| About Kondara Linux
|
| Kondara MNU/Linux is a Japanese distribution based on Raw Hide. We had been providing Japanese add-on SRPM packages until they decided to release their distribution in cooperation with Digital Factory Japan co, Ltd. "MNU" is an expression of a sound made when you touch a penguin (phonetic symbols available here), and also stands for "Mount is Not Umount". The word "Kondara" is not a proper Japanese but a wordplay from an old Japanese TV animation, and indicates their resolution to devote to this distribution. Let's work together! We need more input in many different aspects of developing distribution (testing, maintaining documents, etc...) If you want to participate in our activity, do not hesitate to join Kondara-devel ML.

Distribution (Bad) News: Kondara |

Kondara project dissolution announcement: "We are afraid to announce that we will dissolve Kondara Project as of July 15, 2002, although this is a sudden decision. We would kindly like to ask for your understanding even it will impose trouble to the users and the supporters." More details and reasons in English and Japanese. Linux distributions come and go and unfortunately, Kondara is the latest victim; if interested, take a look at its project history. If you need anything from Kondara's FTP servers or its web site, grab it now - they will be closed on 15 July. Thank you and good bye, Kondara!

Distribution Review: Kondara 2.1 |
 |
TuxReports have written to let us know that they are building an overview of Kondara's latest release 2.1: "We are going to try something a little bit different from a review. We've written the introductory review and then we've added room for improvements. This should give everyone an opportunity to contribute in a positive manner." This is an interesting idea, because you can participate in the review by contributing your experiences and exchange views. The initial review is already quite thorough, so you can just a look at it, but if you've used this distribution, you are definitely encouraged to contribute. Kondara MNU/Linux is an experienced Linux distributor and is highly recommended to those who need both English and Japanese working environments. The overview is available here.
