NEW • Distribution Release: Haydar Linux 1.00 |

After two beta releases, the final version of Haydar Linux 1.00 has been announced: "Haydar Linux version 1.00 will be released on Sunday 06-04-2003 and we will begin with pressing of the CD-ROMS on Monday 07-04-2003. This release will be also available for download as soon as we get any download mirrors." Haydar Linux is one of the few Linux distributions providing complete and integrated Arabic support for users. HWM administration tools, Red Hat and Mandrake configuration utilities and Arabic language files for OpenOffice.org 1.0 and 1.1beta are all included. Please note that the developers are currently unable to provide the bandwidth for download, but if you can offer an FTP mirror for 2 ISO images, please write to haydar at haydar.net. Development Release: Haydar Linux Beta 2 |

Haydar Linux is back with a new beta: "We are happy to release Haydar Linux Beta2." You can get it here: HL-Beta2.iso (650MB). Haydar Linux claims to be the first Linux distribution with full Arabic support. Although based on Red Hat Linux, GNOME packages are missing from the distribution and KDE is its only desktop environment. Haydar's other speciality is its graphical installer called "Buraq" which supports Arabic, Dutch and English. The project released its first beta in April this year and the final release of Haydar Linux 1.0 is expected next month. Visit the Haydar Linux web site (English or Arabic) for more information.

Jollix
Jollix was a Live CD distribution based on Gentoo Linux. Jollix boots directly from CD without touching the hard disk. A fast and easy-to-install version of Jollix will be available in a later release. In the current version there are installation instructions for more experienced Linux users. Once Jollix was installed on a hard disk, it can be updated via portage, the package manager of Gentoo Linux. In fact, Jollix was Gentoo at this point (somehow preconfigured). Jollix aimes at the gamer and multimedia enthusiast who prefers Linux as a stable and safe platform.
