Leila Cobo

Co-Chief Content Officer

A Fulbright scholar from Cali, Colombia, Leila Cobo is co-chief content officer for Billboard, overseeing Billboard’s entire suite of content and coverage, including its print magazine, website and social, as well as all its Spanish-language content. Leila also programs Latin Music Week in its entirety, oversees the Billboard Latin Music Awards and hosts many of Billboard’s marquee “Billboard Presents” video interviews. Prior to her current role, Leila was Billboard’s chief content officer for Latin/Español, where she oversaw the brand’s coverage of Latin music in both English and Spanish; launched Billboard Español, Billboard’s all-Spanish website, which is now the most visited music website for music in the world; and launched Latin Women in Music, which airs on Telemundo. Leila is a journalist with a masters degree in communication from the Annenberg School at USC, and a classical pianist, with a degree in piano performance from Manhattan School of Music. She’s also a speaker, novelist and biographer who has published six books, including two award-winning novels with Grand Central Publishing/Hatchette: “Tell Me Something True” and “The Second Time We Met.” Her most recent book, “Decoding Despacito: An Oral History of Latin Music” (Penguin Random House), was featured in the New York Times’ summer reading list, and is considered an essential guide for the Latin music industry.
