Time Flies

I can't believe how fast time flies.  It seems like it was just yesterday that Addison arrived.  Yesterday she turned two months old and she is changing every day.  She smiles all of the time now and it is so fun to watch her.  She loves being talked to and played with.

Her two month appointment was today and she now weighs 10 pounds 13 ounces.  This is a big change from Cade.  At his two month appointment he weighed 14 pounds.  All of the nurses and her doctor couldn't believe how much hair she still has.  She was just as happy as could be during the appointment until the shots came.  She got three shots in the leg and a liquid shot that she drank (this was new for me).  She's had a rough afternoon and evening!!

Cade is so sweet with her.  Today he walked up to her and rubbed her leg and said, "I love you Addison."  I love watching him interact with her.  The best times are when he doesn't know I'm listening.  He is such a good big brother!
What a face!

Vegas Baby

Last weekend Darrell and I went to Vegas with some great friends of ours.  Laura and Marcel wanted to celebrate their 30th birthdays in a big way and they invited a group of friends to join them.  Lucky for us, Laura scheduled the trip around Addison being born (they actually turned 30 in May).  We had a wonderful time!

We left at 6:30 in the morning on Friday and arrived at 7:30 their time...we had a full day.  We got to the airport and took a limo to the hotel (it was more convenient since we had three couples with us).  When we got to the hotel, we were blown away...it was gorgeous!!  I had never been to Vegas before, so I couldn't wait to see the hotel.  The decor was beautiful!

The first thing we did was have breakfast and then we went to the pool.  Again the pool was amazing!  We thought it would be cool to rent a cabana, so the five of us couples chipped in to get one.  After the fact, we realized it was a waste of our money....we were in the pool the majority of the time and didn't really use it.  Oh well!  It was nice to relax by the pool the entire day.  We had a waitress who brought us our drinks and there was some pretty good entertainment with the people watching and the few girls who thought it was cool to go topless in the pool!  That evening we all got dressed up and went to dinner at SW Steakhouse which is at the Wynn hotel.  The food was excellent and we had FUNNEL CAKES for dessert!!  Then we left and went to a club called XS.  Darrell and I were pretty tired, so after about an hour we headed back to the room to call it a night.

Saturday we got up and went hotel hopping.  We went to the Venetian first where I played my first game of blackjack.  I was the big winner between Darrell, Laura, Marcel and myself with a whopping $35 (actually $40, but I tipped the dealer since she basically taught us the entire time).  We had lunch at the Lux Cafe and then our big group split up to our own things.  We went to the Bellagio and Caesar's Palace, the others wanted to gamble.  We watched the famous water show at the Bellagio and then walked around in the hotel.  Next we went to Serendipity (yes, like the movie) to have a quick dessert break.  Then we were off to Caesar's Palace where we looked around at some shops.  It was great getting to hang out with Laura and Marcel the whole day!!  After that we headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner that night.  We ate a restaurant called Botero's.  Again...wonderful food and good times hanging out and visiting with everyone.  We ended up just hanging out and playing a few slots that night.  The girls tried out another club, but it really wasn't what we were looking for.

Sunday Darrell and I got up and we went to Margaritaville for lunch.  We stopped at a few stores to pick up a few souvenirs.  Then we headed to the airport with Laura and Marcel in a cab.  The driver's personality was cracking Laura and me up.  Let's just say he wasn't too happy about the monorail that was built in the city....

We both had a blast on the trip and enjoyed getting to hang out with everyone.  It was really hot, but we still had a great time.  Darrell and I were both really anxious to get home to see Cade and Addison.  We thought about them the entire time and it was great to see them when we got home.

Darrell's 30th Birthday Bash

Darrell turned 30 on July 5th.  We had a big party at our house on the 10th to celebrate.  Several of our closest family and friends came over to help celebrate.  Darrell woke up at five in the morning to smoke two briskets.  They ended up taking a lot longer to cook than he liked, but we eventually were able to eat them and they turned out great...even though he was disappointed in them.

Our good friends Jacob and Rachel came to stay with us for the weekend and we loved having them here.  We were so happy they were able to make it.  Ryan and Ethan came over to hang out for the day.  Cade and Ethan had a blast hanging out and playing with ALL of Cade's toys.  At one point you couldn't even see the floor in his room.

Everyone else began showing up around five and we all hung out and visited.  There were washers set up in the backyard and margaritas were being made in the kitchen.  Once the sun went down, the mosquitoes got crazy.  They were horrible outside, so everyone made their way inside (for the next few days we were killing mosquitoes all throughout our house).

At the end of the night, the kids, Ethan, Luke, and Cade decided to have a boxing match.  Then they got my dad (Pa Cade) and Jacob to wrestle with them.  Needless to say, Cade didn't have any trouble getting to sleep that night.

We had a great time and really enjoyed hanging out with all of our family and friends.

This was the cake I had made for Darrell's birthday.  It had his favorite beer and favorite koozie.  I really wanted Lindsey to make it, but all of her baking things had been packed for Saudi.  So, I did the next best thing and ordered it from our favorite bakery, Jenny's.

4th of July

What a great day!  We were able to hang out with some of our very good friends on the boat.  Brooks and Lindsey are preparing to leave for Saudi (Brooks within days and Lindsey in a few weeks).  It was good to get to spend some time with our families before they leave.  Gavin and Cade loved the fireworks.  We anchored in Nassau Bay and we so close to the fireworks that some of the ashes landed on the boat.  Once those were finished we were headed to Kemah and got to watch them on the way.  There were so many fireworks going on around us.  It was really neat!

In the meantime we are trying to get some things ready for Darrell's 30th birthday party on Saturday.  Cade loves to help his daddy on any projects that are done outside.  Today he helped him spread the mulch in a flowerbed out in the backyard (don't be fooled, I'm sure Darrell went right behind him when he wasn't looking to make it perfect!).  Addison and I hung out inside hanging out.
