Is it Over Yet?

I've decided that February is the worst month of the whole year, which is why it is the shortest. If it were any longer we'd all go crazy. It's the month where everyone is finally sick of winter and just waiting for spring. It seems like it is always gloomy and everyone is always on edge. I can't exactly explain it but I just know I've decided I don't like it. The only good thing about it is Valentine's Day. I think it's great there is such an uplifting holiday right in the middle of the month - it just helps make the last half that much more bearable. So....seeing as I never posted about our Valentines I thought I would, to celebrate that February is finally over!! We went with our friends Chase and Raquel to a really nice restaurant called M. There is a guy (Cameron Mitchell) out here that is very well known for all of his restaurants so far all of the ones we have been to have been great. M is his most upscale one and we had tons of fun!
I actually got to spend a nice night out with my hubby for once, it was awesome! They even gave us this semi private room for just the 4 of us which made it that much better!
As you can see Shayne was very excited about the half of a cow they brought to him!
This was my delectable chicken dinner, it just melted in my mouth!
And for dessert? Creme brulee, sooooo good!
This was the decor in our little room, wasn't quite sure how I felt about it, I'll let you decide for yourself.
I know, I know I am easily excited and had to take a picture, but this is what we found in the women's bathroom, all sorts of fun stuff. Now that's what every women's bathroom should have don't ya think!
To top off the night, here we are poor students at a really nice restaurant. We had to valet park our mercedes (did I say mercedes? I meant 4 runner - I tend to get those two confused) Well, we went out and the valet guys said they couldn't get our car started. Besides the fact that it was a bit embarassing, Shayne's car ended up needing a new starter and battery. Thought that was nice of the old runner to wait until then to let us know! All in all, it was a great night with awesome food and friends, thanks guys we can't wait to go back.

Card Making

Raquel and I have been meaning to make cards forever. She kept telling me she had done it before and I have wanted to learn, so on Saturday night we decided to give it a whirl. We heard Joann's was having a sale and so we went and bought a few fun tools (an embosser and crimper) to help us with our cards. It was tons of fun making cards and listening to the old Whitney Houston classics, we may have even sung along to a few! Here are some pics of our first effort, not quite "stampin up" material but we did the best with what we had. I dare say this just may have to become a permanent new hobby, it was tons of fun and I can't wait to do it again - thanks Raquel!
These are Raquel's masterpieces - way cuter than mine!
These are the cards I made - ok I guess for a first attempt. I hope I can only get better!

FIRZLENIFFLENOFF

This is my brosky Scott, aka Firzlenifflenoff (don't ask) and today is his 24th birthday. Since I don't think he ever looks at our blog he will probably never see this, but regardless I wanted to take a minute and wish him a very Happy Birthday. He is the best little bro and I love him lots. Ladies he is even single still, so those of you still looking, he's a great catch. He is always making everybody laugh which I really miss, thank goodness for webcams! So...my much bigger little bro thanks for all you do you're the best and I hope you have a great day - wish I could be there with you to celebrate.
HAPPY 24th BIRTHDAY FIRZLENIFFLENOFF!!

Work OR Play?

That's exactly what I was wondering while Shayne and Chase were working on their wax ups for school. Using little tools, fire, and models of teeth to sculpt stuff sure sounds and even looks like it might be fun! However, after seeing these guys at work I have a new appreciation for what they do all day in the lab. Although it may look fun it is very tedious and time consuming. I am proud of them for how hard they work and it was fun to finally see what they do all the time since all I ever did before was hear about it. At any rate since they have to work so hard on all these projects, I hope they are having a little fun while they're at it.

The Day of L-O-V-E!

(I realize this pic is from Christmas but it's the only one I could find at work and besides he looks super cute in it)

This is my hotty husband, Shayne, and I just wanted to tell him Happy Valentines Day and let him as well as everyone else know how much I love him. These are just a few of the things I love about Shayne (in no particular order) thanks for all you do babe

I LOVE YOU!

  • He is very witty and always making me and everyone around him laugh
  • He is really motivated and really smart and works really hard at all he does
  • He loves kids and is so great with them (all you nursery people know what I'm talking about)
  • He is a sports junky - loves playing or watching them and I can ask him anything (since I'm not as savvy in this area) and he can tell me
  • He is very considerate (for example every time I make him dinner he never forgets to thank me)
  • He's freakin hot and super sexy
  • He honors his priesthood
  • He has the best smile, it's contagious, love those straight beautiful white teeth
  • He's very giving, whenever someone needs something he doesn't hesitate to help
  • He's very social and loves to be with friends - we always have so much fun!
  • He speaks fluent spanish, not only is it sexy as ever but he also pushes me to try and learn

Since Valentines Day is the day of LOVE I also wanted to tell all you friends and family out there (that's you reading this) just how much I love you and how greatful I am to have you in my life HAPPY VALENTINES DAY to everyone!

Prepared?

You bet I am, or at least a little closer to it. So I did as I promised and actually got more accomplished than I had planned which I am really excited about. Ironically, the day after that enrichment someone's place in my neighborhood burned down so you better believe I got that fire extinguisher. That was my one thing to do to get more prepared over the weekend but then I also made a plan for my dogs, established a meeting place for an emergency with Shayne and went to the dry pack cannery with my ward. I feel a little better about that tornado or fire or whatever may come one day. I know I still have a long way to go but it's a good start right?
Hilliard ward canning queens! Don't you just love our sexy outfits? Raquel had never been to a cannery so I am so glad she came even though she isn't in my ward, we had tons of fun! I operated this burly machine that seals the lids on the cans, It was fun, but messy, guess there is rhyme and reason to the silly hats and aprons! Just a few of our finished products, we did hundreds of cans. This is it, not quite as big as the cannery in Utah but we can't complain at least we have one close enough to go to (it's only 30min away)! We all had different jobs and did it in an assembly line fashion, it went real quick but was hard work!

"If ye are prepared, ye shall not fear"

Well ladies and gentleman I am here to tell you that we are not prepared, so we shall fear! I just went to an Emergency Preparedness Enrichment last night - bad idea! Now I am having panic attacks realizing that I am not as prepared as I thought. Do you have a fire extinguisher? Do you have a plan for your pets? Do you have an out of state contact? Do you have a meeting place? No No No and No ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! A tornado is going to come rip the roof off our house and then we're screwed (well at least this is what I was thinking at the time). Funny how these little reminders get to you, but that is why I am greatful for Relief Society (although I didn't get much relief) because where would I be without the reminders? You got it - sitting in the cold with no first aid, no shelter and no dogs etc etc! So... I had to post about this so the rest of you can be anxious and scared right along with me. I didn't want to be selfish and be the only one feeling guilty :) Seriously though, I just wanted to put this out there because the speaker last night made a good point. She said in a nut shell that if we will just do one thing this weekend to get more prepared then we are better off than before. Thus, my first project da da da da... a fire extinguisher and making a plan for my precious dogs, poor things are so helpless. Props to all you that have kids I am having a hard enough time figuring out what just the 2 of us will do in an emergency let alone adding our dogs into the picture. Just to make myself feel better I have to say that I think we have a pretty good food storage (thanks to my mom). However, I think that is my problem. I get so focused on one area and do really well that I forget about all the rest. What good is food going to do me if I catch on fire and can't extinguish it - you get my drift. So everybody this is me telling you I am getting prepared because I would rather be 2 years too early than 5 minutes too late! (That was for you Candice)

A Giant Among Men

So I just watched part of President Hinckley's funeral service on the internet and it was awesome. Love modern technology for this reason, I only wish I could have been there. Pres. Monson couldn't have put it better when he said "he was a giant among men". I was feeling guilty that I didn't leave my tribute to him up longer without posting after it. So.....if you missed it, after you read all about my wonderful hubby scroll down and read my thoughts on another wonderful man - our Prophet!
