India is planning to acquire the battle-tested Javelin anti-tank missile system from the United States, US Ambassador Sergio Gor has said. Developed by Lockheed Martin and RTX, the shoulder-fired weapon features fire-and-forget technology, top-attack capability and an imaging infrared seeker. The system has seen extensive combat use, including in Ukraine. For India, the proposed acquisition could strengthen infantry anti-armour capabilities alongside existing weapons, particularly along challenging borders. Details including the number of missiles and deal value are yet to be disclosed.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for a new edition of Russia’s Atlas of Emerging Jobs, saying it should cover both civilian and military skills of the future. Speaking at the Strong Ideas for New Time forum, Putin said the updated atlas should take into account the combat experience of Russian soldiers and officers and help shape future military and civilian technologies. He also highlighted emerging professions such as drone operators and gene-editing specialists, saying new skills will determine Russia’s competitiveness. Putin further stressed the need to strengthen domestic technologies, support innovation and help veterans transition into roles in the economy, government and social sectors.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s surprise Moscow visit has triggered fresh questions after he met Russian intelligence officials but did not meet President Vladimir Putin, according to the Kremlin. U.S. President Donald Trump described the visit as somewhat routine and said Washington wants the Ukraine war to end, while declining to reveal details of the talks. A Wall Street Journal report, citing people briefed on the visit, said Ratcliffe delivered a warning to Russia against attacking NATO countries. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal provided an update on Indian nationals stranded and uncontactable amid devastating floods in Nepal. According to the MEA, 288 Indian nationals remain uncontactable, including 73 people working at the Trishuli-1 Power Project. Several groups of Indian travellers from Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala and other states are also stranded in different parts of Nepal. Jaiswal said 21 Indian nationals from Tamil Nadu have been rescued, while around 200 people stranded on the Chinese side have sought assistance for evacuation. India has also stepped up humanitarian support, sending two aircraft carrying eight tonnes of medicines and one tonne of food items to Kathmandu. Overall, India has sent 47.5 tonnes of emergency supplies to support Nepal’s rescue and relief operations.
