for quick photos from my phone, but stickers are definitely the feature I’m most interested in exploring.

Do you need another Cricut machine to use StickerPix?

A: No. StickerPix is a separate machine.
Both models work with Cricut Design Space on compatible mobile devices and computers. StickerPix Print + Cut also has its own cutting system for sticker projects.
So if I’m making a StickerPix Print + Cut sticker, I don’t have to send it over to another Cricut machine to finish cutting it.

Is Cricut StickerPix good for small businesses?

A: StickerPix may be useful for some small businesses that make shorter runs of labels, packaging stickers, or other customized pieces.
I wouldn’t look at it as a mass production machine. Its strengths make more sense when you want smaller quantities and the freedom to change the design without much setup.

Is StickerPix the best printer for stickers?

A: There isn’t one best printer for every sticker maker.
A traditional printer may make more sense if you need large sheets, die-cut stickers, or lots of different media. StickerPix is much more specialized, especially the Print + Cut model.
Its advantage is the workflow. I can make a design and have one compact sticker printing machine take it all the way to a finished, cut sticker.

How Does Cricut StickerPix Print + Cut Compare to the Liene PixCut S1?

A: I’ve just started testing the Liene, but the biggest difference for me is the software and the Cricut ecosystem. StickerPix works with Cricut Design Space on mobile and desktop, so if you already use Cricut, you can work with software and designs you may already know. The Liene PixCut S1 uses Liene’s own app, which includes its own templates and creative tools.

Can StickerPix make high-quality stickers?

A: In my testing so far, I’ve been impressed with the results. The high-quality stickers I’ve made have good color and a smooth protective finish, and the Print + Cut has handled surprisingly small designs well.
I’m continuing to test graphics and fine details, so I’ll share much more about those results in my full review.

Is Cricut Design Space user friendly with StickerPix?

A: StickerPix uses Cricut Design Space on mobile and desktop.
I already know Design Space well, so I appreciate not having to learn completely separate user-friendly software just for StickerPix. The prompts also walk through the making process as you go.

How to Win a Cricut StickerPix Cutting Machine

Cricut sent me these machines free of charge so I could review them. But I don’t accept free products as I feel it can influence my ability to give an unbiased review. Normally I’m able to just purchase everything I need on my own, so I always know its value compared to my hard-earned money, but I can’t do that for something that isn’t in the stores yet. So, I’m giving them away and will buy my own Cricut StickerPix!
