Ronan you are 8 months old! You are Mom and Dad's sweetie. You are such a good baby and always seem happy (except when you have an ear infection). You got your second ear infection this month on your 8 month birthday (March 30). You had a fever all day and Mom had to come pick you up. When she got to daycare, you were just laying in the swing looking over at Ms. Alana. (You never just lay anywhere, you are always moving). Mom took you to the doctor, got you Tylenoled up, and you seemed much better when we got home (see picture above). Unfortunately, we had to start you on Augmentin, which gave you diarrhea and your first diaper rash. I think that was worse than the ear infection. You usually open up your little mouth for whatever is coming your way, whether that be medicine or food, but you hate the Augmentin, so that has been a fight for Mom and Dad to get it in you. You see that white liquid coming your way and you are already screaming.
You started sitting up by yourself this month (at about 7 1/2 months). You are almost crawling. You can scoot over to your toys, so now we really have to keep an eye on you. You love to play with your toys. You don't really like stuffed animals, you like the toys that make lots of noise. Your rattles, cups to bang together, and this Fisher Price giraffe that Mom got at a garage sale are some of your favorites. You also love to play with your pacifier. You chew on that thing and flip it around in your mouth. You are so fast when you see it. You grab it and in 2 seconds, pop it in your mouth and suck away.
You have started to feed yourself. You love the puffs that Mom bought you. When you started out you got about 1/10 of the puffs in your mouth. Now you are up to about 1/2. It took about 3 weeks, but you are already getting so much better at it. You also like feeding yourself with the little self-feeder, as seen below. I put half a banana in it and you suck on that thing for about five minutes and it will be all gone. It is a mess, but you seem to like it.

You and Dad watching some sports and wearing the home teams hats.

You visited the Easter bunny this month. You look scared, but you really weren't. You just sat there, pretty much oblivious to the whole thing. You and Mom shopped in the mall afterwards. You were such a good boy. You love to be moving and looking around at everyone. We must have shopped for about 2 hours and you just babbled away. (Even with your ear infection.)

You love lights, like most babies. You were laughing so hard because Dad was making noise and your monitor was lighting up. You also love when Mom sings The Itsy Bitsy Spider and Patty Cake. Grandpa Staat does chicken noises and you love that too. Bawk, Bawk, Bawk.

Chip and Dale are sticking up in this picture.

You are a little piggy poo. You eat 3 stage 2 jars of babyfood each day, mixed with some rice cereal. You drink 3 bottles at daycare and nurse 2-3 other times. You feed yourself your puffs. You started eating a whole banana at a time. Your favorites are too numerous to mention. You love everything (except peas and green beans, they still make you gag). You ate a few meats this month (turkey/chicken). You liked them just fine.

You are still wearing mostly 6-9 month clothes, but Mom has had to put some of them away. The overalls are just too short for you. You have started wearing some 9-12 month clothes. They are just a little big on you. You weighed 21.1 lbs on March 30. We decided that you needed to move up to the big-boy car seat. Your little baby carrier is too heavy for Mom. I had to swing you a little to be able to walk with you in there.
You are still a naughty boy in church. You have started being fascinated with strings and tags, so you love to undo Dad's shoelaces in church. That keeps you occupied for about 5 minutes. The other hour and 15 minutes are somewhat of a struggle.
You got your wheels back at daycare. One day Mom dropped you off (Dad usually drops off) and she put you in the walker. She tried to get you to walk over to her, but you saw the toy shelf and scooted right over to it, ignored Mom, and started taking toy after toy off the shelf.
Daycare Notes:
3/17/10 Today Ronan went on a walk with some of his friends-walked around with the walker.
3/23/10 Ronan was so much fun today :) He walked all over the room with his walker :) He had lots of tummy time and jumping in his jump-a-roo :)
We have had some beautiful spring weather this month, so lots of walks with Nugget. She has decided that she needs to check on you every once in a while. She scratches your door open when you are sleeping and snoots around in there. She is so loud that you sometimes wake up and then Mom has to get after her. Your face just lights up when you see her.
We love you so much Ronan James.
