Turning Over a New Leaf-so to Speak

As you all know, I have a hard time remembering to blog. This is due to that fact that most of my time is spent reading, working, sleeping...etc. Boring-Check.

Since mostly family reads my blog, and I see most of my family quite frequently, I have a hard time writing a blog that would actually be worth the time reading. But as most of you know a recent sister of mine (ours) moved very far away and now I find that there is a need for me to document my thoughts, amazing insights- you know the usual- so that she can be kept up on all the spicy and exciting new things are going on in my -pretty much hoppin ' single- (young) adult life. And above mentioned sister-Meggan- creating a freaking [pardon my french :)] awesome new blog header that simply can not go to waste. I MUST put it to use.

Here goes:
A week or so a go I got into a crafty sort of mood and came up with these-I bought blank rings online and then the fabric from our local Joannes store. It was a super cheap and fun crafty sort of thing to do.








First you have to get a fabric that melts instead of burns. We used this shimmer-y polyester stuff. We cut a total of 8 circle out of the fabric-5 in one color and 3 in another. Descending in size -to look like petals. Then with a lighter we melted the outer edges just a little bit. After melting the edges we put all of the circles together and sewed them. Then we applied -with a hot glue gun- the beads, gems, and the blank ring to the fabric. All in all it was pretty simple.

All in all though it was a fun thing to do with some of the nieces. And if anybody else wants to make them then I'd be more than happy to help!

Three Cups of Tea

I recently finished reading this really good book.

Three cups of Tea: One's man Mission to Promote Peace...One School at a Time.

Greg Mortenson started the first foundation for building schools all throughout Pakistan. Not only building schools but pushing for the education of women. Greg believes that pretty much all of the problems in Pakistan and Afghanistan come from lack of education. In his book he says that if the children in Pakistan were provided a non-biased education, meaning an education not run by extremists, than the country would be way better off.

I really loved reading this book, even though I was assigned to read it for one of my classes, and would recommend everybody to give it a try!

One Week down.....

I don't really know how to start this little writing ditty, also know as a blog post, so I'm just going to just right in!

It's Sunday (thank goodness) and I can now say that I've accomplished surviving through an entire week of What?!? College, that's right College. But do you want to know what's funny, school wasn't the hard part. It was having to learn to talk girl talk again.

Yeah yeah I can hear you laughing, but listen just hear me out...

First night, entered apartment through front door (actually there's only one door anyway) I heard an onslaught of: giggling, laughing, lots of talking, music, lots of "oh my gosh" "look at my hair! it's nasty" (etc.) and in short all sorts of craziness.

I think my eyes might of popped out of my head. Which wasn't good because I still needed to unpack, and after the first few minutes I almost just asked Shan if I could move in with them!

Not because I didn't like the girls ( I actually have come to fit in a little and love hanging out with them!) it was just a lot to take in all at once. And now I'm proud to say I can even manage talking dorky girl talk again. Not that I ever really stopped just ran a little out of practice that's all. Just had to polish it up again! :)

Any way. Things are going swell. And as much as school is a bit overwhelming I'm loving it.

The roomies and I went to a little shindig the other night up on campus, dancing, Lazer tag, dodge ball etc.

Ain't we cute! (Left to Right) Me, Camilla,Britt, Erin, and Kinzi) Camilla isn't our room mate, she is our next door neighbor, and Alli and Mandie couldn't make it. But it was a fun night anyway!

I Really Did Try!

First off my awesomely sweetness sis-in-law is an Amazing cook. Whilst I was out at her abode She made the most scrumptious Caramel, -covered in white chocolate and sprinkled with Cinnamon and Sugar, -Apples. And even though, (since I just had my gall bladder removed), I wasn't supposed to be ingesting anything high in fat, sugar (yada yada) and such I Munched those apples and was in Caramel Apple-y Heaven!

When I awoke this morning I found that i had hankering for some of those above mentioned Caramel apples. So I set out on the impossible task of duplicating 's cooking amazing-ness.

And here is the Final Result.

oh and uh... hehe, I forgot to buy Popsicle sticks so I improvised.
I thought it was quite genius really! ;)

Not too Bad Eh? Now the real question is Are they going to taste the same!


oh and p.s. Mom helped me dip the chocolate and such. So I did have a little bit of help and I'm sure that without it they wouldn't look so pretty!

All I ever Do

All I really do is Work. Now I know for some this isn't a new concept but for me...

I do apologize for seriously slacking in the blogging department but my life is quite uneventful these days.
I have an unusually schedule do to the fact that I work a swing shift (4 p.m. to 2 a.m.) almost every night. As crazy as it sounds though I like working, as much as any one can like standing for ten hours, getting all dirty and lifting heavy boxes all the time!
At least I will be able to show off some sweet muscles when my work is all done! ;)

Any way... I recently went up to Rexburg, Idaho (where I will be attending BYU Idaho in January) to find a suitable apartment for me reside in during the said time above.

Shannon and Kevin ( my sweet sis and bro-in-law) helped me scope out some good places. It was fun to check things out, walk around campus and get a taste of where I'm going to be living and such in a couple of months. It was way fun. The only problem is now I am super excited to go and I still have to WORK for four more months. * heavy sigh* More money though right....more money right?!?!

And that's all folks. This is my life in a nutshell. For now any way!

I laughed for a Couple days or So

Whilst on said Vacation in NYC we traveled by subway.

Which is not hard to figure out, by the way.

Before story time begins let me give you a little background.

ONE: The card was faulty
TWO: It didn't only happen to me
THREE: I was in a rush
FOUR: I was just the first one to admit it that the card was faulty
resulting in pain and such

We each had a Metro Card, ( which Jen kept safely in her Purse) So each time we used the Subways we used a different card. (Meaning I didn't have my own personal , same every time, card to use)


As I was rushing through the entry gate I swiped my card, glanced down and noticed it said go and full tilt, i was in a rush remember, ran on through that gate. Only when much to my surprise, I'm oh so certain that the people behind me laughed about it for hours, The Gate didn't budge.

Head + Full speed + Bar = Monster Goose Egg (which stayed around for about a week) and Nasty Headache.

Oh And, Of Course, Total Embarrassment.

My Recent Adventures

Okay okay, I know I have been a bit lazy in my blogging, but life got a little bit crazy!
as soon as school officially let out I was off on some grand adventures!
Grand adventure Number One:

A visit with the Gramps O'Neal in Texas:
We only raked and bagged the leaves surrounding the house...

(Now just try and image how many more bag there would have been if we had cleaned the entire yard, and this was just he beginning, by the end there was at least 10 more bags or so!!! Yikes)
And played many games of Wahoo. ( a game similar to the modern day Sorry)
Which I thoroughly Enjoyed by the way!

(Long Drive Home...Had to speak in Stake Conference... Washed clothes, packed clothes and accompanied My Amazing older sis, (and bro-in-law) to New York City.

Walked through Central Park (well probably only 1/500th of the park!)

and of course Times Square ( in the Rain I might add!)
Kacie, Dill and I just goofin' off before going to bed!!

So I know that a lot of people would do the same thing but Dill and I just about peed our pants when we looked at this picture again today. Honestly some things a person can just never tire of!

And millions of other sweet must see sights! All in all I loved my adventures. I had amazing experiences and saw things I will never forget.
And New York City was just the beginning of my "Seeing the World" Scrapbook!
