Today..

Today started out with this little face. I once again have mastitis (nursing infection), such a joy. Trouble sleeping so me and the wee one were out on the couch.

Today I cheered myself up(you know from the infection) by eating a large Parsons bakery lemon cookie for breakfast. This is all that was left of it...7:00 am and I have already ate a giant cookie, that can't be good.

Today we had another visit from the toothfairy. Would you believe Carson lost his second tooth, literally lost it again. I don't know how these things keep falling out without him knowing...he just came up to me and said "mom, did my tooth fall out". At least the tooth fairy was on her game this time. Notice the last line of his note...do me first. Ha, poor kid. Still remembers the last visit.

Today Lincoln boy slept til almost 9:00. What the...that never happens.

Today I made powered sugared crepes for breakfast. Carson ate 5. He loves em.

Today I smiled at my boys' morning cartoons. I know years from now that is a sound I will truly miss. Something about kids and cartoons. Just cute.

Today consisted of more pirate and Mickey Mouse play.

Today my boys' enjoyed my phone. They love to shuffle through my music and pick their favorites to listen to over and over again. Currently they are enjoying Bruno Mars "It will Rain" and Adele's "Someone Like You".

Today was bring your teacher a treat day for teacher appreciation week. We took Gummy Bears that said "you are beary special".

Today was washing sheets day..

Which means today Drakey took a very good nap right smack in the middle of my unmade bed.

Today was more sping cleaning, finished go through the boys' closets and drawers. Making room for their summer clothes.

Today I washed the boys' tennis shoes. Amazing what a cycle through the washer will do.

Today Drake made friends with a stuffed Mickey Mouse,

and played peek-a-boo as I was making the beds.

Today Lincoln had some friends over and needless to say he and those friends left the play room looking like this.

Today we enjoyed some fresh air before dinner time.

and noticed some more buds poking through.

Today we made chilli for dinner, one last time for the season.

Today I P90'd while watching "Dancing with the Stars". Makes my workout speed by.

Today was a good day, how was yours?

Friday Favorites...

Here we are again...end of another week. My big boys are sound asleep and my wee one is tucked up next to me, almost out himself. I love Friday nights, they are nice and quiet and just how I like them. Saturday's always bring lots of plans and activities...not Fridays. Quiet nights at home...I like em.

Weather can't quite make up its mind around here. We go back and forth from the cold, frigid air to the warm, spring like days. Whats new in these parts though, pretty standard for us.

The past couple of days have been super nice. I love being outside and seeing little hints of life...so exciting.

The weather has been so warm that I actually ventured out of my hoodies and into

some quarter length shirts. Not short sleeves, no way. I try to not wear short sleeves until at least May. I always think I will be fine, and then I put them on and this cold blooded gal freezes to death. No, no...it is best I way until it is VERY warm outside before I bring out the summer stuff. Now quarter sleeve, that I can handle.

All this warmth has made my boys little outside junkies. They can't get enough. They love to play in our backyard, while Drake chills in highchair from the doorway. He's happy, doesn't seem to mind that he is missing out on the fun.

Made a trip to Costco and picked me up these little friends....tellicherry black pepper and mediteranean sea salt grinders. I will never buy regular salt and pepper again. These babies have changed my life. The best flavor ever. Go get yourself some.

Also stocked up on frest fruit...I love fruit this time of year. Also got a pineapple, but we ate that too fast. Never had time to make it in the picture.

speaking of treats...its Girl Scout cookie season. Oh my heavens, good thing they come out just once a year. Although, note to husband...next time they approach you to buy cookies, please tell them you must contact your wife first before placing an order. The goofy guy ordered 4 boxes of Samoa's and one box of some kind I don't even like. I mean I like Samoa's and all but I also like Thin Mints, and Tagalongs and the lemon kind. 4 boxes of all the same flavor?? Weirdo. Although I am pretty sure I ate 3 out of those 4 boxes on my own, sooooo....

I've also been spring cleaning. It's a slow process. Isn't everything a slow process when children are involved? Oh well, we will get there. So far the boys' rooms and bathroom looks absolutely splendid...rest of the house, um not so much.

I don't know what the heck has gotten into me lately...I have been trying out new recipes left and right. Watching a little too much P-dub I suppose, she has inspired me. This was a black bean/corn salsa dish I took up to my inlaws. We devoured it.

lil' smolkies wrapped in bacon and brown sugar. I don't even want to tell you how fast we ate these babies. Its embarassing. My kids love bacon, we'll just leave it at that.

Also tried a new stir fry recipe with Chinese noodles. This one is going into my monthly rotation. So, so good...I mean heck, look at those colors. Almost too pretty to eat..almost, I said almost.

Enough about me, onto the crazies. This is nice, I love walking into my bedroom to find my house be protected by a variety of superheroes. Lined up just so. Ya know, just keepin' things safe.

This isn't weird at all people...clearly it was time for the stuffed pups to have a little chow. You all have similiar scenes in your kitchen too, right?

And just for the record I am cool with having Drake's bedroom decor used as a form of transportation for the whole Mickey Mouse gang. Check out toodles on the front, he's got the best seat in the house.

Little boys, little boys. I have a few..can you tell.

They kinda like their toys.

Well, most of em'...this one just likes laundry. Clean laundry, mind you.

Ah-hah...hi there Drakey-bug. Yep, mama sees ya precious one.

Speaking of the little one, this is his new favorite thing to do. He thinks his highchair is a walker. Wheels that thing around the kitchen like nobody's business. Don't you worry that he is a quarter of it's size, he handles it like a pro.

In other news, my mama stopped by unexpectedly one night. She had some errands down my way, so she stopped in for dinner on her way home. It was fun. An unexpected, pleasant surprise...

Just 2 boys playing lego's with their grandma...and Kyle, right mom. haha, wink, wink.

Tou and Tia Shalae (uncle and aunt in portugese) both celebrated birthdays this month. We all got together for dinner at Braza Grill on St. Patty's day. Meat, meat and more meat...it just keeps coming. Not for this girl. I am more of a salad bar kinda lady.

End of term last week, which meant Cars had a day off school. We headed to the Childrens Treehouse Museum. Next time tell this mama to check her times. Appearantly, they close at 3:00 on Mondays...we got there at 1:45. Whoops. Stupid me. Carson loved being the teacher, while these littles were his students.

And last but not least, me and this guy headed to "The Hunger Games" last night.

We also went with my mom and Dean and Ash and Souli (by the way check out my favorite Asian's shirt...appearantly he is Team Peeta, only Souli. Weirdo!)

Souli knew some guy that was renting out one of the theaters so he got us all tickets. Loved it, loved it. Done very well. Followed the book quite nicely. My only complaint is this...I wasn't really feeling the chemistry between Peeta and Katniss, although to be fair they are kinda offish in the book too, I think thats kinda the point. I kinda just liked the casting for Gale better. Other than that, I loved it!

We also went to some yummy Japanese restaurant, where we ordered some sushi. I admit, I am not much of a sushi lover..however my hubby loves the stuff. I can handle the mild ones and this one was pretty mild.

Loved my dinner however.

So thats me...exciting stuff right.

Good-night friends, keep smiling away!

Ramblings...

Been doing some motherhood contemplating lately. Kinda in a funk right now. Ya know that feeling. Its not one thing in particular that is bothering me, just a whole bunch of little things. Thiago's new position has made my already busy husband even busier. He leaves the house by 6:30 am every day and doesn't get home til about 6:00 pm, he shoves in dinner and then he heads off for either soccer or his young men's activity. I think to many long days, cooped up with three rambuctious little boys is taking a toll on me. Its like I am desperate for some adult interaction throughout the day but by the time he finally gets home, and I finish up getting the kids to bed and exercising we are both too tired to be much company to each other. I think I am missing him. I feel lonely. I hate feeling that way, like every day is just like the one before. Monotnous.

After a few days of feeling kinda blah...I gave myself a mental smack and told myself to snap out of it. Monotony....is it really so bad??

No, it means I have a home, I have an income, I have a hard working husband, I have three, healthy, active and very much alive children. I have healthy and well extended family, my country is safe, my testimony is strong....what more am I looking for.

I felt like a spoiled little brat for feeling bored and whiney. I am so very blessed and I had better recognize that.

So, as I have at many times in my life. I started looking for the simple pleasures. How easy it is to forget amongst the chaos of everyday life. No more self pitying over the small, out patient surgery I have coming up. At least it is not life threatening, at least it is a problem that is about to become resolved. No more rolling my eyes at my two big boys who keep fighting over the same stupid pirate sword, at least they are at home together both strong and healthy, not seperated by illness or disease that seems to be appearing all over the place lately. No more frusteration at feeling like all I do is wipe noses, and fill juice cups, and taxi cab around, and settle fights and disagreements and reason with unruly 3 year olds why it isn't appropriate to yell out at his sunbeams teacher that he hates her. Yes, he said that....do you think I wanted to slap him. At least it is me that is at home and doing these things, at least I am the one who is alive and well and able to raise my own children.

I made a commitment to stop feeling blah and to start remembering all that I have, all that I am capable of. Naturally, when looking for my life's greatest blessings it always turns to these three....

You better believe I still have the moments throughout the day where I look around and think to myself is this really my life right now, is Carson six years old and STILL can't get to sleep on his own, does Lincoln quite possibly have the worst mouth any three year old has EVER had, why oh why must my baby keep messing with my fake potted plant, kid leave it ALONE!!!!

But there are so many good moments, amazing moments, moments that make me remember why I wanted to be a mom in the first place.

(yep, this was one of them. Early morning and these two are in my bed asleep. Lincoln stirs and opens his eyes, looking for me or Thiago, can't find either of us so he finds his baby brother instead. Cuddled right up. My heart skipped a beat.)

(Another one I don't want to forget. Drakey bug is a noon napper, he is always ready to close his eyes around the time I take carson to school. So everyday on the way to school, the little guy tuckers out. Carson is convinced it is because he tickles Drake's face to sleep. I don't have the heart to tell him Drake would close his eyes regardless of the tickling...Carson is sure he is the one that has the magic touch.

(Went down to Thiago's office last Saturday to help him do a little clean-up and redecorate. Who knew all the joy that could come from a dry erase board??)

Oh these babes are mine. I love them. It is miraculous to me, watching the bond that is forming before my eyes every single day between them. They are brothers, what a sacred relationship. The other day Carson said to me with a smile "mom, Drakey-bug is just so cute, every time I look at him he is just so soft that I just have to squeeze him". And Lincoln boy at bedtime gave us a real good laugh, Carson was talking and Lincoln was too busy goofing around and didn't hear, he turned to Carson and said "what, what did you say my brother". Oh heavens...these boys. Just when I think I can't stand them for another minute and they had better go to sleep or I will lose my sanity they go and say things like that. They know just what gets me. I am truly blessed...and I won't forget it!
