Michael Scott (The Office) couldn't have said it better. I saw this on my friend Brittani's blog and so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I have to say I was hoping for something more than just your typical rabbit's foot but...no such luck! Apparently that is why I should be carrying this in my left pocket for good luck, too bad I am really not superstitious and only just "a little-stitious." :) You can be sure I won't be carrying one of those furry things around with me anytime soon!

While I was looking at this site it offered me to take another fun test so being bored at work (I'm in on call waiting to get a patient) on a Sunday evening I did just that. Apparently this is my true color - do you think it suits me? I don't know what the other color options were but I have to say I am happy with yellow, I love yellow it is such a fun and bright color.

Tribute to our Beloved Prophet - President Gordon B. Hinckley

So I am sitting here at work and all of a sudden my phone is ringing off the hook. I just found out Pres. Hinckley passed away and I am so full of emotion: Shocked because I thought/wished he would live forever, Sad because he will be missed dearly, Happy that he can now be with his sweet wife Marjorie his family and our Father in Heaven, Excited for Pres. Monson to take over, Thankful for all that he taught me and all that he did for the church, Amazed when I reflect on his life and all that he did and accomplished, Comforted to know that he is now free from his earthly aging body and ailments and can go on and share the gospel with others. These and so many other emotions are what I am feeling right now as I ponder on our dear prophet. He was the Prophet I have known best growing up and have grown to love and the one that has taught me so much over the years, I feel I gained a true testimony while he was presiding he is really going to be missed.

What I Learned From Pres. Hinckley:

-To love and appreciate temples and to attend them often - 83 temples were erected during his ministry

-The importance of Relief Society

-To BE...smart, true, grateful, humble, clean, prayerful, positive, still and involved

-To Stand A Little Taller

-The importance of family history and knowing where we come from

-That I am a daughter of God and that as a woman there is a lot I can do for the church

-To Be Prepared

-Importance of missionary work and that "every member a missionary"

-The importance of education - established the perpetual education fund

-The importance of families

What I Love About Pres. Hinckley:

-His conviction and love for the Savior

-He was witty and had a great sense of humor - gotta love the cane :)

-He was a hard worker - I don't think the man slept

-His humanitarian efforts

-He loved and adored his wife and made sure everybody knew it

-He was always straight and to the point about what he taught

-He opened the church to the media and let the rest of the world know about "The Mormons"

-He led by example

-He genuinely cared and was concerned for the "whole" church and traveled the world to show it

-He made the world a better place

"WE THANK THEE OH GOD FOR A PROPHET TO GUIDE US IN THESE LATTER DAYS"

Thanks Pres. Hinckley for your years of service and never ending example. We will always remember the man that you were/are and all that you taught us - you will be missed dearly!

6 months already?

We can hardly believe we have been living here for 6 months now. Here are a few things we have grown to love and not love since being here in Ohio:

Things we don't love:

No U turns permitted anywhere

Garbage day is always changing

People can't drive in the snow

There is really no snow, just rain and sometimes it's freezing rain

Humidity

Missing all our friends and family in Utah

With all the great restaurants we still haven't found a good Chinese one (like the small mom and pop one we loved in Utah)

Things that we LOVE:

The Sports; especially Football - Go Buckeyes

Great Shopping!!

$3 new release movies at the theaters

Dog parks and lots of them

Living in a condo and not renting

All the different and yummy restaurants

Metro Parks and lots of fun stuff like festivals etc. around town to go to

All the new friends we are making

Close driving distance to lots of fun cities ie: DC, NYC, Chicago (just to name a few)

Reflecting on 2007

What a wonderful year full of so many changes. We just wanted to take a moment to reflect on all that happened. Here is what we were doing in 2007:

Moved out of our one bedroom cinderblock apartment and moved in with Shayne's parents for 6 months to save some money

Shayne graduated with a bachelors degree in business finance.

Shayne traveled the US for dental interviews (Sherri accompanied him for a few).

Shayne was fortunate to be accepted to more than one dental school and finally chose The Ohio State!

Shayne was a Spanish interpreter at the U of U hospital and was sad to quit

Shayne started wearing contacts and was not happy about it at first

Bought two puppies who we adore

Sherri went with Shayne's mom to puppy classes to train the crazy puppies

Traveled the world: Oregon, San Francisco, Sint Marteen, New Port Beach, Canada, Ohio (sort of a vacation at first), Palmyra NY and Niagra Falls

We both celebrated 26 meaning we are no longer mid 20's but upper 20's yikes!

Went wakeboarding for what will probably be the last time for awhile - so sad!

Moved across the country and left our wonderful family and friends behind!

Purchased our first home (condo)

Finally switched from a married student ward to a family ward

Celebrated our 4th year anniversary and 7 years together - wow!

Gained a new nephew (Grant Later), whom we still haven't met, but pics are super cute.

Sherri quit both her jobs

Sherri got another job (just one this time)

Taught nursery together

Volunteered together at Primary Children's Hospital once a week, we were sad to quit.

Shayne now teaches nursery again, Sherri doesn't have another calling yet - Shayne's not bitter about this at all :)

Became instant Buckeye fans while still remaining true to the U!

Sherri fell into the trap and read and was obsessed with The Twilight Series along with everyother woman in the world

Spent our first Christmas alone together since we've been married - it was kind of fun!

Happy Birthday!

We know this is a little late but we had to post it anyway, seeing as we did it for Belle we couldn't leave Zoey out. Our little Zoey is all grown up, she just turned 1 years old the day after Christmas. Happy Birthday Zoe - we love you!!

Goals, Goals, and more Goals!

So I have never been a big one for resolutions. I just try to set goals all year round rather than just trying to do it once a year. However, I have decided that this is a problem. Why you ask? Because I usually set so many goals although realistic in content, there are usually too many in one time frame. So...I end up getting overwhelmed and then nothing gets done. Pretty sad and stupid, I know. With this new year I haved decided I am going to make a resolution. Yipee, we'll see how it goes. My resolution is to only set one goal at a time for myself and then not set a new one until that goal is complete. You may wonder why I am posting about this because you probably don't care but I figure if I blogged about it, it would help me be more diligent about it. Hope you all think of good resolutions and don't make the same mistake as me by making too many goals at once!
